:::CHEETAHS::: A need for Speed on Sunday April 6

Good morning all! Never did make it here yesterday but it's a slower more mellow nite tonight:) I was going to take a rest day yesterday between my 12 hrs shifts but I woke up early and feeling restless so I made it a cardio rest day;-) and did 4DS upper body.
Ready for a good run this morning!!:7 After work I'm headed straight for my favorite lakeside trail for a 5-6 mile run. I'm off tonight so I'll only nap for a couple of hours and then hopefully get in some work around the house, packing, cleaning, painting, etc etc!!!
I'll also get in Sharon's ASJ somewhere in there I hope.

Cathy- Got your e-mail..Glad I could be of help to you!! A Disney marathon would be fun! I'm determined to do the Philly marathon this Nov so I need to see how close it would be. Ahhhh so many races, so little time x(

Carole- I'm having a hard time picturing you without that curly hair:eek:  It's like your trademark:p I bet you look darn cute tho!! Any chance we get to see a pic? So you treated yourself to the new weight bench??? I'll have to check it out... Walmart right?
I hope you give HLK another chance... the moves are a tad tricky but it's so fun once you learn it.

Jackie- Joining you in PackMax today;-) :p !!

Christine- That Bay to Breakers race does sound like a ton of fun!
Definitely couldn't swing it this year but maybe 09? I'm not familiar with the CIA Step Jam.... who does it?

Linda- Oh my.... you have an impressive line up of races this year!!
Great job with that 10.5 miler!!!

Kath- awesome time on that 5 miler.... too bad you get thrown off your rhythm with those folks who can't seem to make up their minds what land to run inx( Counting down the hours til your vacay yet?
I switch up my long runs all the time with my crazy work schedule. I'm sure you'll be fine!

Wendy aka the cheetah GH ace!!! Congrats!!!

That's all I have time for now! Have a great one y'all!

Goof morning Cheetah babes!

Okay, this will be my last fly by, I swear!!! I ended up having plans last night with DSO so I couldn't make it back but, if today goes like yesterday (smoothly and efficiently), I should have a moment tonight after work.

I did DM this morning and, I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, it's the first time I've made it through those blasted tricep dips on the ball without having to brace the ball against the couch. Ahhh, it's the little victories in life, right ;)?

Okay, I've got to get moving. *If* I get home early enough and *if* I have a little energy to burn I might go for a 3ish mile run or some kind of kickbox mish mosh...I'll have to play that one by ear. I need to work off last night's dinner  :9.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning, Shelly, and all the cheetah babes to follow…

Shelly :: Disney is Sunday, Jan. 11…enjoy your trail run today and hope you get a lot accomplished with the ongoing packing activities.

Kath :: I don’t usually watch Oprah but caught a glimpse on the news. Was she talking about losing pets?

Linda :: don’t feel bad about blowing off the run with your friend…you had a great run, anyway…sometimes early morning just doesn’t cut it, and I feel that way as a morning person! It’s normal, IMO. Thanks for the info on EKB. Still no shipping notice.

Carole :: Glad you’re lovin’ the new bench. Sounds awesome!

ETA: Wendi :: snuck past me there...glad you had a good day yesterday...great job with the triceps dips!

For any cheetahs who may be interested, the Disney World Marathon is on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009. Here is a link: http://disneyworldsports.disney.go.com/dwws/en_US/marathon/events/detail?name=MarathonRaceDetailPage Registration is $125.

There is a half on Saturday, but registration is closed at this point. I am ready to commit to the mary but would love to have company! Wendy?

Yesterday I put in a 30 min. EXT session. Not too intense but a decent sweat. Still keeping things low-key. Thought as soon as that box went in the mail, I'd just bounce back, but I think that there may be some stress exhaustion at play here. I've been feeling kinda pooped. Anyhow, easing back feels like the right thing. I may give it another week of play-by-ear and then get back into a rotation starting the 15th. Not sure on that yet. If I step on the scale today, I may have to ring the alarm. :) Today I will likely head out for a run and pair it with another Firepower premix.

Good Morning Girls.

Sorry I never made it back here y'day. I ran out of time before we left and by the time we got home and got DS to bed, I logged on and lurked a bit but was too tired to post.

The party was fun. It wasn't the HUGE shabang she usually throws so it was a little less crazy.

Shelly: Have a good run and enjoy your Sharon work out later on. So are you any closer to accepting a job offer out here? How's the house hunt going? Did you like my idea of Cathy and I tying ourselves to you and all running the 18 miler together? :7 So does Cathy's 09 Disney marathon idea sound like a possibility for you? Do you think it's doable for me?

