Does anyone have any suggestions for nail hardening products?
Vitamins or otherwise as well.
I've tried OPI nail envy, i've tried nailtique and sally hansens and my nails still are soft and want to break, usually from the edges.
I'd like to have nice nails as i have a few important functions coming up this summer.

Hi Wendy....as a manicurist my suggestion would be getting a manicure maybe every 2 weeks or so, or at least before the important functions. Manicurists usually have hardening polishes they like. I am not sure I believe in vitamins as much as heredity!! Unfortunately only a small percentage of women have very nice strong nails...:)...

I agree with Carole that a lot of it is heredity. My only suggestion is to keep your nails polished as often as possible. Mine always seem stronger when I polish them more often. Also, they sell something on QVC called "TIPS" that some women swear by.

I've found that what helps my nails most is eating a lot more protein.

I am a veggie, and I was very careless about protein for many years. My health wasn't that great, and my nails were atrocious. They were thin and peeled at the drop of a hat. I even had big holes in the outer layers where they would bubble up then peel off. Very yucky.

Since I've been eating adequate protein, my nails are hard and long. They never peel, never develop holes, and rarely even break. In fact, I have to work really hard to file them down and keep them short enough to work with.

YES! That OPI nail envy is pretty good, but it gets all thick and sticky once you get about halfway through with the bottle. Get Millionails. It's great stuff. Put it on every 2 days.

I've always had very soft and bendy nails. Once I started using OPI Nail Envy, and then later the Millionails, they got very nice. I still have one finger that has a bendy nail, but they're way better than they used to be.

My nails seemed much stronger when I was taking pre-natal vitamins. I'm not sure if a regular multi-vitamin would have the same effect as I can never remember to take them consistently for some reason. Anyway...for what it's worth the pre-natals did seem to make a difference.

There is this stuff I use from Avon that works, for me at least. I can't remember what it's called, but it's not a polish. It's just this liquid you brush on your nails every day. I have nails that are about as thick as tissue paper and this stuff has helped as long as I do it every day without fail. I think you can even put it on several times a day. I'm sorry I can't remember the name. I just know that it's in a blue bottle with a white top.

I have had the worst nails my entire life. Thin, bendy nails that split or tear unless I keep them super short.

I started taking vitamins for hair growth about 6 months ago and I have to clip my nails every couple of days. I take Phyto something-or-other for hair and nails. They are strong and nothing like I have ever experienced. In fact I was considering getting acrylics just before Christmas but decided against it because of how fast they grow...I could not afford the fills.

For the first time in my life I think I could actually consider letting them grow a bit and just getting a manicure.
