For PLB, dumbells work fine. Cathe uses a barbell. The bar needs changed way too much so I use dumbells to avoid this. Cathe even says in the video that using dumbells are fine. You will need a big exercise ball for this one, otherwise you miss half the workout. A high step or fanny lifter for the legg presses.
For muscle endurance you need a high step for the leg presses, tricep dips and to "have a seat" while doing other strength moves. I started this workout using only dumbells and it worked fine. Various weighted dumbells and barbell optional. You can substitute an 8 pound dumbell for the medicine ball.
So, to summerize:
PLB: high step or fanny lifter, exercise ball, dumbells or barbell.
ME: high step or fanny lifter, various dumbells, barbell(optional), medicine ball (optional)
