Daily Plate users -help!

I started using the Daily Plate the Tuesday before Easter. I have it set for 2 lbs a week. It worked wonders til about 2 weeks or so ago. I have been stuck and not moving!!!! I am currently at 179.5 lbs, I am 5'8" It tells me to eat 1751/cals a day. I have it set for moderately active, and do not eat back the exercise cals - I sit at a desk all day. If I set it to lightly active, and add back the exercise, it comes back to the same number, if not a little more. I am pretty much spot on all days. Some days it goes to 1500, other days 1800, but I am normally right on. What's the deal? I have discovered that I eat alot of protein (at least for their calculator) not enough fat, and not enough carbs. I don't eat nearly as much sodium as I thought, most days I am way under on the sodium, and the days I am high it is like 105% so not very high. I eat a lot of lean meat/dairy, and a lot of fruit and veggies, not always clean, but not terrible either. I tried some BMR calculators and they all give me btwn 1600-1650 for BMR - which to my understanding I need to just live. Toss in a Cathe, and I would be well below that for the day. Is this why my scale is stuck??? On the other hand, I am still fitting into smaller clothes, so something is going right. I am measuring, and putting down everything that passes my lips. I drink btwn 10-12 glasses of water a day, plus whatever other beverages (tea, coffee, diet coke) so I am not lacking in hydration. What's the deal? Is it time for a trip to the Dr to see if something is out of whack?

Sometimes your body just hits a plateau. If you continue to be stuck on the plateau, change things up. Add in a different type of workout once or twice a week. For example if you're not doing any HIIT, add that in, or swithch from endurance workouts to heavy lifting or vice versa. Sometimes a small change in what you eat can break the plateau, whether it be by increasing your calories, changing the type of carbs you are eating, or calorie cycling. Unfortunately our bodies learn to adapt to what we are doing so we have to keep it guessing. Here's an article about it.

Good luck.

I agree with the plateau. Hate them though
If your BMR is 1650 and you're eating about 100 above that it sounds like you're doing well. (Don't forget to recalculate as you lose weight) A couple of thoughts
- Type of calories. How clean is mostly clean? For me this is an absolute requirement.
- Do you mix it up? Your body gets used to a routine. Just like Cathe's STS for exercise, your diet can use a shock once in awhile. There are all kinds of information on cycling - carb cycling, calorie cycling, etc. And no, none of them involve a bike :D Just keep it clean.
- And don't forget to change up the exercise as well. I find that I lose MUCH better when I do weights mixed with cardio.

Patience is a virtue. They tell me. I wish I had more of it. So I can sympathize with you. Good work on your progress!!

Patience isn't my best redeeming quality either:confused:

I finished up STS the 1st wk of May, took a week off and am now doing the PUB/PLB/BG with cardio days in btwn. I also just got The Terminator, to shake things up. Waiting for that to come in the mail. I've come along way (270 max wt) and am soooooooo close and frustrated. I was 185 for the longest, popped up to 191 before starting STS and got wonderful results w/ STS and am now stuck. It could be that I am just adjusting to the workout change and things will get moving again. My short term goal is 170 (so near, yet so far), long term I'd like to be 160, but I'd be ok at 170 for the rest of my life. I bought my very 1st ever pair of size 10 pants last weekend. I almost peed in them, I was so excited that they fit:p:D I was very happy to find TDP (someone on here recommended it) and it worked like a charm. Perhaps I am just stuck for the moment, I've been there before, too. I will keep plugging away, and things WILL move, right?? Yes, they will. :D:) The Terminator oughta shake things up, then I will be doing a 6 month STS, and will be so happy when STS cardio shows up.

Look how great you've done! Congratulations!! And I can soooooo relate. I was also about that at my max (I refused to go near a scale so it's anyone's guess). Got down and did the up/down same as you. Then I had an injury and hit menopause. BLAM! On came the pounds. And they REFUSE to come off again. So I really REALLY feel your frustration.

My goal is the same as yours :D I'm now a raw vegan. I eat about 1650 calories per day (after upping my calories once I found I was BELOW my RMR). These are super clean calories. My 'indulgence' is a baked sweet potato with a smidgen of Earth Balance. Once every 2 weeks I might have a vegan chocolate chip cookie (minimally processed ingredients) from Whole Foods. Woo Hoo! :p I try to up my (clean) calories once a week. Just to confuse this old body (I'm 52). I also do minimal grains and most of my carbs are from leafy greens and lower GI fruits (apples, berries, apricots in season). I use vegetarian, non-soy protein supplements

I use my GWF to track my activity and I burn between 2600 and 3000 calories per day (yesterday was > 3000 burned). And I STILL lose very, very slowly. Currently I'm stalled but I'm trying to push through it. My last weight drop was sudden and I know this is just how my body works.

I'm in my rest phase after completing STS and I always lose slower with cardio only. Looking forward to starting the 6mo STS when I get back from vacation mid-June.

So you are NOT alone.
