decreasing thigh muscle size

Cathe,
I am quite muscular in my thigh region but my butt could use a little flattening for my liking. I do alot of step which I like, and some lunges, squats etc with no weight once or twice a week. I do upper body weights. I read alot and know that working the largest muscle help to decrease overall body fat, but was wondering if I cut out all lunges etc except for whatever might be during aerobic or step videos, (yours especially!) will I not be toned enough as I want less fat, more defintion but less size overall, i have had fat tested and it's not that high there but I am muscular.
Any advice?????

I'm not Cathe, but have you tried walking lunges? You lunge, but continue moving forward as you do so. I tend to incorporate these into walking workouts. I find walking decreases my quad bulge, but I throw in some sets of walking lunges so I don't completely lose my muscle tone.

I've had thunder thighs for most of my life, and I've noticed a large
difference lately that I have started doing my squats, lunges, dips etc. with heavier weights!

I went from 2 12lb dbs to a 26 lb barbell to a 36 lb barbell and most
recently to a 40 pound barbell... the heavier I go the more the rear of my thighs taper in. I'm thrilled!

I'm pear-shaped and have never had much luck slimming down doing squats and lunges, even with heavy weights. Plus, they bothered my knees to no end! The workouts that really slim down my thighs are Lotte Berk, Bar Method and lots of floorwork. I also found Cathe's Legs and Glutes ankle weight section to be very effective!

I am thinking....

alot of that is genetic but you might try higher reps, low weight combined with some running. Running really seems to lean people out. In my case I gotta be really careful with that or I end up skinny. I personally would not cut out any of your exercises but just do high reps. Just my two cents.
