Diet reccommendations

I am currently on STS and do cardio/intervals 3-4 days a week. I am 5'6" and weigh 167. I have been trying to lose weight (for years!) I eat very healthy about 1600-2000 calories depending on weight training days. I started getting serious 3 months ago and I did drop 7 pounds, but that is it. Does anyone have any fat loss programs, books etc. that they have tried with success? Thanks

I think Tom Venutos e-book: Burn the Fat, Feed the muschle, is worth every penny!

I just started his program about 6 or so weeks ago and I am already leaner than I have ever gotten trying to do my own thing.

A couple of things that might be really helpful to you in that book are the guidelines to what foods to eat for maximum results, how to figure out your calorie needs and the whole concept of zig zagging.

I'm about as tall as you and am on a 1500 cal diet split into 5 meals a day equally, then eating 2000 cals worth of food every fourth day. Before, I used to hover around 1200 cals a day and not zig zag and nothing much ever seemed to change. But now I see changes.

If you can afford it, I highly recommend you get it, it makes for a fascinating and motivating read!

Good luck!

Body for Life

Body for Life has helped a lot of people lose weight and even lean out. It's by Bill Phillips. His program is easy to follow, and even allows for a cheat meal, his theory being that life has to have it's indulgences, and that way you dont' totally go crazy if you have an event to attend where there is food - you just plan your meal around that. Bodyforlife.com is chalked full of thousands of easy and delicious recipes and they add more all the time, its great!
I would also recommend googling the "Harris Benedict equation" so that you can calculate and research yourself exactly how many calories you need and even calculate the exact grams of carbs, protein, and fat you need. Every body has different needs. So every weight loss program works differently for each body.

My Husband and I have changed our life with David Zinczenko, The Abs Diet book (there is even a version for women). He is the Editor-in-cheif of Mens health magazine. Simple recipes, simple eating. He also is the author of "Eat This Not That" for eating out. We get new recipes and tips from Menshealth.com. Best of luck! p.s We have kept off 65 pounds and 20 pounds for six years.

As I stated earlier, Body for Life is a program we advocate at our gym and I know it has worked for many many of our clientele. My husband is having awesome success with P90x as well, and the meal plan is really well written and thorough that comes with it!
