Equipment Question

Obviously, I'm not Cathe but I can answer this one if you'd like. I had considered this when I wanted to switch to Cathe. Long story short...no. I started with Step Heat as my first "Cathe". In this one, she moves up and down the step throughout. I don't see that you could make that work with just the fanny lifter.

See if you have a play it again sports in your area. They may have a decent step at a good price. Also, check thrift stores.

The step has come down considerably in price. KMart & WalMart now sell them for about $60.

My Walmart only carries the Body Shaping step which is much shorter than the ones Cathe uses in her videos. Make sure you get a "club" size step so that it is long enough. When I first switched to Cathe I only had the short Body Shaping step and it was very hard doing Cathe's workouts on this step.

You have all been so helpful! I have been ready to take my workouts up a notch for a while and a friend loaned me some Cathe vids to try out. I love them so far - I have done Cardio Kicks and I love it. However, I have to watch expenses and can either get some Cathe tapes or the bench and barbell so what I would like to know is what Cathe workouts can I do while I am saving for the bench and barbell. I have the Firm fanny lifter and a good set of dumbells. I think I can get a barbell at Walmart at a good price but I am not sure. My hubby has a curling bar - can I use that until I get something else? I am going to check that out today and if it is not too expensive I am going to get one. Thank you again for your replies!
 
Well Kathy, I would be delighted to send you my extra step if you want it! I found it at goodwill and bought it for the risers :)
 
You can get extra risers for $15/pr (you could probably start with just a pair) at www.spriproducts.com, or just use it without the risers (4"). With the aerobic step, you could get ANY of Cathe's aerobic step tapes.

Cathe uses barbell and higher bench for her strength workouts. For the longest time, I only use dumbells... I only find that I only need the barbell for leg work esp when I want to increase the load. You don't need higher bench step if you already have a weight bench (she uses it mainly to lie down)... which I assume your husband does.

Michelle! My friend who sent me the tapes! You are wonderful! I would have to pay you for it and the shipping, and I wouldn't turn it down. I borrowed one from a friend here in town but she needs it back Tuesday for her working out. :) :) :)
