Uh oh @Murphymax , sorry ... it's Cathe & Chris's 4 Season's Gym, not cathedotcom, however as Cathe related the businesses are connected. They were asking for donations on GoFundMe to help the gym. It's under the thread "Four Season's closing " if you want to see her note.
Debinmi, that is so sad. Thank you for the information - I will look into it.

@Murphymax I think you may want to suss out Cathedotcom financial situation from Cathe herself.

Here is the thread link and cathe message. https://cathe.com/forum/threads/four-seasons-closing.321205/

A Note from Cathe:

Hi Cathletes,

I know many of you have seen the Four Seasons GoFundMe campaign that was launched yesterday in an effort to help keep our gym operating, and I wanted to quickly address some of your questions and concerns.

Yes, Four Seasons has been facing financial difficulties over the last year that have finally gotten a bit too heavy and are threatening to lead us to closure. Behind the scenes we have been working tirelessly to overcome the obstacles and try and keep everything operating. As we all know the price of pretty much everything has increased and managing the costs of a facility as large as four seasons is no easy task. At this point in time we are trying to come together as a community to see if we can turn things around.

I know for most of you the biggest questions are
1) what happens to Cathe Live if we are no longer in the gym?
2)what happens with the October roadtrip?
3)what happens with Cathe dot com and Cathe Ondemand?

Rest assured that we are working though all of the details surrounding Cathe dot Com. Cathe dot Com is NOT in bankruptcy, but does have heavy ties to Four Seasons for obvious reasons, but this does not mean that streaming and Live will cease if the gym doors close. Some changes will have to be made, but we have to handle each hurdle as it comes and right now our focus is on keeping the Four Seasons facility if we can. Steaming and Cathe Live are currently business as usual.

One side note about Cathe Live- tomorrow’s stream (June 4th) will be myself, Jenn and Kristen only. This is not a reflection of any of the current goings on at the gym. This was pre planned (and pre-recorded) because I am unavailable to hold the Live class tomorrow due to a doctor’s appointment that couldn’t be scheduled around our Live timeslot.

Regarding the roadtrip that is scheduled for October: The registration funds are currently being held in a separate account for safekeeping in the event that we need to cancel and refund attendees. In the next couple of weeks we will have a much clearer picture of what’s happening, and will make a decision on whether we can proceed in the gym as planned or whether we need a plan B location and/or cancellation. I know this isn’t a concrete answer, but I do not want to be too quick to cancel if we can still make this roadtrip happen. I know many (including me) are looking forward to it so please give me a little more time to see what we can make happen.

I know you probably have a million more questions, but please understand that our days are currently over scheduled with meetings, planning, talking to employees, gym members, instructors, the list goes on. As any new developments occur that affect our Cathlete community in any way I will update you as soon as possible.

Thanks so much everyone for your loyal and unwavering support!

Healthy hugs and much love,

Cathe

FitSaxe, thank you so much for posting this - I am not on any social media so I missed the post.

My heart hurts for Cathe and everyone associated with the gym (including all the Cathletes). This has be a challenging time.

Cathe's regular prices for streaming are much lower than competitors. Plus she offers more content, higher quality picture and sound, more functionality and doesn't do any third party marketing. All of that costs more. I can't think of anybody else who comes even close. Her regular price for the downloads is the same or cheaper than competitors' sale prices. She makes it easy to own the downloads. We don't have to use a third party app to play what we purchased which I refuse to do.

I'm afraid she will have to raise her prices just to stay in business and be able to pay for the overhead and everything else. I expect the price of the downloads will go up. There is even the possibility that the downloads might go away in favor of streaming. In the meantime, I'll keep buying downloads. I purchased 13 yesterday. I couldn't resist the the 2 recent total body cardio workouts. Of course I had to buy a few more.

If you're talking about the recent Cardio Total Body and Cardio Total Body 2, I purchased both of those as well.
They are great!
Great buys! Those 2 workouts triggered my download purchase yesterday. My favorite format. I wanted to make sure I had my own copy. I would love 10 more even if moves are repeated.
I'm so hoping Cathe will start adding some chaptering to Live downloads. Nothing fancy, just 4 or 5 time points to make repetition easier.

Opinion, opinion, opinion we need it. Now let's see trying-hard-big brother reaction on price increase !
@Soapmaker thank you for sharing your views regarding average price within the business. Despite the fact I am not shopping around, such information is always helpful.
Kind regards to you

Please share your reviews on your new 13 purchases.

Will do. We really need to write reviews for the live workouts. The ones I bought are: 273, 348, 366, 399, 498, 499, 529, 549, 579, 581, 594, 599, and 601.

I own ~100 Live workouts, ~200 GB of data. I've been buying a few every year since Live started. I also bought the DVD/downloads combo pre-orders. I just checked for a backup SSD hard drive on Amazon and was shocked by the prices. A hard drive I bought in 2019 for ~$60 is now over $150. I think prices for hard drive will continue to go up. That's something to plan for if you're considering buying downloads.

Thank you for pointing this out. Now We need more back up. I have also purchased some downloads. I have shared my review and will share more as I am adding. One I like a lot is One dumbbell total. It is unilateral and I am aiming at doing more of those, not solely:cool:. I have gained a lot in terms of abilities. Yes LMR, LMRE2 and few lives have helped me to fix imbalances and regain back strength and full shoulder ROM:D;) YES truly functional.

I will look into your purchase and who knows I might be enabled :D ;) /inspired.

I can not get over unilateral stuff because I feel I need it at this point. It worked so well.
I am hoping to get more from Cathe.

ETA: looking at your list above, we can sufficiently get busy while waiting for release announcement. No need to fidget the keyboard or phone :D

LOL, like you, I have purchased, I know, well over 100.......Earlier in the year, I did try to count them, and came up with close to 80, and since then, well, the rest is history! :) If you like unilateral based workouts, may I suggest, One Dumbbell Total Body and Compound Unilateral...both are great.....and also one that has a lot of unilateral moves and one of my favs, is Upper Body Birthday Party (I also affectionately call it the
Unicorn workout, cause she wears a little Unicorn headband) That one has an Overhead Press/Bicep curl combo that I am obsessed with, it's so much fun........ gotta love the Lives.....:)

I have both the one dumbbell (570) and the compound unilateral (588) and like both. They are nice to add to any strength rotation. I bought most Live workouts with metabolic/functional in the title. They are my main cardio.

Aqua Girl, thanks for the Upper Body Birthday Party recommendation. I do bicep curl to overhead press combo often. I'll be nice to have Cathe's take on it. Just tempo changes can make the moves feel very different. I need to try a number of the upper body Lives to pick a few to buy.

I'm looking forward to Cathe's 1000 Live workout.

I'm glad you also like the One Dumbbell workout. I'm with you on LMR and LMRE. I'm really glad Cathe produced them before the end of DVDs. My husband has been using them while rehabbing a shoulder injury. I think of them as the workouts to grow old with.

I'm holding my breath waiting for Cathe to get through all the legal stuff. What I appreciate the most about her is the fact that she always put safety first since she started producing DVDs for the home market. She always chose moves carefully and built balanced total body workouts. She never jumped on bandwagons. Her workouts evolved over time to emphasize functional movements and reduce injuries/imbalances. My form is always better when I listen to her instruction.

I can't wait to see what she comes up with over the next decade. Yep, she's not allowed to retire ever!
