Cookies by Design

I was thinking of sending my mom a "cookie basket" for Mother's Day this year. I can't make the trip b/c of work to be with her and wanted to send her something unique. My mom doesn't really like flowers so I thought this might be a good spin on the idea!

Just before I threw on the Cathe DVD for the evening's workout tonight, I saw a commercial for www.cookiesbydesign.com Their baskets seem very unique but also very expensive. $75 for a cookie basket w/one mylar balloon (and I don't get to pick the design!) is a lot in my book! They also charge $13 for delivery. Has anyone ever ordered from them? If so, was your experience a good one? Are they worth the price?

All input appreciated!

Christine :)

When DS was just born, my sister sent one to my then 2 year old DD (so she would receive flowers and presents, too!). It was beautiful! The cookies were delicious. It was a Disney theme, Mickey and Minnie Mouse. It was about 5 or 6 cookies put together to resemble a bouquet of flowers. I loved how original the idea was and DD smiled from ear to ear eating those cookies!

It sounds like a lot of money, though!

I'm certainly not an expert, but we've ordered from that company for work events. The clients really like them (lots of positive comments, very impressive to look at, great cookies) but I do agree that they're expensive.

Once I tried to get a personal order for a child's birthday and they were very difficult - I wanted to get Disney cookies with a personal sentiment, but they would only allow me to pick from an 'approved' list of phrases, not of which was what I wanted. That plus some delivery issues made me go elsewhere. I thought for that much money (almost $100 with delivery), they should at least let me put my personal wishes on the bouquet (kind of like letting you pick the balloon for the arrangement you describe above) But, that's just me - I like to get a little customer service for my money ;)

Hey Christine!!

There is a business in Andover called "Yummy Mummy Cookie Company". I don't know what services they provide and to what areas but it would be worth checking out. Their site is www.cookiefavors.com.
BTW, I sent my mom brownies from www.fairytalebrownies.com. This is my default mail order gift company and believe me, I made sure they were really good brownies before I sent them to anyone. :9

We've received cookies from cookiesbydesign as gifts and they are very good. Like you said, though, they are ridiculously expensive! If I was buying something like that, I would definitely shop around.

Didn't we all send Cathe a bouquet of cookies a while back? I think it was www.bloomingcookies.com or something like that, and it turned out great! They personalized the flower pot with her logo if I remember correctly...really cute!

Thanks guys! I checked around and decided to go with cookies by design, pricey or not. There was a basket there that just struck me and I really wanted *that one.* Silly, I know, but I opted out of the extras and it cost me $65. I need to call later today to make sure that they are going to get it to her on time.

That is what I love about this forum! There is always someone around that has heard of the company that you want to use or tried the product that you are wondering about, etc. :)

RE: Cookies by Design - Update

Just wanted to let you know that I searched the internet and other sites but I ended up oredring the one from Cookies By Design. I just really fell in love with it and got my heart set on it (although my wallet must have screamed when it saw the price! ;) )

My Mom got her delivery yesterday and SHE LOVED THE BASKET! She couldn't wait to eat it! ;)

well there are places that deliver gourmet cookies in boxes and then places (like the CBD) that deliver cookie baskets (that are meant to resemble flower baskets. It's all pretty dangerous if you want my opinion! ;)
