::::: CHEETAHS!!:::: Sunday May 18

Okay.... it's 0700 and I've already been up, showered, let the dogs out, had my breakfast.... where is everyone???:) :) :) :)
You'd think I'd still be on Pacific Time! A little catch up from yesterday..... I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday so far. I crashed pretty early last nite but feeling primed and ready this morning. I think I'll be doing a nice sweaty step workout this morning... maybe ASJ. I think I'll also dust off my bike and take it out for a spin... they have pretty nice bike lanes here.

Cathy- I really like the Clif Bloks myself--- especially the Black Cherry flavor. Way better then those gels- they make me sick!

Gloria- That's a great dream you had the other nite.... my kind of dream!

Dallas- How was the dinner/comedy club nite out?

Sunny- sorry your latest bootcamp vid was a fizzle. Aren't you planning on visiting your sis in NJ this summer? I see a great opportunity for a little Cheetah GTG!

Christine- Can't say that my in-laws are really all that thrilled to have their "DDIL" here.... well, maybe for the free medical advice I guess.... but they are bending over backwards to please me, bless their hearts! sounds like you had a nice Spinerval workout yesterday.... I see you are a TT fan now. How long are you going with this program.... see any results yet?

Dallas ~ it's just one raw spot on my heel that is still a bit tender -- this one's not a blister; the skin was torn off. And the Band Aid fell off during BC yesterday, so it was rubbed some more. Hopefully it'll stay covered during today's run. How was dinner & the comedy show?

Gloria ~ Oh yeah, I remember seeing that site before. Did you make it through your paperload?

Christine ~ after reading more about the Gymboss, I don't think the Garmin is capable of setting up intervals that way. Sold! :7

Sunny ~ as mentioned to Carole, I tried the strawberry flavor and did not care for it at all. I'll stick with the Berry Blast Sharkies I was able to find...No, no JS for me, I've decided. I don't like jumping rope enough to justify the cost. Sorry that workout was a bust.

Shelly ~ I am definitely avoiding the gels, but Sharkies won the taste test for me so far. I can't seem to find a variety in flavors for either of them...So, you're not that tight w/ your outlaws? I'm surprised. You're such a gregarious, positive person -- what's not to like???

Instead of heading out in the morning like I did last Sunday, I'll save my long run of 8 for the early afternoon. Oh, and I'm enjoying a bit of booty and oblique DOMS from yesterday's class.

Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone! :)

"Do you want to feel my spatula?" Run, Fat Boy, Run

Good Morning Peeps. :)

Well, it looks like Miss Sunny may have worked her enabling magic once again on me. I purchased a hard copy of Alywyn's Afterburn program because of her and read through and well...um...yeah, I think I'm gonna switch over. LOL I'm psyched to do NROL now that I've actually started BUT NROL makes more sense to pair up with my 18 miler training. Afterburn looks like a great program and simply would not work with long distance training so I figure I will do Afterburn prior to starting the training and then switch back to NROL in a couple of months when I really need to start focusing on long runs. In addition, I've just started NROL. Having only done 2 of the weight work outs so far makes for a perfect time to switch up! How's that for justifying my indecisiveness!:p :7

Shelly: I usually sleep in on weekends. This means I get up at 7-7:30 instead of 6. LOL Congrats on placing 2nd in your age group. That stinks that you didn't actually get anything for it though. Oh by the way, I think you mentioned that you'd like to do this one day...The good bag from y'day's race had a TNT advertisement in it and it mentioned the Marine Corps Marathon in May 2009. I was talking to DH and that could be a possibility if the point to point one in March can not happen. Would you be game? I am just worried about the longer ride home.

Cathy: Nice to have booty DOMS. After doing Legs and Back for the first time DH was saying it's the only lower body work out he's ever done (oh yeah, cause he's done so many! LOL :p ) that actually gives him butt DOMS! :7 That's our Tony!:9 I am very jealous of your BC classes! I wish they offered something around here! Oh well. I guess I will live vicariously through you and Diana. :) Enjoy your 8 miler this afternoon.