Wendi: Hope you had fun with DSO last night. No worries about not getting here last night. Hopefully we'll see ya tonight but if we don't, it's okay too. We know you'll get here as soon as you can. :) I hope you have enough spunk to get that run or kb w/o in tonight!

Cathy: A January 09 full mary!? OMG. Now I'm scared. LOL I had been considering spring of 09 perhaps to be honest BUT that doesn't mean I won't do it. Sometimes throwing caution into the wind is the best way to go. It's definately something to think about! :) Would you consider the 18 miler with Shelly and I in October in LBI? It's the perfect "warm up" to a mary!;) I am all over it cause if I can do it it will totally boost my confidence for a full marathon.

After much hemming and hawwing I've decided today's work out will be PUB Back and Biceps. I was going to do yoga today-PPY #2- but doing it tmrw at nap time will work out better I think. Plus, after y'day's party eats I want something a little faster moving to burn the fat off! :7

Good morning cheetahs

Shelle..good job with 4DS upper yesterday! I would love to join you for the lakeside run...:)...I will say the first couple of days with staright hair was kinda weird...I have had it permed for at least 20 years! But I am getting used to this style and am liking it. I will post a pic soon...:)...this is the Walmart bench: http://i.walmart.com/i/p/00/04/36/19/21/0004361921486_500X500.jpg
I think Lorie also has it. I like that the rack and bench are separate and this will be a great squat rack, very sturdy...I will give Amy's HLK another try, I just think I am more used to her Kickbox style and find her step and Hi-Lo a bit baffling...

Wendi...good job with DM and those tricky tri dips on the ball. I always enjoy the little victories!

Cathy...one of these years I will have to do that Disney marathon...when i can finally run distance comfortably. I think easing back is the right thing for you. I have been avoiding the scale myself...good job with 30 min on your EXT. Enjoy your run and Firepower premix.

I am going to do some freestyle legs and then a 6-7 mile run. I am going into work for a few hours for my sister and another long time client.

Have a good day...:)

Hey. The pics from my 10 mile race are finally up. This is the first half way decent race pic of me EVER! Here's the link:

http://www.printroom.com/ViewGaller...igerpawimages&gallery_id=1021885&image_id=102

My finish time never changed so I guess they used the gun start time and the chip at the finish. Oh well. I was hoping since they were using chip-timing that they'd use it at the start too. PHOOEY! So my time was 1:39:41. It's not as if I'm not THRILLED with it though!:7

Hi Carole! Glad you love your new weight bench. I wish I had room for something like that but the only concievable place I could fit it would be in our spare bedroom but with DS's room being up there it just makes no sense. Trust me I've thought about moving my w/o space up there since it's bigger but it just doesn't make any sense. Oh well!:-(

Cathy: It's funny cause my sister has sent me links to the January Disney races for 2 years now including the 09 stuff! I just wrote her back over the last couple of weeks and told her Jan 09 is too soon. Perhaps I'll be eating those words!? }( :7 :)

Hi Cheetahs

We are finally back home. DS's hockey national tournament was a once in a lifetime experience. He personally did very well and gave his best effort, but his team was unable to advance.

So I am not at all current on Cheetah posts, but will go forward from here. I see there is interest in the Disney Marathon. I realize that I will most likely not do a marathon anytime. I enjoy my runs up to 10 miles or so, but I (at least for now) am not in a frame of mind to dedicate to a marathon training schedule. I will enthusiastically cheer on all Cheetah marathoners!

Today begins NROL . I am starting on Sunday this week, because DD and I have college visits planned for Thursday through Saturday. We are headed to NYU first then a couple of schools in Boston. I hope to get in one NROL workout at oldest DD's gym in NY and a HIIT cardio at the hotel in Boston.

Carole- nice weight bench! I thought your hair was naturally curly! I would love to see a picture of your new do! I still haven't posted my new wavy style. How is freestyle working out for you?

Wendi- I find those triceps dips on the ball harder with the ball in the riser than on the floor. But they are always hard to finish. Good job on getting them done!

Sunny- So how was week one of NROL?

Hi Shelly and Wendy and Lorrie and Linda and Posh and Kath and Kristi and any friends I did not mention :)

Good morning ladies,

today will be a stretch day. i am thinking stretchX (30 mins).

carole- nice bench!! IA new pics of the new do please...:)

cathy- i know i wouldn't be able to make disney on 1/11. school will be in session for my oldest. honestly i am not interested in running a full mary. a HM is enough for me.

wendy- you are doing awesome with GH!! ugh, sucks re: joey's meltdown. my oldest had quite a few of those when he was 2-3 years old. i am bracing myself for ds#2. they really thrown you for a looop.

wendi- hope you and dso had a good time last night. great job with DM!!

kath- you love those salads huh,:7 when you come thru nc wave to me!

shelly- thanks for getting us started. any more news re: your move?

judy- welcome back!! nrolw is going quite well. i am loving the workouts so far. short and sweet. however i hear as we progress to the next stages the workouts become longer.

wendy- i say go for the mary in jan. if i know you, you can and will do it!!

