Hardcore Fitness Maniacs December 2025!

Well, I started the Caroline Girvin's Iron series this morning. We'll see how long I stick with it. It's 6 weeks but I won't be lifting 5 times a week since I like to add in cardio. I figured I'd at least like to get one day of cardio in. These also give me some extra time to get on my treadmill afterwards. I think they average around 30 minutes but have no warmup which I don't like. I used one of Kelly's warmups today but that adds to time I just don't have in the mornings.

Anyways, this was one minute per exercise with a 30 second rest. i like that she actually does the rests unlike Kelly. LOL!!

Iron Workout #1 - 30 Minute Leg Workout

Suitcase Squats: 15's - 2 sets
Static Lunge: 15's - 2 sets each side
Deadlifts: 15's - 3 sets (I only did half of the 3rd set because my back was getting really tight)
Rear Step Lunge: 12# - 2 sets each side
Pause Goblet Squats: 25# - 2 sets
Lateral Lunges: 12# - 2 sets each side

Finisher
1/2 rep Goblet Squats: 12# - 30 seconds
Full rep Goblet Squats: 12# - 30 seconds
Full rep Goblet Squats: BW - 30 seconds
1/2 rep Goblet Squats: BW - 1 minute

KILLER WORKOUT!! With the warmup and cool down it was 46 minutes, burned 206 calories, HR was 102/135.

So when the workout started it said that she is using 33 lbs. dumbbells. Is that each or the total weight of both? I don't now how she could have done this entire workout with a 33 lbs dumbbell. I wouldn't have been able to do that at my best when I was lifting heavy. Does anyone know? I'm thinking she is using 15# each.

Diane - Nice job with your workouts yesterday!! Yes, it has been exciting seeing the new kitchen transform into what it is. My husband did all the work and it truly is a work of art. I started moving stuff into it yesterday and still need to do more. But today I'm taking my little neighbor across the street shopping. She needs to go to Ulta and Sephora. LOL!!! She's in 8th grade.

Belinda - Have fun with Cathe's rotation. I need to go check it out. I also need a kick in the but and I think the Iron series will do it for me.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Evening,

Our Nest thermostat is out since yesterday. We had someone come and check it out, he temporarily put on on..it keeps dropping the temperature in all the bedrooms. I slept in the living room which wasn‘t comply at all. My husband need to buy one asp. I can‘t deal with all that cold lately.

I did 2 hours live Belly dancing plus Pilates with Mindful Breath.

Diane - YT can be a headache sometimes. Maybe make that recommendation to the instructor? Some do listen to there followers. Lauren is very calm. Great job on your workout.

Debbie - Caroline Girvin's Iron series will kick your butt. Great job this morning and have fun.

Roselyn - so sorry you having anxiety about the upcoming mammogram. I had a call back before. It turned out it was ok. I wished there would be something I can say to calm you down. Try to take your mind off.

Good night.

Debbie, nice job on Caroline Girvin Iron Series Legs today. I have only tried one of her workouts which was upper and really made my shoulders and back hurt so I have never tried another one. I know you are going to love cooking in your new kitchen. That was sweet of your husband to do it. I hope you had fun shopping at Sophora and Ulta. I would probably spend too much myself.

Roselyn, nice work on legs. I know how you feel. I have had them have me return before and it ended up being nothing. I have also had them have me come back for an ultrasound which showed nothing wrong. Relax, their finding something serious is a rare thing.

Belinda, the cold makes my arthritis hurt. We have a nest thermostat, and I think it plays tricks because it will stop running as often until it picks up on movement in the house. I stand in front of it and it cuts in. Do you have a fireplace or something? I hope you can get it replaced soon. Good job on the live belly dancing and Pilates with mindful breath today.

Sorry for the MIA again but we have had guests and you know how that goes, I forgot to check in.
Sunday- Cathe's STS Meso 2 Disc #13 Chest, Shoulders and Triceps and boy was I sore the next day! My chest muscles were screaming for 2 days.
Monday- 4 miles of walking through the hills
Today- 4 miles of walking, 2 in the a.m. and 2 in the p.m. I had to make it two workouts because I got rained on this morning and had to cut it short. We have a lot of rain the next week, so I hope to have less outdoor walking and more weight workouts.

Great job on the workouts everyone!

Debbie, I feel like I gained about 6 pounds from all of the stress eating over the last two months. How awesome is it to have a new kitchen, I can only dream... We are about to start our guest bathroom remodel so I am happy about that! My youngest son has done a number on it and I cannot wait for it to be all fresh and new. I think Caroline does do very heavy weights per DB, she is so strong. I could never have done what she does for the entire workout. Wait till you see what weights she does for Shoulders!!!

Roselyn, relax, I am sure that you are fine. But I know how you feel, but it is in God's hands now.

We had rain today and it was 78 degrees and balmy, it felt like being in Hawaii today. I was wearing shorts, tank top and flip flops today in December!

Have a great evening everyone.

This morning I did Iron Workout #2 - 30 Minute Upper Body Shoulders, Back & Chest. Wow, what a great workout, I really felt it. I think I might enjoy this series. We'll see.

