Hey Donna,
I lost your email or I would have sent this message to you privately but I wanted to tell you that when I drove home on Tuesday, I thought about you as I drove past the silver spring exit on 495. (don't you hate that curvy section of the beltway!) I was down in the Rockville area at the same time you were in Silver Spring. Did you grow up in Silver Spring?? I had an apt. there when I attending U. of Md college park. Graduated in 1990. In a better circumstance it would have been fun to meet you. Hope your dad made it to the Dr. ok. It was really good to see my grandfather. Very very sad to say goodbye to him but he seems to be accepting death and just wants the suffering to end. I fear I'll be down there too soon again for the funeral.

Like you said, it has been a rough year but I've got my DH and children to keep me focused and remind me of what my priorities are. And my Cathe workouts and my buddies here help keep me sane :)

Hi Marci,

So sad about your grandfather, but it's good you got to see him, sometimes it helps to be able to say "goodbye" rather than missing that opportunity.

Yes, I do hate that part of the beltway, and traffic was horrific! We couldn't even get off on the SS exit due to heavy traffic and an actual line to get off at that exit. So I told hubby to drive up and take the 2nd exit and we'd back track.
The doc appt went well, no signs of his Cancer returning so far, so he's got the "thumbs up" for another 2 months until his next visit. :)

I grew up in N.W. Washington, D.C. originally, and my parents moved to Silver Spring in about 1983 I think. The whole area has changed so much! It was much smaller and less developed when I lived there. I'm trying to get my parents to move here to PA, but it's going to take some time to convince my mom! She loves the city, and I think she thinks that being in a small town means I have out door plumbing or something? :)

But you keep checking in here and we'll keep you sane! The support here can pull you through anything! :)

Glad your dad is doing well, thats great. When I lived in Rockville, I had a friend in silver spring and I know the Georgia ave. exit almost always had a line to exit. I think traffic was esp. bad on Tuesdauy since people were going back to work after the long weekend.

Everytime I go there there is more construction and more traffic. I live in NY now but much much further from the city than I lived in Md - traffic is an issue but not like down there. I just can't stand that traffic.

I lived in NH for 4 years and when we moved there from the DC area my family thought we were NUTS. The outdoor plumbing comment cracked me up. But we did however have our own well. My family found that out and pictured us going outside with a bucket to get water LOL!! OF course it was piped directly into the house.
