HARDCORE FITNESS MANIAC CHECK IN TUES 06-15-10

Hey everyone!

I just figured I would get this started since I have another busy day at work and didn't have time to "chat" yesterday at all.

Today was Imax 3 and SJ&P abs. I didn't quite finish the entire cardio workout, and notice I have been quite the slacker with my cardio lately. I just don't seem motivated. Anyway, I'm glad to add on the abs on my cardio days so my weight training/circuit days have a little more time...

I hope everyone has a great day!!

Cheryl

Today was cardio and a week ago today since I twisted my ankle. It's doing very well. Still hurts a bit when I bend it outward towards the floor but other then that it's ok. I got on my treadmill and just did a fast pace walk on a 4% incline. Got my HR up into my in zone for most of it and worked up a good sweat.

Then I did the Oxygen Ab Triset that I love tod o. Really felt it today. I'm sure my abs will be sore tomorrow. Love that triset routine!

CARDIO HR STATS:
52 minutes total
6 minutes below zone
33 minutes in zone
14 minutes above zone
382 calories burned
2.75 miles travelled

Not a bad calorie for just walking fast. I'm happy with it!

Gm Ladies-
I will be back for personals later. Yesterday I did Brook Benten's Cardio Pump Fusion. It is a mix of sports drills and kettlebell. I was sweating like a pig :p Workout time was about 60 minutes.

Geez Debbie......that's a better calorie burner than the Shock Cardio MMA I did last week!! I'm glad the ankle is getting better. How's mom?? I was thinking of you last weekend at camp - it was Americade week and so many people were out riding. It wasn't the best weekend (weatherwise) to be on a bike, but everyone really made the best of it!:)

Lori - I read your post from this weekend about being the dog's "seeing eye person" - LOL :D. My younger Aussie doesn't love the rain either, but she swims like a lab - go figure! Nice workouts over the past several days also.

Diane Sue - I'm glad your DH found someone else to call about the sprinklers - hopefully they actually show up :). It sounds like you really enjoy the grandchildren and I'm sure they love to come to your house. It sounds like you may spoil a bit? LOL - nothing wrong with that! Also, did you tarp the fifth wheel? My DH and I did that a few years ago and used bungee chords to keep them in place...

Lora - You must been enjoying a few days off (I hope) - you deserve it! Thanks again for the "consultation" last week. :)

Hermia - CONGRATS TO YOU!! Planning a wedding is a lot of work, but completely worth it. I just went to my good friends wedding a week ago - so much fun!! Enjoy it ! Nice workouts considering all you had to do this weekend. :)

Theresa - What do you have in store for the DH this week? Sounds like you had a great workout today!

Ok....gotta get some work done. Have a great day.

Cheryl

Good Morning -

By the time I could get back to check in yesterday, it was late --decided to just wait until this morning. I did do the premix from BC/ME. That really is a great workout. Last night I also got in 80 min of yoga. This is the 3rd time I’ve done the Baptiste Foundations DVD I got not so long ago (always skip the warm-up). I should start cycling it with some of my other yoga DVD's or I’m gonna get tired of it. Cardio today - kickboxing, but I haven’t decided which one yet. Also have kb work and a shorter 20 or so minute interval workout planned - probably for later evening. I’ve been scheduling 2 workouts a day for most every day this last week -- and next. If I miss one once in awhile that’s ok - experimenting mostly. I think I’ll do a couple more full body workouts, then a mix of Muscle Max and Amy’s All Pump Extreme. I did something like this about a year ago and remember liking it - between the two, there's a pretty thorough/unique mix of exercises. I’ll probably break it into a three day split. Then I’ll hit Gym Style again.

Diane Sue - "Wow" workout yesterday :D. Can’t remember exactly what Theresa said but I agreed with her. I think you mentioned doing the Gauntlet later this week? I believe that's the one with several Bootcamp segments - lots of changes. I go back and forth between that one and the Viper as favorites. You've got some challenging workouts scheduled this week. It is very rainy around here too - it has been for awhile. we’re halfway through June but barely had anything that felt like summer. If season’s had warranties I’d want a refund - or at least exchange it for one that wasn’t defective

Debbie - Relieved to hear the good news about your mom -- and your ankle. You got a great workout in yesterday, huh? Glad the treadmill felt ok. I'd be happy with those stats, too ;) When I hurt my ankle (and my hip flexor for that matter) an elliptical trainer worked really well. Used it so much for injuries though, I can barely even stand to look at one now. Don’t know if you even have access to one. Shoot - I’d let you have mine if I could :p

Hermia - Just remember to take time for yourself. With your schedule on top of it all, that's probably not easy. It's amazing how things like this come together though -- planning big events like weddings, I mean. It feels like so much - and you can't see how they will with all the details and arrangements - but they just do. I'm very happy for you.

