Chin Ups and Pull Ups

Soooooooooooooosan

Well, it may be a kindergarten mentality, but I'm not speaking to her either.:p

Honeybunch, thanks for the inverted row post. I've just gotten a smith machine and will work on these. So you recommend working with the inverted row INSTEAD of chinup negatives; BEFORE moving to chinup negatives; or IN ADDITION to chinup negatives? TIA.

This skinny older chick is determined to do chinups, but I've got alot of work yet. x(

RE: HB!

Honeybunch....has anyone ever told you that you are brutally honest? I'm sure they haven't so I feel this is my lot in life at present.

You are brutally honest. :p :p :p

There it's been done.

I've always felt that I'm using more legs whenever I do heavy rows. I now sub chins or negative chins for back work, almost without exception. Kathryn...if you try some eccentric chins, I don't think it would be long before you are doing real chins. You sound very strong.

Briee (HB....interesting article, and I'm feeling the urge to go to the basement and try these inverted rows...they look incredibly fun in an evil sort of a way

RE: HB!

Question HB.....this 29 year old chick who Soosan isn't speaking to that can do mega chins, when you say she has an ecto frame, do you mean truly skinny/straight, or a "cathe type" of a frame. I've always claimed to be an ecto, but now I'm wondering if I'm more of an ecto meso mix. (a mutt so to speak). I'm about 5'2 and a half and around 110 lbs and can do chin/pullups - they are getting easier all the time(easier being a completely subjective kind of a word that is very LOOSELY used in that sentence).

She has muscle, but nothing like Cathe.

RE: HB!

Chins are my only back work now, also. That's all you need. Two upper body exercises do it all - chins and push-ups. I'm amused when people don't know what to do when they go on vacation - walking lunges, chins, push-ups, and walking or running.

RE: HB!

You could do the negatives along with the inverted rows.

Okay, I'm succumbing to peer pressure!
I'm making pull-ups (tougher than chin-ups!) one of my summer goals. Guess I'll have to clear the space around my pull-up rack and get started!

RE: HB!

I don't know why you couldn't. I thought of that option myself for home when you don't have a squat rack.