Dallas: So did the kids clean thier rooms and get to go outside y'day? How was dinner and the club? Sounds like a fun evening. Hope you enjoyed it. Yeah, training for a long race is time consuming. I am blessed to have a supportive husband who has no problem when I go for my long runs on the weekends. I also have a good mom who is always willing to play back up babysitter just incase my DH will not be around. I was able to train for my half pretty painlessly. I hope the same holds true for this 18 miler as well as my future full!}(

Sunny: Okay warp speed fat loss can wait. LOL I am now determined to get through atleast PART of Afterburn and NROL before being enabled into something else! LOL Also, lets not forget that there is still the matter of STS to contend with. I DID pre-order on the first day you know!}( So many programs, so little time. It's hard work being addicted to fitness, isn't it!? LOL Did you get my email? Thanks re my race. I am very stoked about it. :)

Christine: Okay girl. No problem re Total Body but if you have no luck, let me know and I'll happily let you borrow it...Well, so long as I'm not in the middle of a rotatin! LOL So what happened...you were thinking of buying the X+ and TJ and now it appears you've backed away from both. Too many temptations so you had to cut some out for now? LOL Trust me, I know how you feel only I'm not that good at resisting!:p

Okay, off to get java #2.

I'll be back later babes!

Good morning cheetahs

Well, I took a rest day yesterday! I wanted to get some stuff done outside before the heat so, I raked, found the repairs needed in my drip system, cleaned out some of the gutters in the back yard...and was soaking wet by the time I finished!!

Shelly...WOW!! Not really a surprise to me that you ran so well...Congrats on 2nd in your AG!!! I have been the one that would come in 4th and the awards only went to the top 3 so many times!!! If only I could feel your cool ocean breeze...brat!! 3 visits from your in-laws??? Thanks for starting the thread...:D

Cathy...not sure about the funeral for my friends Mom. She lived in Texas and my friend went back there 2 weeks ago. I have not asked her if she was going back again? Loved the Flair...:D..I have heard Clif Blocks are good...I hate their bars though...yuk!!!

Dallas..wow 2 days of hilly runs!!! Good job.

Wendy...Way to go!!!! Congrats on the PR...that is so cool you got to see Shelly and her great smile for you at the end!! I wish it would cool off here!! DH is not sick this weekend, as I have not asked him to do anything...:D

Christine...not break in the weather yesterday..I saw 109 here!! I think the city always reports it lower so we never think it got REAL hot...your smiley was perfect for yesterday..http://www.clipartof.com/images/emoticons/thumbnail2/1222_hot_and_sweating_smiley.gif[/img].the pedicure sounds nice...:)..Good job with the Spinerval workout.

Gloria..hope you got all your chores done yesterday. Sounds like a very nice dream!!

Sunny...Posh and I run our 5K on June 8th.

I am doing an 8 mile trail run with my friend. Heard from my sister yesterday. She was sending me a pic of my BIL's toe. He broke it in Hawaii kicking a rock...she is so silly!!...

Have a great day...:)

goooooooooood mornin' all !!

shelly- thanks for getting us started. already a real east-coaster i see:D

cathy- enjoy those booty DOMS. sorry re: the blisters. totally understand re: js.

carole- thanks. you know i'll be cheering the both of you on! enjoy your trail run today.

wendy- lol, i love it! glad i will have an afterburn buddy to burn away the fat with!!! i will check my emails in a bit. it is a great plan to mix with running. what days are you going to do your weights? it is definitely hard to be addicted to something at least it is something that is good for us right? well i canceled my STS order and only kept mesocycle #2. i can put together my own peridization plan or just buy one from my new love alwyn, lol. i kept one mesocycle because i wanted to be in on all the STS excitement that will soon take over catheland...lol

today i had a outside run with my running buddy planned (we haven't ran together in awhile), she canceled on the last minute. good thing i had my ipod with me and went on ahead with my scheduled run. i ran for an hr and then did the stairs for 20 mins. i feel really good. what a perfect way to start the day!!

have a great day to all in cheetahville!!

