cutting down on cardio and increasing weights?

Hello,

So I've been sick for the whole week and was only able to complete one cardio session. However, I've been able to continue with weights for the whole week since it didn't affect my breathing too much. The week before this, I did about 5 sessions of cardio including interval training (step, eliptical, treadmill), walked about 25 miles on top of that throughout the week and strength training (4DS- worked bodyparts twice in the week). I lost about 0.5lbs during that week. Yet, by cutting down on the cardio, I've lost 3.5lbs this week. Is this odd or do I need to cut down the cardio? I have 45lbs left to lose. Any suggestions, input, or experiences would be appreciated.

Rita

P.S. My calories did not change at about 1700 calories a day.

Cutting back on cardio while increasing weights and lifting HEAVY can do wonders for any physique. Give it a shot. I have no doubt you'll be pleased! :)

Rita, I agree with Wendy! You'll be AMAZED at what shorter cardio and heavier weights will do for a body! Yours too! ENJOY! :)

Based on your suggestions, I guess I'll be trying out less cardio for the next two weeks. I'll try to find the right balance for my body.

Thanks for the advice!

Try to keep 3 cardio sessions per week though, even this much will be a huge reduction from what you were doing. This will give you more energy to focus on your weight training. But you don't necessarily have to cut out your walking. Walking fits both into "hard exercise" and "recreation" or "active rest" categories. So, as long as you are not trying to break land speed records, go ahead and walk, enjoy yourself and the fresh air. It will add to peace of mind and overall body health.

That said, if you love walking and trying to break land speed records, I don't see why you should give walking up!

Yep, cutting cardio down to about 2 or 3 hours a week and upping the weight work will do wonders for you physique. Cardio is a necessary evil, but not as necessary as everyone thinks it is.
