Cathlete
Good Morning!

Where is everyone? I'm getting ready to do a Spinervals workout and then my mom and her husband are taking us all out for lunch to celebrate my DH's birthday (which is on the 30th).

I posted pics of my new workout room in my picturetrail album. My DH is the best! :)

Later skaters! I hope you are all having a FABULOUS day! We have 30mph winds today. Oh joy!

It's quiet today!

Yesterday was a lazy day. I laid on the couch watching TV for the most part but I did go out and run for 25 minutes (added in sprint intervals) then came home and did the blasts from Kick Max. Then I watched the Sooners kick some Red Raiders boot-tey! Getting ready to work lower body and abs today.

MY DS is home this weekend from Oregon so we are doing our Thanksgiving with him and friends today:)

Suz...checked out your pics! So cool! I bet you are thrilled!

Afternoon Maniacs!!!

I didn't do my shoulder work yesterday. Spent the day being lazy instead...my rest day. Today I did it all:

Cardio: Elliptical
Burned 540 cals
Traveled 6.9 mi
Time 60 mins
Level 4
Avg Speed 9 mph

Then did my shoulder work from P90X..sorta..I did not do same rep counts on all, etc.

Alternating Shoulder Presses:
25's 3/8

Upright Rows
20's 3/8

Seated Shoulder Flys
15's 3/8 (Tony does these 16x's)

Straight Arm Shoulder Flys
10's 16x's

Really felt a difference in shoulders from doing these. Felt great. Then did MM abs. My favorite ab workout lately. For lunch, ate my tuna fish out of the can. Trying to get back into tuna, but hard going down...like eating cardboard. Wish I liked tuna as much as my cat does.

Suz,

I hope your day is lovely. Sounds fun.

Sonya,

Sounds like your day was similiar to mine. Such fun to take a break. Afterall, we deserve it! Enjoy the day with family! Eat much turkey! hehe

Well, I had very little sleep last night. Grandbaby kept waking me up coughing and jabbering all night. I got up at and made her a bottle once and went in to get her and she was asleep:confused: So I went back to bed. Then got up somewhere around 5 am (my laser printer that I did not turn off decided it needed to calibrate and woke the baby:rolleyes:.) My grandson woke and wondered why we were getting up so early. I told him he could go back to sleep but it did not happen. He wanted to workout with me so we did Amy Bento's Rumble Kickbox segments stopping at the heavy bag. I only burned 230 calories. Normally Sunday is my day off anyway.
My shoulder hurt during the night but did some stretches and it feels fine now. Not sure why it hurt. II am hoping to get back to my heavier lower body soon. I hate having an illness during holiday season. Really messes with all of the extra calories and energy expenditure:confused:

Charlotte, mix your tuna with some veggies and a good dressing ar seasoning. On a salad is good. I never thought of it tasting like cardboard. Have you tried a spicey mustard??

Sonya, sounds like my kind of day:D DH is with a group of guys in Kosovo watching Football today. Well, I am a sooners fan:D DD went to OU so how could I not be? :D

Suz, I hope lunch is fun. I have to go check your picturetrail:)

Suz, I don't see any new workout rooms picks. I think I looked under everything:)

Diane,

Thanks for the ideas! Cool. Last time I ate Tuna was with the baked doritos to just wash down the nasty tuna taste. Some people think it is weird that I eat something I really don't care for, but when we are talking about goals then, sometimes you just have to do what you got to do.

Hopefully you will sleep better tonight. Sounds like you have your hands full too.

I ended up doing Spinervals Enter the Red Zone. It was 54 minutes. There were some good climbs in it so I sure hope my legs will be ready for my leg workout tomorrow. It had my HR in the 180's a number of times. That hasn't been happening as much lately with all my cardio. Brenda is in that workout.

It was 47 degrees out earlier even though the wind was blowing like crazy. Now it's 32! It dropped before we went to lunch at noon. Crazy.

Sonya - Your day wasn't too lazy yesterday. It sounds like you got a good workout in. I hope you have a FABULOUS Thanksgiving today and enjoy time with your son and his friends!

Char - NICE workout! I don't know how you can choke down plain tuna. I know what you mean about eating stuff for a purpose though. I don't love some of the protein shakes and stuff I have. I think I'll like the homemade ones better once I run out of the premade ones. But we have TONS of the Myoplex ones from when the EAS store was in Denver and gave such great deals to cops. I'm glad Diane Sue gave you some suggestions to spice up your tuna. You are so dedicated that you would have just kept eating tuna right out of the can!

Diane Sue - Rough night! Your grandson sounds so cute. Too bad he wouldn't go back to sleep. Sometimes my shoulder will hurt in the night and then be better in the morning. I'm glad it feels better today. I need to stretch mine today so that when Gregg asks me tomorrow if I did I can say yes. :) That is, if he's up to working on it tomorrow. I'm not sure how it will be in the training room tomorrow. Depends on how the student athletes are doing after Friday. Oh - as for my workout room, the pictures kind of look the same as the old ones, but we rearranged the room and the tv is new. The old tv is gone and so is the MONSTER entertainment center that it was on. The old pictures didn't have the Bowflex Revolution in them either. They're in my workout pictures folder. Sorry for the confusion.

Charlotte, I sometimes get those Green Giant Healthy Weight veggie mixes with the endame and black beans and dump the can of tuna in and warm it. It adds just enough flavor with the sauce and the veggies. Tastes good that way. I don't usually eat something unless I find a way to eat it and enjoy it:)

Suz, love the flat screen. What does the Bowflex Revolution use for resistance? Since I know it doesn't use the power rods. I have a couple of my 50# power rods that seem easier to pull than the others. I think they lose some of their resistance after repeatedly stretching them. JMO. Not that they are easy but they are easier if you know what I mean. My shoulder feels good this evening. Maybe I just worry to much especially since I am trying something new with the kettlebells.

Diane Sue - Here's what I copied from the Bowflex site: The secret is the cutting-edge SpiraFlex® resistance technology.

Developed for use on the International Space Station, SpiraFlex® resistance provides even, consistent linear resistance necessary for building and maintaining lean, strong muscle. Lean muscle is the most efficient fat burner in the body.

Gone are the bulky, cumbersome weights common in many home gyms. SpiraFlex® resistance achieves its signature smoothness in part due to the heavy-gauge elastic straps powering its lightweight SpiraFlex® plates. As an exercise is initiated, the plate's bands tighten around a central pivot coil, creating resistance.

The Bowflex Revolution® home gym incorporates this revolutionary resistance technology with the geometrically designed cam to deliver linear, consistent resistance through the entire range of motion.

I'm glad your shoulder is feeling good. Mine has been achy today. We moved the monster tv yesterday that was in my workout room. It was a 36" - the old kind. We had these straps which made it so much easier and really you only used your legs, but trying to get the straps just right was messing with my shoulder. That tv was HEAVY!!!

Suz, that sounds interesting on how the revolution works. Would have to really look at one to get an idea what the plates are and the pivot coil. We have one of those monster televisions in our office. Isn't it amazing how light televisions are now?