Hello again y'all:) Well, so much for my plan to do a step workout
... the ocean breeze outside was calling my name...... Shelllllyyyy.......... come out and RUN! I HAD TO!!!;-) ;-) ;-)
I ran 6 miles. Okay, thats 4 of the last 5 days I've been on a run... No run tomorrow!! It's hard to resist here... feels so good! I'll do some stepping later today, probably Seasuns SUS.
DH and I will likely be going to his brother's later also for a family GTG.

Cathy- Already up to 8 miles??? Awesome! I've tried Sharkies also...quite good! Haven't been able to find them locally tho.. have to order on-line.

Wendy- Funny you should mention MCM... I've definitely targeted that one for 09 and would LOVE the company. If you decide on doing the NJ one in March I could likely keep you company on that one and still do MCM in May.

Carole- Thanks for the congrats on my race yesterday. It did feel hard tho.... I was workin for sure and the legs felt it! Hey, you call that a rest day??  Hope you get in a great trail run today. Hey, is it Karen who's in Hawaii?? I can believe the bit about sending you a pic of your BIL's toe!!

SunnyD- You know I'm a certified East Coaster when I start opening up the thread.... and I'm not at work either! Great run today... even if you only had your iPod as company.

Time to go run some errands. Hi to all who follow.

Shelly

Happy Sunday All!

Shelly – Yessum! I’m up and ready to go!! I’m kind of surprised that the In Laws are not totally thrilled to have you there! With your sunny, can-do personality, I’d think they’d adore you! That run sounds incredible. When I’m by the beach, running is easier! Have fun to a family GTG. I’m just start the TT training. You know me – I like to try everything, but I have a tough time sticking with anything for too long. :p I have planned a 2 week rotation. We’ll see how it goes.

Cathy – What I like about the Gym Boss is that it can clip right to your waist and will vibrate so you can have the music blasting and still know when it’s time to change. It’s only $20, too. So it’s so worth it. Have fun on your run! You are amazing – long runs after Boot Camp!!

Wendy – Sunny is sooo good at enabling, isn’t she? I am doing TT, and right now, I’m not even planning on looking at Afterburn because I know myself. Seriously if DH really knew how much I spent on this stuff, he’d not be happy. :p I’m thinking the TJ’s would drive me batty. :+ As for X+, I don’t do well on a heavy weight rotation, but I like Tony and I was interested in his Total Body. I’m not really into the other workouts that come with it. Although Tony’s new series is rather interesting… I may bite on that one. I really think Plyo Legs sounds fascinating.

Carole – You did all that in yesterday’s heat? No wonder you were dripping!! We did have a break. I think it only got up to 95, and today is supposed to be cooler. Hope you cool down too!! Enjoy your trail run! Too funny about your sister – but OUCH! For your BIL! What a way to spend your vacation!

Sunny – Sounds like a nice run! Don’t you love that “On top of the world” feeling?! So, tell me why Afterburn more than TT? What are the differences? You’re like me – you like to mix things up. :p I did download the Kettle TT – and read through it. WOW! I’m thinking of doing it for a week between other TT rotations. I think it would really wake up my body! Have you done it?

Today I might just finish the Spinervals DVD I started yesterday. I get the uphill part this time! :p Although with all the talk about running, that sounds tempting too! DH is going to the Giants game with friends, and DD15’s Youth Advisory Board for the Humane Society is having a awards ceremony, so I’ll be going to that. I might take her to lunch, too. I think that would be fun. Have a great day all!

By the way - today is the Bay to Breakers! I know there's talk about doing this next year for the 98th Annual B2B! (this year is the 97th year). I'm watching the elite women, who start very first, take off. If the lead woman crosses the finish line before the men catch her, she gets a $25,000 bonus, and right now, it's very close. I'm cheering Teriza on!! I wish you guy could see just how freaking big this race is. The walkers at the back of the pack, cross the START line an hour after the race starts. The TV crews pan up and you just see this solid wall of people moving for a long time. It can be a bit tricky to break away from the pack if you don't push towards the front. And the first 10,000 finishers get their names in the paper. I managed that my first run because we were way close to the front, but did not the second run.

Edited to add that the men passed Teriza in the home stretch of the race. Bummer!

