Here's what I have in the way of Cathe-all dvds....PUB/PLB, CTX Series, Cardio Kicks/Circuit Max, Timesaver, KPC/LG, Ab Hits & Classics.

I really want to blast my butt, hips & thighs. Which should I spend my $ on this go round? Freestyle Book, Lower Body Solution or Imax 2? I can only workout at home...the gym isn't an option for me.

Thanks in advance for the input!

What freestyle book are we talking about here? I heard Lower Body Solution requires the equipment at a gym, no? Someone at Amazon posted their disappointment in LBS because of it. Alexis

One and the same--well, Freestyle was the first one with the author of LBS (Dayton) in conjunction with Snyder. That's why I posted here because I saw the same write up. That's also why I pointed out that I did not have access to a gym. Somewhere a little further down is a post about freestyle and I think someone says you can sub stuff to make it "at home friendly". Not sure that I know enough exercises to sub though.

Same here. Maybe we'll get more info. I'm more interested in LBS because the author says it's geared more towards regular people, not bodybuilders and that's me! Alexis

The LBS book was about 12 dollars if I remember correctly. It does have lots of good information including a ballet style workout where you do every possible variation on a plie that there is. It can be done at home.

Of the workouts you already have, you could do Leaner Legs on Monday, Timesaver 5 on Wednesday, and PLB on Friday. This would really work your lower half in a way similar to LBS. Laura starts you out working three days a week anyway. It may be enough. You may not need to work them more than that. I would try that rotation and see how it goes.

Jane, Thank you so much! Great info to get me started. So, you think the book has too many exercises requiring the gym or do you think it's easily adaptable for home exercisers? Alexis

Jane,

Where did you get the LBS book for $12? For that, I'd get it just to have it. I'm looking online and it's showing $25.

Also, thanks for posting that rotation.:D

Hi Sue, I called the phone number on the www.slimandfit.com website because I read that you need a gym for the Lower Body Solution on Amazon. She sent me a tape and workout cards to adapt the workout for the home. It helped but I still would rather workout with Cathe because I seem to push myself harder with her tapes. The books are geared more towards weight training and Imax2 is cardio if that helps.

I bought the book at Borders when it first came out. As I said in another post, the routine is good but it's boring to work out from a book every day.

To give you an example of one of her routines:

15 oblique crunches (she calls them cross crunches)
step ups (3 sets of 15)
pec dec (3 sets of 12) you could do bench presses or push ups
lunge walk (3 sets of 15)
one arm dumbell row (3 sets of 12)
upright row (3 sets of 12)
hip extension machine (3 sets of 15)you could do abductor lifts with ankles weights
standing calf raise (3 sets of 15)
15 back extensions (Supermans)
25 minutes on treadmill at moderate to high intensity

The next day you'll do a similar routine but not the exact same exercises. You might do squats instead of lunges and bicep and
tricep work for the upper body. For cardio. you'll do 25 minutes on a bike instead. One the third day, you repeat the first day's routine.

Anyway, you start at three days per week and work up to six. She also includes a home workout that requires no equipment once a week. It's usually unweighted squats, lunges etc. and push-ups and tricep dips.

Basically what she does is combine an endurance weight routine with a short cardio workout. She has you doing this six days a week so you're gonna get some results because it's pretty intense.

Sue, I have the Freestyle training manual. I tried to sell it before but it didn't sell. It is the manual that came with the unit. By George Snyder and Laura Dayton. It is dated copyright1995 if that is what you are looking for. I'd love to find a new home for it. [email protected]

Thanks,Linda