Cathy...thanks re my bench...:)...I would love to do Disney in 09, but I will have to see how the injuries and mileage go.

Wendy...nice pic....you do look like a cool cheetah...:)...I do have the bench in my spare room but it took me quite awhile to get things cleaned up, as I could not see much of the carpet!!

Sunny..thanks re my bench. Hopefully a hair pic soon...:)..Enjoy Xstretch.

Judy...Welcome back. Thanks re my bench. Glad to hear DS played well but sorry the team could not advance. I have had my hair permed for so long, most people do think it was naturally curly. I have been enjoying freestyle.

OUCHEES! I just finished my work out. I kept up with Cathe on the back work. The biceps however are a different story. I only managed pyramid up and couldn't even finish the last set of traditional curls and I went waaay lighter then Cathe did! That part always makes me feel like such a whimp!x( After that I did 6 minute abs to allow the u/b to thaw out a bit and then I added on 10 reverse grip chin ups and 10 wide grip pull ups. I'm nice and fried. }(

Gotta grab a shower now as I we are heading out to Kohl's in a bit!

BBL!:)

Hello ladies.

I have a few questions for you.

I just started running yesterday. Well more like walking then running a bit. Anyways, I was wondering, when you guys started running, did you notice the next day that your hips were sore? Also, what do you do to prevent shin splints? My shins are a little sore today too. A couple more question. I was going to walk/run again today, but I was wondering if I should do some other type of cardio or just go ahead and run? How often do you do a sclupting work out for your lower body?

Hi Jennie and welcome to our check in. I hope you consider sticking around!:)

My hips will get sore but it's much more noticable with a long run. They will start to hurt DURING the run if it's long enough. Otherwise, yes, I will definately get DOMS in my hips as a result of running depending upon how hard I worked.

I've never had an issue with shin splints or sore shins so I can't really help you there.

As far as running 2 days in a row...that's a personal thing. I will run 2 days in a row on occasion if they are short runs but for the most part I try to avoid back to back runs. My body prefers the break in between. If your body can handle then go for it! The only true way to know is to try it.

I personally work my lower body 1-2 times per week. I'll even work it 3 times if I decide to do 3 full body work outs in one week's time. The only time I will cut back or adjust my lower body work outs is the week before a race so that I am racing on "fresh" legs. In fact one of my fave things to do is do a tough lower body work out in the morning and then go for a run that same day! }(

HTH a bit!

hi jennie!

as far as sore hips i only get that when i run for a long distance. for me that's 8-10 miles. i usually come home and take a warm bath with epson salt. that helps alot. when i first started running outside i got shin splints. i went to fleet feet and got fitted for the correct running shoes for me and never had problems with my shins. HTH!!

i work lower body 2-3 x's a week.

please do consider joining us!

Hello again!

Just finished up my lesson plans and am about to move into some grading. Change o’ plans for my workout. Didn’t realize it was wet and nasty out there today. Bummer. Guess that means I will hop on the ol’ EXT or maybe revisit 4DS BC instead.

Wendy :: lookin’ strong in that pic. Did you order it?

Judy :: glad to hear DS turned out a strong performance in the tourney.

Sunny :: I understand. My ambition is to run one and be done. Have just wanted to conquer the distance.

Carole :: I’ll keep my fingers crossed. :)

Jennie :: hi & welcome! It is normal to have some aches when you just start running. Shin splits are common for new runners. You have to be careful not to do too much too soon and let your body adapt to the stresses of running. A run/walk program is a good bet. Here’s a link to a good article & training plan for beginners: http://www.runnersworld.com/article/printer/1,7124,s6-380-381-386-678-0,00.html You’ll find a wealth of information on the Runner’s World site ~ it’s well worth spending some time there.

Thank you so much ladies for your advice.

I was going to go running today, but because I don't want to push myself to hard to fast I'm going to do some other type of cardio.

Thanks again for your time in answering my questions.

JennieR...welcome! My hips never bothered me in my beginning days of running. For shinsplints try not to slap down your toes hard going downhill as sometimes that can be a cause...Right now I work my lower body about 5 days a week as I m doing a freestyle (lighter weights and higher reps) rotation. I think another form of cardio today might be good...:)

Cathy...sorry about the wet & nasty weather outside. Thanks for keeping the fingers crossed....:)...running your 1st marathon with you would be an honor...

I ran 7 miles but had a touch of hip pain the last 2. I am sure it is ITB related and will roll it out on the foam roller. Luckily my hamstring was not very sore...:)