Okay, that settles it. I'm starting Afterburn tomorrow! I'll return to NROL4W once I plan to begin training for my 18 mile race!}( }( }(

We went to Target this morning and let Joey pick out his own B'day gift. We had purchased 2 things for him and one was a duplicate of something his aunt had bought him so we returned it and let him pick out his replacement gift. :) We also bought a new memory card for our camera since ours in our Wii and it doesn't look like it will be going anywhere any time too soon!:p I need to take pics for the start of Afterburn anyway!}(

As for my work out, today was an active rest day. I did Awaken the Body in full this morning. Really enjoyed it. It was just enough. :)

After Joey wakes up from his nap this afternoon we will be heading to my mom's house. She bought him a B'day gift (a racetrack type thing) that is too big for our house so she agreed to keep it her house. Well her and her BF just got it put together and we promised Joey we'd take him there ASAP to test it out. We will be dropping him there around 4pm and DH and I will go bowling and then come back and have dinner with them.

DH and I are going bowling because I have to practice. I have decided to bowl on a summer league with DH this year on Monday nights. It's a doubles league so it will be a short night. We can leave Joey with DH's cousin who lives 10 minutes away. I was never a really good bowler but bowled on leagues for about 10 years. I gave it up about 7-8 years ago cause I was getting frustrated that I could not improve my game. I am ready to give it another shot but not ready to commit to a fall league yet so this is perfect. I hope I don't regret it though. LOL

Okay, gotta go. DH needs to use the room...it's Shoulders and Arms work out time for him! }(

BBL for personals!

Fly by post...again. Have to leave for two soccer games. It was a late night, but we had fun. :) I did get P90X - L&B and ARX done this AM. I'm hoping later for a quickie cardio. I do have to get a few groceries. It's going to be a whirlwind kind of week.

I'll post a quick update about the little boy on the Yahoo group because it's private. Thanks for keeping him your prayers.

Hope to BBL!

Sunny...way to go on the run and stairs after your buddy could not make it!!

Shelly...a nice cool run in the ocean breeze really sounds good to me!! I am sure your 5K was hard but I knew you would do well. Yep, Karen and Cathi and their DH's are both in Hawaii. Enjoy the family GTG...

Christine..actually I did all that yesterday in the early AM, so it was not quite that hot yet! I was looking at the Gymboss too, the price is right. I am hoping it might be a bit cooler today but I don't know yet. Have fun with your uphill Spinerval. Interesting about the $25,00 incentive for the B2B girl to win, I think there was something like that in LV last year and I think the girl did win!! Hopefully some of us cheetahs will be there next year for B2B!!!

The trail run was nice. The lake though is so low it looks like about August as we are quite a bit behind on rainfall...I did try out some of the Berry Sharkies about halfway through the run and they are good!!

Hi guys, just butting in to give y'all a quick message. I ran my fastest 5k today and wanted WENDY to know that she was my inspiration!!! :) I thought of your signature line with your times and realized how cool it would be to do the same.

So, today, mine would say 5/18/08 5k 26:32

Thanks! ;)

christine- you know i love my TT workouts. however after a while they seem to mesh together. so for me AB is something different. craig and alwyn believe in the same training concepts. so the workouts are not all that different but it's a nice change for me, the way alwyn puts his programs together. i checked out the may rotation and it looks awesome!! very similiar to alwyn's new WSFL program. haven't tried the KB rotation yet. but i will....lol

wendy- YAY!! so when are you starting?;-) :7 have you played wii's bowling game? fun, fun, fun!!

carol- actually it was good my running buddy couldn't make it. i enjoyed my alone time (i never have any) and was able to listen to my music.

amy- CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Hi Cheetahs!

Christine: It can be frustrating being a teacher. A lot of what we do is behind the scenes. When I waitressed in college full time I did not have to worry about things when I got home. However, my body ached from carrying those heavy trays and I would have "server nightmares" all the time. I would dream that I was way far behind and I couldn't catch up. I do love my job though. When I was in Montana last summer the restaurant I worked at asked me to stay and be a manager. A small part of me considered it for a few minutes, but knew I would not be happy. It was hard to imagine not starting a new school year in the fall. It is a good feeling for me. I get a fresh start every year. That is sweet you will be hanging out with your DD today. I am like you, I'm not so social as DH. I am a bit shy when I first meet people so we balance each other out well.

