DH made the best last night.
Avocado, canned tomato with chilis, lime juice, chopped onions.
He didn't measure anything just mixed it up till it tasted good. It was yummy and I don't like that stuff from the restaurants. Just thought I'd share!:)

Sounds good! I haven't tried making it with canned tomatoes before. I'll have to give that a try! Thanks!

Mmmmmm that sounds yummy! I think I'd use some fresh Jersey tomatoes & probably a dollop of sour cream too........:9

Gosh, now I'm making myself hungry! :p

Mmmmmm. Guacamole = goooooood.

I'm a bit of a purist. Just mashed avocado, garlic, salt, and lemon juice.

Now I'm craving my Mexican wrap! Chicken, guacamole, tomato, salsa, lettuce, maybe a hint of cheddar or pepper jack, on a whole wheat wrap.

Time to modify the grocery list!

:)

After reading this thread, looks like low-fat Seven Layer Dip might have to be dinner tonight. Oh, how I love Mexican food!

Hi Ladies,

I make mine with fresh chopped onions, tomatos, jalapenos and cylantro
then you add some lemon juice and salt and pepper to taste.

Hi Runner-Girl-

Did you use Ro-Tel tomatoes or a different brand? That's a clever recipe tweak.

Guac is one my favorite foods of all time.... I do mine w/ vidalia onion, fresh tomato (if they are decent), a ton of cilantro, garlic, and a bunch of freshly squeezed lime. Salt and Pepper to taste. Love the stuff so much, that if it didn't gross people out, I would probably eat it straight out of the bowl and bypass the chips!

I shouldn't have read this thread: now I've got a hankerin' for guacamole (and no avocados around!).

I once made a 'clean out the fridge' guacamole, with avocado, italian dressing, black olives, chopped celery, maybe some other ingredients I forgot. Turned out really tasty!

I have a friend who makes a pea dip (made from fresh frozen peas) that everyone assumes is guacomole! I haven't tried making it yet, but it is really good! It is a healthier alternative to the real thing! (I can't tell the difference, either!)

It's hard to goof up an avacodo. They are sooooooo good!

I've done that. You can also make a non-avocado guacamole using broccoli (steam the stems and mash them). Or, if you don't want to go all-pea or all-broccoli, mix a bit of either in with the avocado to lower the fat content of the guacamole.

LauraMax - I've been loving wraps lately. A big yes to the tomato AND the sour cream. This last time I used some of my Greek strained plain non-fat yogurt. I felt so virtuous! :p

Remember the "Behold the Power of Cheese" commercials? They were made for me.

I love every kind of full fat dairy product that's out there. Very interesting to me with the Eat Clean regimen that I'm reaching for the cheese less and less.
