Flooring question - need suggestions please

Hello, Cathe and experienced crowd -

Can you offer any suggestions on how I might be able to improve my situation at home? I exercise on ceramic tile laid on top of a concrete slab. I know - very, very bad. I've always been on a slab, but until the past two years, I've had carpet with a pad to help absorb the shock. My problem lately is slight bruising to the balls of my feet - happens quite a lot when I do the high impact stuff like KM intensity drills... which I really don't want to give up.

I've heard of "puzzle mats." Are those a possibility? Anything else that might help, short of a new floor? Thanks for any suggestions you can give!

Shannon-
In the past month we added to puzzle mats in a double layer, over our carpet, which is over cement. The change is dramatic. let me give you a word of caution though. Be sure they are secure so they don't slip around. We put them down in a large area and use 25# plates in some corners to keep them in place. If you can manage them wall to wall it helps.

I purchased them at BJ's but they are available in many stores. The ones in BJ's were thinner so we doubled them.

You can also buy the interlocking anti fatigue mats at Sam's Club and they now have the colors with the gray on the other side. I use the 1/2" on my basement floor and it helps alot!

You can also pay more for them at Home Depot. I also believe that Walmart sells them but have not seen them there.

Hmmm. I suppose I should check them out. But I exercise in a large living room, and there's no way I can do them wall to wall. And I'll have to take them up each time. Thanks for the info, ladies.

Great question Shannon!
I've been wondering what to do in my basement. I currently use a 4x6 wood platform with matting on top, which works wonderful. But now that I have graduated to Cathe's workouts, I need more workout space.;-) I was curious if the interlocking floor mats would be sufficient. Now I know what my next purchase will be!
Thanks everyone!:)

I hope I can add to your decision!!!
I bought mine at The Sport Authority. I was concern with all the Plyo jumps to be to hard on my body, and haven't regret getting all the hardrubber floor. They also go by the name of "gym floor"
I bought the thickest one, and my legs have never bother me again, and I can enjoy all high impact with ease. Highly recommend it!!!
