For those of you using the Sissel-Online Bands...

Just a warning - I've had my Extra Strong (purple) band since March. I use it fairly regularly, especially when I'm on a P90X rotation. I was using it Monday and it snapped, hitting the back of my hand. I just found out that it actually broke my middle finger on my left hand (had an OBGYN appt yesterday and she forced me to get it XRay'd- I like to think I'm too tough to break anything!).

I check my bands every time before I use them, so I don't know what else to recommend to prevent this, but just know it can happen. (I was doing a P90X exercise called Heavy Pants, incase you want to know).

Thanks for posting this Christine.
I got whacked in the head last spring with another type of band...
I hope your finger is ok and heals fast!

Thanks Christine, My bands are all Dynabands or reebok band. I have only broken one and that was a lower intensity pink one that I had purchased many years ago when doing a Kari Anderson Video. Funny I still have these. I powder mine periodiacally since it does seem to matter if they are latex. They do deteriorate fairly quickly. It gets sticky. I have two of the green ones that Cathe put out with the hardcore series. I also had some tubing snap out of the handle and break. Now that one hurt. Also I had a cable break while doing Leg curls on my bench and my legs went flying. That hurt expecting weight that was not there. Anyway, I am saying is to not take these devices for granted. They do wear out eventually

Christine, Barb, and Diane Sue,

I'm so sorry you all got hurt! Thank you for the warning and the reminder to always be careful.

Christine, I hope your finger is healing up well!

Ouch!

I don't use their bands, but I use their door attachment (which seems much safer than the BB one).

I'm not sure how to prevent a band snapping, but it's probably a good idea to check out the bands before each workout (especially after you've been using them for a while). If there's any indication of stress (usually a lighter-colored or even whitish area on the band), don't use the band..
