My camera died. We need a new easy-to-use camera, not super complicated but with excellent photo quality and good zoom ability. Probably less than $200 to spend on it. Any ideas? Thanks!

I really love my Canon Powershot A camera (I think they're up to 8MP now, although mine is a 6MP and just as good). It's simple to use, takes great pictures, and really reasonable in price. I got mine for $230--that's with tax and shipping, AND I got loads of free stuff with it: a full-size tripod, a 1GB SD card, a camera case, and rechargeable batteries. I'm sure if you got just the camera, you could probably find it for $200 or less.

It's a little bigger than some of the really small compact cameras out there, but it's still pretty small. I like that it's a little bigger than a compact because my hands can be unsteady and if I can't capture the image right away, they come out blurry. This one's easy to grip, so I come out with crisp pictures every time.

Hope this helps!

I love my Casio Exilim--so easy to use, great quality photos and video clips, and best of all, it's tiny. I wanted something ultra compact for when I travel or go to weddings and other events and don't want to lug around a bulky camera. This one slips easily into a small purse or pocket. The later models now have 10.1 megapixels. I have the EXZ60 (with 6 mp) and have been considering an upgrade, although it's really not necessary.

I second the Canon Powershot A. I have the A570. It takes great photos and is easy to use. It is not ultra compact, but that makes it easier for me to use--and less likely to lose. I bought mine at Best Buy then later found that amazon.com had a better price on it.

Another vote for the Canon Powershot A570. I love mine. It is easy to use great pics and if you want to get fancy you can. Plus it has image stabilization, great fir taking pictures of moving kids. I just bought one for my father in law's birthday. 139. on amazon.

Canon and Nikon both make excellent cameras in every price range... if you went with either of these brands, you would most likely be very happy. I'm a Canon gal myself - all of my digital cameras have been Canons. :)

I have the Casio Exilim 10.1 mega pixels. It fits into your front pocket and in the palm your hand. Slides into your purse very well without bulk. Takes fantastic pictures. When you take pictures the whole back end of the camera is the picture you are aiming at. Love it! We bought it for less than $200 I think. or around in that area. But 10.1 pixels is not necessary unless you want to make posters or large pictures out of your photos. I do that, because the places we go to in the US truly need to be up on the walls as art work.

The idea is to die young as late as possible

Another canon recommendation. I have the A510, yep, it's pretty old, but it still takes great pics. It has been dropped and survived, and I plan to use it for a while longer!
