Hair color question

yes & yes

“In the beginning there was nothing. God said, 'Let there be light!' And there was light. There was still nothing, but you could see it a whole lot better.” --Ellen Degeneres

I just colored my hair for the first time a few weeks ago and used Nice and Easy by Clairol and I like how it came out.

I used it once, but switched to High Demensions for more highlights. I didn't liek coloring my WHOLE hair. Highlights look cooler IMO for me and my age.

I use the Loreal 2 step colouring and I really like it. You color all over with one color and highlight with another. But one question. I usually get someone to do the highlighting part, but I want to be able to do it on my own. So,how can I put the strips of highlights in without being able to see the back? I just don't want to depend on someone to help me all the time!

But I looooove this hair colouring!!

I have seen that Kim. I am not the brave to put in highlights! It might be easier to do your own if you have one of those mirrors that hang on the wall and extend out so you can see the back of your head. I would still think it wouldn't be "easy" though!
I just want a very nice rich brown. I called clairol and they said if my hair was getting dry and damaged from coloring (which it is) it might be better to switch to hydrience from nice and easy.
I just wanted to get some opinions on it as I have never used that one.
thanks everyone for your comments.

For what it's worth, my hairdresser (the owner of her salon) told me to avoid Hydrience like the plague. She said it was harder on the hair than any other store-brand dye, and she has had to fix more mistakes from that brand than any other.

My cousin is a hair stylist .. and she said the same thing! That Hydrience was hard on your hair .. and that if you used it .. you could not use another brand .. something about the pigments they use in their formula .. ??? ...

when I have to color .. I like Loreal Preference ..

Sorry Paula, I don't have any other suggestions for store-bought brands. After multiple home haircolor disasters, I decided to bite the bullet and have it done at the salon. And lately, I'm growing out my hair for Locks of Love (charity), so I can't do color anyway. :)

Good luck!

I have always used Loreal Feria. I tried a different brand once last year and fried my hair. It took about a year to get it healthy again. I vote Loreal!

I have tried just about everything that has been mentioned - I have had graying hair since I was 16! My favorite is Nutrisse by Garnier - it has the best smell, it lasts for me, and isn't hard on my hair. I used to get it done at the salon, but since I've had my kids its too hard to go to the salon for 3 hours to get my hair done. (Not to mention the cost, which I can't seem to get past now that I have kids!)So now my DH does it for me once the kiddies are off to bed, and in about an hour 15 minutes, I'm done! Nutrisse has recently added highlighting kits to their line, and I'm intrigued to try them.

I have used Loreal Preference for many years and love it! I recently switched hairdressers and she thought this was my natural color because she said she'd never felt colored hair that felt so soft and in such great condition. And my hair is very long also. I use Preference 9A Natural Blonde color.

My mom and both sisters only use Preference also.

Hydrience is my favorite. I have tried all the other brands and didn't like them for various reasons. Also, I have hard to color gray hair and it really works for me. My hairdresser said my hair is in good condition. I alternate between doing it myself and going to the salon. I have not had trouble with the color taking. Anyhow, it sounds like it depends on each persons hair type. Good Luck! Melissa