Cheryl - Sounds like you are doing great! You're so active at camp, it's probably good you've eased back on cardio a tad ;) That's funny about your Aussie. Skyler kind of likes to swim when we take her to the lake - and she seems to like baths. Even does ok walking in snow. Maybe it's because the rain is "hard." Who knows. Kind of funny though. DS has told her she is an embarrassment to her more rugged ancestor's and needs to toughen up. I stay out of these "conversations" and just try not to laugh. To her credit though, she has ruthlessly gutted more than a few squeaky toys in her day. I NEVER thought I'd want a little Beagle as a dog -- always been more drawn to big Marmaduke-types. We end up with Snoopy. Wouldn't trade her for the world. I forget - did you say you have three dogs? Two Aussies and ... (am I getting this all wrong? )? In any case - Hope you have a great day ;)

Lora - Hope you survived your long week and are enjoying your time off. Had a really cool conversation with DS yesterday about the sense of smell and memories (things you'd brought up). I can't remember how it got started ... I think because I smelled like wet dog after Skyler's "walk" Anyway, he's much more attuned to the subject than I'd expect a pre-teen boy to necessarily be and knew just what I was talking about. Quite something. We must have talked for nearly an hour about this subject alone. It was inspired by you really, so thanks - again ;)

Theresa - Sounds like you liked the Brook Benton workout? That's how I tend to interpret sweating like a pig (at least on this check-in. A very good thing :p). Also, something you said yesterday about getting a B but wanting an A - that made me smile, I think because I understand -- also expect that you would. And you will get one. Progress and change can be so tough (there's a looming statement of the obvious for you ). I bet you're a tough grader too, though. Sometimes I have trouble even seeing my own growth or improvement. It's just, it doesn't always look the way I think it should. It's not as obvious in the ways I'd expect it to be or something. (What is this woman trying to say????). Don't know. I'm just spewing, but I feel like I'm working to make some changes, too. Maybe most of us are, most of the time. Wish I was clearer on what they were exactly though. It's more a sense of needing to move away from some things as opposed to moving towards a particular goal - more to do with behaviors than outcomes. Might be easier if it weren't so bloomin' VAGUE. Sometimes things just are though - vague -and you have to trust your gut. No idea if any of this made any sense at all - your post obviously got me thinking though. Enjoy your workout today :D

Ok. That is quite enough from me.

Have a great morning.

Lori

Cheryl-Imax 3 is quite amibitious for your workout time :) Nice job.

debbie-glad to hear the ankle is better, as well as good news regarding your mother. And that is a GREAT calorie burn for walking. :)

Lori-good workouts yesterday, I like your two a day idea but it would never happen for me. And your post made total sense. I know I can be my toughest critic (grader :p) and I am trying to lighten that a bit. I have this all or nothing mentality at times and it is to rigid to be condusive to life. I am trying to see the good things I do as well as the not so good and find ways to improve. Plus, it's nice to have goals and things to work on rather than being stagnant, as I'm sure you will agree :) Have fun w/ your workouts today.

Today's workout was 4Day Split Kickbox cardio only mix stopping at the stretch 31 min 207 calories max HR 160. Then I did Brook Benton's Cardio Pump Fusion crank segment 11 min 90 calories. Then I worked the core good:D Brook's Butts and Guts Express Abs 9 min 45 calories, Bosu Explode burn segment #5 with the ballast ball 13 min 72 calories, Core Max workout#2 stability ball 19 min 80 calories, 10 Min Solution Quick Sulpt Pilates core 10 min 38 calories. I finished with Jillian's Yoga Meltdow level 1 34 min 154 calories. 676 calories 2 hr 7 min. .
I am headed out to the library with the grandchildren:D I will do personals in a little while.

Hermia - Congrats on your upcoming nuptuals. You are right, men usually leave all the planning to us. Me and my dh did it right, we just went to a church and got married without anyone else there. My first wedding was a huge one and to this day I wonder why I wasted so much time and money. LOL! Sorry, don't mean to be a downer. It would have been great memories had my marriage worked out.

Cheryl - Nice job on Imax 3, that is not an easy workout. I don't reach for that one much, I really should try it again soon. Maybe I will once my ankle is good to go. And LOL on my calorie burn. I was really happy with it.

Theresa - Nice workout yesterday. I've been sweating so much now that it's humid out. I sort of like it. I always feel like I'm burning more fat when I sweat so much.

