DVD Users: Programming a multi-disc DVD

Hi Everyone,

I know this is an old topic but I am looking to purchase a multi-disc DVD player that will program across the discs. What do I look for in the product specs? I've never seen it mentioned on any of the DVD players I've looked at so far.

I've looked at Sony and Toshiba models because they have multi-disc capabilities. Do you program ahead of time and does it save the configuration for later use or just that use? Is it just easier to select the chapters as you do your workout (figuring out ahead of time what your workout plan will be), so that being able to pre-set your program isn't an important feature? And finally, do most of you have multi-disc players or single disc players (and just do more swapping during the workout)?

I have all but one of Cathe's videos but want to switch to DVD. I pre-ordered the Body Blast series on DVD, but don't have a DVD player yet. I figure I still have a little time to decide what's best before the DVD's arrive.

Thanks,

KellieM

Hi Kellie!
I can't answer all of your questions, but I can answer a few!:p First, I would definitely go with a multi-disc player. I used a single disc for awhile and then got a five disc and the different possibilities with a multi-disc are endless.
I haven't taken the time to program my player, so I can't answer your question on that one. I just go to which chapter I want. At the very bottom of Cathe's homepage, she has the instructions on how to program your DVD player. Hope this helped a little!:)

Kellie,
I love my Sony 5-Disc CD changer. I sometimes just skip to the chapter I want and I sometimes program my DVD's. Either way works great! Also, if you are programming across say 3 DVD's you can go to each DVD and begin the workout you want, hit stop, go to the next one, etc. The DVD player remembers where you stopped it and begins play from that area so you can get all your DVD's ready to play from the portions of the workout that you want. I have never programmed my DVD player to save it overnight. It may save it as long as the power is on and the DVD's stay in the player. I'm not sure. Anyway, it sounds like the Body Blast will have a lot of premixes and workout options without having to program our DVD's! You will live a multi-disc player! The workout options are endless and it keeps everything fresh and new! Good luck in finding what works for you!

Kellie - another vote for a Sony 5-disker. I too am clueless about how to save programs; however, it's so ding-danged easy to cue up each disc to where you want it to start, immediately before your workout, that I don't really care that I can't save programs. Plus, it's too much fun to come up with new variations on already-tried personal mish-moshes that you won't miss saving programs if you can't do them.

I saw a Sony 5-disker on its website a week or so ago for about $179.00 plus shipping (btw, the 5-disker that I bought in December '02 is already obsolete, natch); I'm sure you'd be able to find a comparably priced one, or perhaps an even better price, at your local gizmo emporium.
