Has anyone seen or tried the Trikke?

I stumbled upon an informercial for this new razor scooter looking thing (can't think of anyway else to describe it), except that it has 2 separate foot plates and you don't have to put your foot on the ground to propel it as with the razor scooters. It looks so fun and I want to try it (never mind that I'm REALLY pregnant right now!) Their website is www.trikke.com . Has anyone else seen or tried this thing?

That looks very cool. I bet I could find many uses for it down the shore. Also looks like a really good low impact glute workout. Wonder how much they cost? And where you can get one for that matter?

If I remember correctly, the informercial said $99. Of course, I may be wrong. It doesn't appear you can order off the website, but it has a dealer link to find it in ones area. None are terribly close to me, but I may take a drive to check one out soon.

ETA: They also have products called a bikke and a skki (which isn't released until this fall), but it looks like a trikke with skis instead of wheels.

Ooo, that looks like fun! And only a couple hundred bucks for one. Hmmm... *glances at credit card*

ETA: You can order on the website. Just click on the model you're interested in. Then you can customize the colors and ta-da! :D The fitness models start at $179.

The Trikke has gotten really bad reviews. Apparently it is not so easy to move around-you need alot of space side-to-side, sidewalks are to narrow to use it on! I looked into getting one 3 yrs ago. If you do enough searching around you can find one for around $75. Online they sell for around $150-$200+. Some sports stores have them in stock (I recall seeing one somewhere - maybe Sport Authority or Dick's?), so I would recommend going and trying one out before purchasing.

You know, I thought about this too. You would need a lot of side-to-side space, so you'd pretty much have to ride it right on the road, which really isn't safe. So, even though it looks like fun, I'm not sure where I'd be able to use it.

Thanks for the heads up. :)

Their website says that they have an improved version 2 available. Perhaps it does not have the problems that you saw when you researched 3 years ago...

As far as taking up a lot of room, the website says this is a common misconception. You can swing wide or narrow to ride it, (but adds that "making big wide sweeping turns is a great deal more fun.")

I did look around like you suggested, and they do seem to be cheaper from other places rather than directly from their website.

That looks like a blast but I would hate to be riding a bike or roller blading behind one of them. Or even "trikke-ing" behind one, you would really have to watch out!
