Do you make list?

I am going to the beach next weekend for a week and my DH tells me to make a list. I hate doing it even though I know it is good to do. We have never forgotten any thing serious, but I'm afraid one year we might. I guess it is weird that I hate writing down that stuff.

I curious if any of you make list and if you have gotten do your destination and forgot something major. I imagine that can be terrifying!

I always make a list. Some of the worst things that cannot be bought out of town are eyeglasses and contacts, cell phone, I could name quite a few. Then if you are going to visit someone it is bad to forget the vids, pics, things you were supposed to take. I have a list I started on things that others might not remember right now for our 4th of July campout. It also helps when I do a double check when I load the trailer.

Another list maker here, I know myself well and am willing to admit that I can be pretty scatterbrained, lists help keep me focussed. Shopping trips, day trips, menus for get togethers, to do, CDs to add to my collection all of these and more are list worthy. Now if I could just learn to stick to the lists! I go to the grocery store with a list of 8 or less and end up with a full cart! I'll put that on my list of things to do.......stick to the list!!!:+

Jane I feel that I will probably forget to look at that list. I have never been a fan of having list. I will get one of those books with the calendars to keep track of appointments, it doesn't happen. I never use it. Gosh I'm one crazy lady!

Laurie I can't count the times I've been in the grocery store for a few things and come out with a weeks worth. My DH tells me I won't spend as much if I make out lists. Ha! That doesn't work for me. Sticking to my list will not happen.

I'm planning a trip to Québec in a week! and I'm just now making my list (of clothes and things, but also of all the stuff I have to take for a workshop I'm giving. Forgetting the handouts, or my notes, or the props I'm using would be a real problem!).

I HATE traveling because I always obsess over having forgotten something important: my passport? money? personal care items? Did I remember to leave food for the cats? Did I clean the litter boxes?

One trip, I forgot my PJs (I usually just take a t shirt and either leggings in the winter, or short in the summer). I slept in my undies the first night, but bought a souvenir t-shirt and shorts the next day to use as pj's--and keep as souvenirs!

Kim, that's too funny about the annual calendar books. I have bought them at Christmas a few times vowing to get organized and put my appointments and such in them but it just never happens. The daily squares on my kitchen calendar though are stuffed with little notes and appointments crammed in practically indecipherable. I often refer to my system as 'disorganised organised'. It's a system known only to me but I never miss appointments and am never late (never a moment to spare either:p )

Oh yes, I'm a List Maker!! I love lists! Lots and lots of lists! I make lists because:

1. they ensure I don't forget anything; finding replacement items when you're travelling can be a huge PITA.

2. I get a great deal of satisfaction in crossing things off of my "to do" lists; I'll even write something on the to-do list that I've already done, just for the pleasure of crossing it off!

3. grocery shopping lists make sure I keep within my budget, and that I have all the ingredients I need to make my meals for the week.

Loves to be organized,
Sandra

You are one organized lady. Do you hold classes for any of that? I definitely would need to take one.

Maybe you should open up a class for all of us unorganized ladies.

I am definitely suck at the groc. store list.

yep... i make lists.. and more lists... and then i make more lists!!! lol!

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

LOL.. Sandra.. we must be long-lost sisters!! I plan my menus on Wednesday night for the following week, make my grocery list for my shopping day on Thursday. I am so disorganized, I have to work hard at this. If I don't forget to take my list on Thursday, I'm in good shape.

I've mentioned this before on this site... but I follow the wisdom of flylady.net. It has taken from house out of the gutter and made it a place that anyone can stop into any time.

Do any of you go into the grocery store and not plan on the meals for the whole week? I go in there and I just start randomly picking stuff for meals. I stand in the isle and try to think of the next meal to have. You would laugh at me if you went around the groc.store with me.

I really should make a list. You hear that don't ya!

I rarely make lists, but I just cook for me, so I get what I want.
I have a magnetized notepad on the fridge to keep track of stuff I need, but I rarely use it. I just end up getting the same stuff I usually do. I usually plan what I'm going to make/eat the same day.

Kim, if I did that, I'd be the grocery store days until of the hour I usually spend in there now. I have the memory of a gnat. I'd not remember a fourth of what I need!!

BTW .. what beach are you going to? If I remember your profile correctly, you are a NC girl too. We usually go to Myrtle Beach, SC when we go.

I am going to Atlantic beach. I have never been to Myrtle beach. I heard it is alot of fun.

Yeah maybe one year I will go to SC beach. Cause I know I will get sick of going to the same place.

I hate I won't have a computer to talk to you gals. Whose going to give me that encougement when I eat that ice cream, that pizza, that bag of potatoe chip? I don't know but I'm eating it anyway this week. He!He!He!

for some reason I am full of it today.

Seriously, I will have to keep each of you ladies voices on my shoulder.

Relax and enjoy yourself. We'll miss you. Try not to overdo it on the food but don't worry about every bite going into your mouth either. You are on vacation. Just don't do what I did last year. We went to Crabby Mike's which is about a zillion item buffet in Myrtle. Well let me tell ya.... I got my $19.99 worth!! I ate crab legs, shrimp... I can't remember all that I ate and then the dessert bar... OMG... every dessert you can think of and cheesecakes everywhere!! I thought I'd died and gone to heaven, then about an hour later I thought I died and gone to he!! Talk about miserable.... I was one miserable puppy!! I swore I'd never eat again.... until the next day that is!!!

I will eat in moderation if my body will allow it.The only seafood I eat is shrimp and it has to be fried. My DH always gets his broiled. That's probably how I should eat mine. And girl,I love banana pudding, and carrot cake. If I could find a place to make that superb, then I will chow down. And then cry later.

I made a list several years ago - actually I have a few of them - and I keep them saved on my PC. When packing time comes I just print out the appropriate list - kids camp, family camping, etc. This way stuff I've forgotten gets added to the list when we get home and now I think I have the perfect list! Never forget a thing.
I also have a camping menu with grocery list saved there too!

I am a crazy list maker. I make a list for everything. My daily "to do" list is always 2 months ahead and I have a special day each week to write out my "to do" lists (which is on my list for that day of course) and another day to make out my grocery list (also on my "to do" list for that day). My DH and kids think I'm nuts, but it works well for me!

For vacation, I use the same list every year so we never forget anything and I don't have to rewrite the list.

I don't, but I know it's a good thing to do. Actually, what I do is make mental lists. I think about what I need every day while I'm getting ready and just pack it as I'm done using it. Then I think about what I MIGHT need and pack that. The only thing I sometimes forget is my glasses, because I only wear them after taking out my contacts. That blows when I forget my glasses because I can't see ANYTHING without them!

I did make a To Do list this weekend while getting the last preparations for my daughter's birthday party finished. It was quite helpful, although I didn't get to cross everything off. My step-father showed up an hour early and I wasn't able to mop the kitchen and bathroom floors. That turned out to be OK, since there were kids running in and out with wet feet all day.

I just saw how Jane forgets to look at her lists. At work, I write down stuff in my daily planner, enter it into the Outlook planner and then have to put pop-up reminders on Outlook to get me to look at my planner. I'm an organizationally challenged person.
