Creative circuit training ideas needed...

Cathlete
I just took over a weight class at the gym, and I am trying to transition the class to circuit style training where I would set up seperate stations. This way the class can work at their own pace and I dont have to do the workout with them. (I tried it for a few weeks but it was just too much with STS). Any creative ideas out there?? The cool thing is I work at a gym at an army base so most of the people in the gym are soldiers....I am thinking of changing the format to "Reactive Strength and Agility Training".....Just curious if anyone had any ideas....

You should ask Cathe about her Monday boot camp class (or maybe Jerry and/or Ellie can give you the details). I think it's exactly what you're looking for.

Hi Mindy - There's a CrossFit workout called "Fight Gone Bad" that uses a concept that might be useful for this. The original FGB is shown here: http://www.crossfit.com/cf-info/faq.html#WOD2

Here's a video of a FGB workout: http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/CrossFit_FGBSCDemoExplanation.wmv

The basic idea is that you set up 5 different exercise stations. Each person works at each station for 1 minute then moves to the next with no rest in between until they complete all 5 stations, then they take a 1 minute rest and do it again. This is usually done for 3 or 5 rounds. The real FGB has a scoring system, but that's purely optional.

You can set up the stations (or circuits) to accommodate for the equipment you have access to, skills of your participants, etc.

With this kind of setup, you can basically just stand back and run the timer while your participants run through the workout.