Shelly: You are one productive lady that early in the morning! :) I have never run by the ocean. How nice for you! It is good to hear that you are enjoying some quality family time right now.

Cathy: I made a small dent in the paperwork. Andy asked me last night if he should put a "block" on the cathe website. LOL! :) I have some writing prompts to score and I just don't feel like doing it. I do not have a choice though, they HAVE to be done for tomorrow. We use 6 plus 1 writing traits and the Lucy Calkins format for writing workshop. Good luck on the 8 miler today! :)

Wendy: That is fabulous you have such a great support system. Those that love you will do just about anything to maky you happy. Marine Corps marathon hey? I was thinking about doing that one if I don't get accepted to NYC. Andy said Washington D.C. is a powerful place to visit.

Carole: I LOL about the weather report remark. Up here I think they lie and say it's going to be WARMER than it really is! :) Have a great run!

Sunny: I feel like a broken record saying this to you, but great workout lady! :)

Dallas: Busy day. I hope you enjoy it! :)

We went to a friends for a while last night to see their new puppy. Oh what a handsome boy he is. He is an English Setter. Their goldens are not so pleased with this new addition to the family though. We came home and had some friends over and they spent the night. We chatted over coffee and they didn't leave until NOON!!! My schedule has been disrupted, but I will survive. I have to figure out a plan here for working out. I will BBL! :)

Happy Sunday!

Ya’ll are a bunch o’ chatty cheetahs already today!

I’m just peekin’ in to say good mornin’ and see what my cheetah friends are up to. Been awake a couple of hours getting the laundry sorted, picking up and coffee and chatting with DH. After I post, I’m going to get in my workout I was supposed to do yesterday…lol….After I ran all my errands and finished my nail appt. DH and I had to opportunity to “hang out” without any kids or their friends here, so since our anniversary is Monday and we had a chance to spend some time together without 40 ppl around I let it be okay to put the workout today (my usual rest day). We had a simple dinner, sipped some wine, and then talked and hung out in our garden….was way fun just chillin’. We’ll REALLY celebrate this September in Maui! (After I run the half of course! lol).

Today I’m gonna try out Itread 12/45 and some 4D’s total body premix. I’m a premix kinda gal! I scored on the Itrain deal and bought 3 and got 3 free! Still not convinced on the expensive rope-less jumprope, but ya know, Sunny’s makin’ more difficult to resist with the knowing she got the dang thing for less at Amazon….lol

Shelly – WOW! Way to go on your inaugural 5K in Joyysseee! Youz guyz are sooo my idols! I’m sooo slooooow these days!...lol I’m sure the usual ppl that place in their categories are thinkin’ “Oh great, who’s this new kid to beat!” I’m so happy you’re adjusting well and loving the running back yonder. I remember running outside while visiting Waynesboro near Charlottesville, VA and it was just so dang beautiful and it seemed I could just keep running for miles and miles. Me thinks the humidity suits me better than this DRY azz hot stuff out west here…

Cathy – LOL re: the chocolate bar comment! I guess that was your 35 weekly bonus points, eh? As for the activity points: On workout days I use a scoop of chocolate endurox and a glass of skim milk for 4 points (same for a smoothie) and if I end up going over the daily amount of points I let it take out of my activity points – I always “earn” more than 4 anyway! Hey, you can probably find the berry sharkies online or I can buy some in Auburn and send them to you, not a problem - Let me know. I would send you some samples of Accelerade from my big containers but me thinks we’d start a bio-hazard USPS scare with the “unknown” substance in a plastic baggy! LOL… I remember now that during my last marathon I did just fine with Accelerade and sharkies. Haven’t actually used the gels since I found sharkies.

Wendy lou!! EXCELLENT job on your 5K! Such a cheetalicious time! I have to say, I always get extra excited about your progress because I keep remembering back to finding you a 5K and how worried you were about doing it. LOL You’ve come a LONG way baby! keep up the great work – Now you have supercalifragalisticexpealidocious Shelly close by to run the 18 miler with; how awesome!