Diane Sue - Excellent workout today! Have fun at the library! :)

Linda - Where are you? I thought you'd be back by now... :(

Lori - I have two psychotic Aussies: one is almost 7 and the younger is just over 2 years old. As far as energy levels go they definitely seem like having 4 dogs!! Even my 7 year old male is still full of energy and NEEDS to run excessively every day. My little girl is extremely smart (border collie smart), so we lovingly call her Lassie. My DH is constantly talking to her about "toughening up" and telling her to "find Timmy in the well"- uh huh - very funny stuff! :D I run with them every morning and often take them swimming/hiking or biking in the evening. It is so much easier to have them at camp because they get a ton of exercise and REALLY seem to smile at the end of the day. Last weekend my baby (Molly) swam in the lake for over 2 hours. We tried to coax her out, but she just kept swimming from the dive platform back to shore - about a zillion times. She then decided to plop her wet-dog self in my (previously dry) lap for a nap. :)
I love Beagles, however, and wouldn't mind having a less "high maintenance" dog in the future.

I am off to camp (2) tonight and have Drill Max on tap for tomorrow morning. Hopefully I will get back in my groove....

Cheryl

P.S. I have to say IMax 3 is really not one of my favs....don't know why I picked that one for today.

Lots, going on here today so it was hard to get back here. The insurance people came out to pick up our fifth wheel trailer. It was kind of sad watching it leave. My grandson said "there goes a lot of good memories" . So the library trip took longer. We stopped at Subway on the way. My dog dragged the baby bunny that was in my planter up on the door step:eek: My granddaughter thought it was sleeping. I tried to catch it last night because it was so tiny we didn't think it would survive on it's own and it has been hanging in our garden for several days. I was going to take care of it till it was a little older but it took off under the gate:confused:

Lori, the weather here is definitely summer like. I bet before long we have the usual late summer drought. It was looking a little cloudy again when I went outside to do some things. I might do the guantlet tomorrow. Depending on my energy levels in the morning:) I have quite a few yoga workouts now so I have plenty to cycle through. I just ordered the Bob Harper workouts that include a nice looking yoga workout at mytrainerbobdvd.com . I am looking forward to getting these.

Cheryl, I like I Max 3, but I think I Max 2 is my favorite. I don't like the long dragging warm up on the original Interval Max. Once past that I like it ok.

Debbie, that was a good calorie burn for a walk:D

Where is Linda?? Did I miss something?

I did Janet Saffell's Hardcore Kickbox Circuit (with Guillarmo Gomez). It's about 45 minutes long. There are 4 combos that aren't very hard to pick up and some light weight work between each. Also a bonus segment with some Aikido (sp?) drills - kind of like them but didn't have time this afternoon. It's a pretty fun workout - but not very intense. I think that is about verbatim what I say for many/most kickbox workouts I have. Why is that? About to go do a mix from bodyrock tv and some kb practice. I still have some work I need to finish tonight. My afternoon got taken up by stuff with DS (not complaining, mind you). I'm hoping a workout will clear my foggy head - would be helpful if it were clearer.

Theresa - I do agree. For months now I've been working on refocusing and setting some new goals, etc. Just not quite getting there. All or nothing can be a tripwire for me too. I didn't mean to babble on so much earlier though  - just appreciate your shared thoughts - kinda brought me back to my own. The two a day workout thing is largely a response to my schedule. Just seems like during the day I can find openings to work out but they're not quite as long as I feel like I want or need. So if I break up my workout, I can do what I'd scheduled without feeling rushed (or guilty - cuz I "should" be doing something else). Plus I'll get the post exercise energy boost, twice. Sounds good but there are problems with it. My hair - long and very thick - takes forever to dry after I wash it - sweatiness is an issue - to name one. Funny how little things like that get in the way. For quite some time I've gotten in a couple workouts a couple times a week - not structured like this though - so, we'll see.

Diane Sue - Poor bunny ... and poor trailer. Sounds like a long day. Btw, thank you for mentioning the website. I'm thinking I need to expand my yoga collection. After my grumping about the weather, today ended up being really nice. All the rain was actually much needed as we've had drought conditions for a few years now. Shame on me . I share your opinion about the Imax workouts. I like them all - the original's warm-up is the only thing that carries and "ugghh" factor for me. Hope you have the energy to enjoy the Gauntlet. It's fun if you do, I think. If you're dragging though, not so much. You seem to be hitting it really hard this week :D

Cheryl - Your DH sounds a lot like my son (find Timmie in the well) That IS funny :D - Good sense of humor. Aussie's are beautiful dogs. Their energy level sounds about par to yours :p !! Good match there. I have fallen in love with Beagle's -- really had no opinion about them before Skyler. I just wasn't familiar with them. She is though, the most loving and funny little dog I've ever met and you're right - not terribly high maintenance. She seems to need a lot of exercise but if she doesn't get it, she just sighs a lot and grumbles to herself  About par to me ;)

Lora - Hope you're doing alright.

Good night.

Lori
