Firm Fanny Lifter vs. High Step

Hi Everyone,

I am debating whether to get the Firm Fanny Lifter or the original High Step. The Fanny Lifter is significantly less expensive and it goes up to 14 inches, which is the same as the high step with 5 risers. For those of you who have tried both, which is sturdier? Does it actually make a big difference if I have one over the other? Will I regret not having spent the extra money on the high step if I get the fanny lifter? I live in Canada and the high step is pretty hard to find unless I order it online from the states and pay and arm and a leg for shipping and import taxes. Having said that, I will get the high step if it is of much better quality than the fanny lifter. What should I do?

Take care,

Ady

I would only get the high step. It is much more stable and it is very nice to have the extra risers to use on my regular Club Step too. You also have a lot more options for step height with the High Step - vs the only 3 heights that you get with the Fanny Lifter.

JM2C :)

Edited to say that the High Step is very comfortable to work on when you need a chair or something to sit on to do certain exercises - and especially since I am 5'11" = I can add an extra riser or two for a little more height. Love my high step!!!

Agreed with everything Anne said. The High Step is so much more adjustable, and sturdy than the Fanny Lifter. I have a Fanny Lifter (from my old Firm days) and it now lives out the rest of its useful life as a step stool in the garage. Nothing beats the High Step for workouts! :)

ETA - if you already have a Club Step with risers, you may only need to order the High Step Topper, because it uses the same risers the Club Step uses! That would help you save on shipping costs. :)

I use the Firm step and have absolutely no problem with it and I see no reason to shell out more money. However, if you have neither, I would spend the dough for the High Step as it is more adjustable and probably a bit more comfortable.

I have a fanny lifter and I am going to get the high step for two reasons. 1 - I could use the extra risers for my strength workouts and, 2 - the fanny lifter only has 2 heigh choices as mentioned earlier. The surface of it can be a little slippery too and I think I would much prefer stepping on the larger, rubber protected surface of the high step. That is my next big purchase after which my FL will be history.

Don't forget, Club Step products are also built differently so there is "give" on the surface, which makes the impact on your joints easier. Isn't the Fanny Lifter just hard plastic? Or do they still make it out of wood??? (Wow, that was a blast from the past, lol.)

Also, you can interchange the HS risers with your Club Step, so you have lots more versatility.

I agree: the High Step all the way (though the Fanny Lifter does make a nice laptop computer table, which is what it is now relegated to at my house!).

LOL, Kathryn!!! Mine is the old wooden Fanny Lifter and it's a lovely stool for the kitties to lay on in front of the window!:7

I have one of those, too, but it doesn't have much purpose right now (just for keeping 'junk' off the floor). Maybe I'll move it in front of a window and see if any of the 'kids'like it!

IF you already own the Original Step, all you would need is the High Step Topper, which is alot less expensive then both the High Step and the Fanny Lifter.

This is true although in my case it would only be a few bucks more to buy the whole deal at Sports Authority and get the whole thing than spend the money on the shipping that SNM will charge.

Do you have any friends in the states that could pick one up for you and then ship it to you? Would it be cheaper that way?

If you don't have either, I would highly recommend the high step. It is much more versatile than the Fanny Lifter. And as others have stated, if you have a step already you may only need to buy the topper, which would be cheaper.

They have the high step at Sports Authority? I have checked all of the sporting stores in my area and couldn't find one. I keep checking but still no luck.

Hi!

I had all the Firm steps from wooden, to the blue and purple to the transfirmer and that one that had the legs on the side (who several had issues with breaking). I have replaced them all with the club step and high club step. Now all my risers stack together nicely. Also, they are much more comfortable for step workouts and weight workouts vs laying or stepping on the hard plastic. I gave away all my Firm steps and do not regret it.