Carole – I hope you got that trail run in before another day of this DRY HOT crap! I tell ya, I need to move to Alaska because I hate this dry heat – only like the tropic humid warm stuff. Too funny about your sis sending the pic of the toe. Poor guy, what a crappy time to break your toe – in Hawaii! This is the sis running the 5K with you? Um, so far I’m still slow to about 11 min miles but me thinks as the weight keeps coming off I can maybe aim for 10:15 to 10:30 for the 5K…we’ll see, I figure I’m at least out there doing it instead of sitting here on a pitty party getting fatter…. I truly am trying. Youz guz really help to inspire too that’s for sure!

Sunny – Yay, good job just going ahead and doing the run instead of bagging it if your friend canceled. Sounds like it probably was a better run anyway with the ipod. Actually, when I meet up with my friend to run, we chat for a few before and after the run, but we use our individual ipods during the run. Yup, I get to meet Carole and her sis on June 8th! She’ll be the very first Cheetah I get to meet in person!

Christine – Yummo on the Silver Oak…almost worth doing bootcamp 2X eh? lol. Have a great time with DD today! She sounds like a real good kid!

AMY! WOW! Excellent job!

Gloria – AWE, I love puppies! But I am partial to Goldens! Uh, I had to chuckle about your DH’s comment re: the tree pic because when I first looked at it, I thought “hmm they must not do all that noisy gardening at that school”…lol…a lot of the schools’ landscape around here are overly manicured but hey, the tree is absolutely stunning….

Hi Dallas! Glad you’re having a good time running with the TNT group! I’ve met some great people/runners during some TNT training runs. We used get so caught up in chatting that the runs would go by faster. Now I use an ipod though…

OK, I guess I should get this novel posted before it ain’t morning PST anymore! Sheesh, it takes me soooooo dang long to do personals! Everytime I “refresh” the thread there’s 20 zillion more posts! LOL

Have a great rest of the day ya’ll!

POSH :7

Dangit! I did not realize they were calling for rain today. I was getting ready to lace up for my long run, and it started to come down. Still raining and a chance of t'storms. Not sure what I want to do here. Attempt the TM (I've never run for more than an hour on it--and even that was pushing it) or try to run tomorrow afternoon? I should be able to get out of work on time and there are no meetings or grading deadlines to throw monkey wrenches...hmm...

Wendy ~ *lol* about DH's response to the X...I think you should do the next cycle of the boot camp with me, and that way you can get ideas for YOUR outdoor boot camp class! :7 So, I'm safe on the jump rope but not on Alwyn. *lol* Cheetahs strike again! ETA: Oops, I meant to mention that I downloaded Warp Speed today. Interesting.

Carole ~ sounds like your "rest" day gave you quite the workout, anyway. I really hope you get some relief from that insane heat! I think BIL needs to invent a better story than that! *lol* Glad you enjoyed your trail run.

Sunny ~ well, I may have resisted you on the JS, but not Alwyn. I checked out the Warp Speed Fat Loss and went for it. Didn't realize it was an e-book, but that's OK. So you think Afterburn *would* work with a high mileage training plan? Great job following your run with the stairs. Tough mami!

Shelly ~ ooh, I envy you that ocean breeze! I see you are not that far from Longport and Ocean City, two of my fave shore towns. Lucky lady!

Christine ~ I placed my Gymboss order this morning. Just doin' my job stimulatin' the economy. :7 Bay to Bay just sounds like an incredibly unique experience. Too bad the guys passed the lead woman. Would've loved to see her score that bonus.

Dallas ~ thanks for the update. What a great way to keep people informed. I may recommend that to my friend and her husband.

Amy ~ you, speedster, you! GREAT job!!!

Gloria ~ I recently purchased a book called Papers, Papers, Papers by Carol Jago that I am looking forward to reading this summer. If I get some tips for lessening the paper load, I will pass them on. Sounds like a fun time w/ your friends.

Posh ~ happy anniversary (a day early)!...I haven't been keeping tabs on points, so that chocolate bar was probably dipping into June's flex points. *lol* I do have the berry blast Sharkies...Target near me carries those, but thank you for the offer! I will keep my eyes peeled for the other flavors.