1 minute each exercise, 30 second rest

Chest Press: 20's - 3 sets
Chest Flyes: 15's - 3 sets

Renegade Rows (I did Gorilla Rows): 20's - 3 sets
Pullovers: 25# - 3 sets

Shoulder Press: 12's - 3 sets
Rear Delt Raise: 10's
Lateral Raise: 10's
Rear Delt Raise: 8's
Lateral Raise: 8's

Finisher:
Alternate Front Raise: 10's
Frontal Raise 1 Dumbbell: 15#

Workout was 41 minutes, burned 196 calories, HR was 106/139.

I don't burn many calories with these workouts but I sure feel them.

Kelly finally has a new boxing workout that she recently released. I'm hoping to do that one tomorrow.

Roselyn - She never really clicked with me, I've done a few of her workouts before. But I feel differently this time. I think I will try to do the entire 6 week series. Geez, I don't know what to tell you about the mammogram stress. I don't do them anymore. I do a Thermal Image of my breasts at a special facility and of course there is always stress about what they might see or find, but I manage it well. I just don't worry about things until it happens. It's not worth it. Just relax and know all will go well! :)

Belinda - OMG, I'm so sorry to hear about your heating issues. Not a good time to have that happen! I hope it gets fixed soon. Great job with your workout!

Diane - I will be careful with these workouts, I feel like they might be dangerous. But she does do some good rest time and I'm not lifting half as heavy as she is. I'm liking them so far. Great job with your workout!! My little neighbor and I had a blast yesterday. I did buy a few things but not too much. She bought a ton of stuff. Why does a 14 year old need so many skin care products? And her forehead is covered in pimples. I can't help but wonder if it's all the crap she's using on her skin. Those things weren't made for young skin.

Jolie - Great job on your workouts We will get our weight under control, I'm already feeling better.

Have a great day everyone!!

Hi,

I did STS 2 Upper Body 1 and Hip & Shoulder replay from Dec 5th. This one felt good after doing STS 2 Upper body 1.

We had someone come out yesterday to fix the thermostat. He temporally put one in, doesn‘t work as well as my Nest. I ordered a new Nest from Amazon today, it should come Friday.

Debbie - thank you. The heat is back on, not as strong as my old one? I ordered a new Nest from Amazon. They all out in our area for some reason? Iron Workout #2 - 30 Minute Upper Body Shoulders, Back & Chest today.

Diane - we had someone come out yesterday. He said the wiring wasn‘t working on the old Nest. He replaced with a off brand one. If I return it soon I will get my $$ back for the thermostat he installed. We had our Nest for years, I think it was too old. The cold outside isn‘t helping. I couldn‘t sleep in my bedroom, it was colder inside than it was outside. Thank goodness, we have 2 heating system in our house. We also have a pellet stove in the basement, we been running it at night to take the bite out. I can‘t deal with the cold.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy new year.

Today I did CDorner Fast Basic Step minimal breakdown, 37 minutes, (2 ads in this and she says that happens when using copyrighted music and it opens it up for them to put in ads) I have done this one before and liked it and I just keep moving till she is back. 60 calories burned, heart rate 138/169, 3,550 steps. I followed this with Senior Shape Pilates with a stability ball. 31 minutes 72 calories. I think my legs may notice this one. Lots of core in it as well which seems to be the base of pilates in general. I cannot get my feet off the floor lying face down with these workouts. It seems like I used to be able to though. They are like lead on the floor. My dog gave me a lick bath while I was down there as well. Total time was 68 minutes and 332 calories.

Jolie, a bath remodel sounds nice. I know you will enjoy it when it is done. Nice work on STS Meso 2 disc 13 Chest, shoulders and triceps and 4 mile walks in hills. We have had warm weather here off and on in 60's and even 70. It dropped 2 days and is back up to 60's today. Not shorts weather though.

Debbie, nice job on Iron Workout #2 shoulders, back, and chest today. I think you burn the calories afterward;) I hope you like Kelly's new kickbox workout. My 16 year old granddaughter was broke out Christmas. I think it is because she started working in a MoBetta restaurant. When I was a teen and worked in fast food that grease and sweat over the grills broke me out something awful. Ingredients in cosmetics make a difference. I spent quite a bit of time with a dermatologist as a teen. I am careful still on ingredients. Shea Butter in anything will end up breaking me out. I use IT products on my skin care for day and night and have no problems so stick to it. I used to use 100% Pure products and wasted a lot changing makeup and they tried to help. I gave up on that one too. Sometimes I think it is in the genes. One daughter and my son had issues, but my other daughter did not. Oh, and my granddaughter is always putting Chinese stuff in her wish list for make up and skin care that I would be afraid to put on my face. Most of the shadows have talc in them. I think she likes the pretty containers. I try to sub something better.

Belinda, good job on STS 2 Upper Body #1 and December 5 replay. I am glad you got your doorbell wiring fixed. We had a nest doorbell camera till recently. I think the sun hitting the doorbell burned it out. We ordered a Ring camera doorbell and my grandson in law installed it for us. It works really well. Our house was set up with nest thermostat, doorbell, and keypad lock though. I did like that I could adjust from my cell phone when gone though. Plus with the nest I was able to turn the doorbell ring off when my husband was sleeping. I have not seen a feature like that on the Ring camera bell. That is nice that you have two heating systems in your house. We had that at our other house and a gas fireplace which helps.
