Hi there everybody! I missed checking in last week because I was on a little weekend getaway to Santa Fe with my boyfriend. It was the weekend inbetween two work weeks there for him, so I joined him on the company's bill...cheaper=better!

Hope everyone had a great week. Mine was still low energy. I was hoping someone would share some of their energy with me but no one has spoken up yet!!! Oh well, I guess I will just have to invent some energy! I know....I will borrow some from my 2-year-old, he has PLENTY to spare. Okay, enough with the silliness. Here is my week:
MONDAY: PS-BBA

TUESDAY: Powermax

WEDNESDAY: PS-CST

THURSDAY: Stepjam, only about 30 minutes

FRIDAY: Unplanned rest

SATURDAY: Hi/Lo Heaven (1st section)

I think part of my problem is I'm getting a little bored with my rotation. I guess it may be time to change even though I had planned on doing it until the end of February.

I had not done Powermax in a while and boy was it fun. I was totally pooped after that one.

I have got to get back to my stretching. When I am low on time (which has definitely been the case this week) my stretching is what gets cut out.

Here's to a better week next week.

Okay your turn!!!!!!

Kelly

Thanks, Kelly. I KNEW that was going to happen! I couldn't believe no one had started the check in yet--and what are the chances that two people do it at the same time!!! What a small world we live in. Thanks for just joining mine :)

Working my way back

I've been continuing to work my way back slowly after my virus last week. All in all, it was a really good week:

Monday: 50 minutes of treadmill intervals

Tuesday: Tae Bo Live Basic 4 ( with my daughter Sylvia :) ), PS BBA. I did the 1st half of the abs and all of the lower back work on my balance ball. It added even more challenge to an already challenging ab workout. :)

Wednesday: Tae Bo Live Basic 4 ( with my daughter Jenny :) ) followed by Tae Bo Live Advanced 1 ( with Sylvia, who marched a lot, but loved working out with Mom -- It was mutual! :) )

Thursday: CIA 9704 step and cooldown, PS CST

Friday: REST

Saturday: 60 minutes on the treadmill, 5 minute cycles varying speed and incline

Sunday: The plan is a total body weights video, probably Cathe since I plan to do the Firm Upper and Lower Body Splits next week.

Have a great week!!

Erin

Not much to report exercise-wise this week, but I'm checking in so I keep my check in and exercise habits going! ;-)

Had surgery for a rectal abcess on Monday (gotta love Crohn's disease) which was supposed to be outpatient, but turned into a two-day hospital stay after the anesthesiologist mistook me for a horse. Once I got off the IV pain meds and stopped vomiting, I did several laps around the floor. I was tempted to sprint past the nurses station (with pole) to see what they would do }> , but decided the bouncing would hurt. I kept wanting to shout, "I'm not sick! Quit bossing me around! I did a Cathe video yesterday! :-jumpy Watch me run! Ow! Ouch! OK, think I'll go lie down now ... :-tired " My surgeon thinks I'm crazy because after every surgery I'm so concerned about when I can do my barbell curls again.

I'm going for walks each day. Decided to spend my down time reading "8 Weeks to Optimum Health" and made a little chart for the first two weeks. Also putting my couch time to good use previewing fitness videos.

Think I'll do MIS upper body with 3-5# tomorrow. :D Wouldn't want to lose any good habits over a little butt surgery.

:) Gretchen

My week

LAST EDITED ON Feb-18-01 AT 05:38AM (Est)[p]Just came off the most complete CTX rotation I've ever done with 5-1/2 tapes. I did all but All Step all the way through, and did a run/walk for cardio and the weight part of All Step to throw in a different crosstraining workout.

Sunday: Circuit Max with weight circuits just for legs
Monday: Step & Intervals all the way through
Tue: Meaner Legs with 1/2 PS Legs (From the inner thigh work).
Wed: 10-10-10, complete
Thur: Kickbox - complete
Fri: Rest day
Sat: Run/walk and shoulders and abs from All Step
Today I will do Power Circuit to complete the CTX week.

No one should under estimate these tapes! The cardio is short, but very intense. GREAT for someone without a lot of time to work out!!!!!!!

No baking until I move except for bread.

I ordered my Great Mats for my basement workout area on Monday, and they came on Wednesday!:D

Now I need a treadmill or an eliptical machine.

My week would have been alot better if I hadn't had the darn root canal finally completed...at the beginning of the week, I was basically living on Tylenol w/Codeine. But it's FINALLY starting to feel better....

Wendy: You do MIS Biceps and THEN Bodymax Biceps right after??? That sounds TOUGH!!!

Kelly: Funny, I did Powermax this week too! I forgot how much I loved it!

Gretchen: Hope you're feeling better...My mom had Crohn's Disease years ago and somehow beat it. She's really into vitamins and herbs, so if you'd like I could check with her as to what she used to take.

Honeybunch: Time to go get that treadmill!!!

Enough silliness...

Monday: Yoga for Dummies (Debbie: Went and bought this on your recommendation from last week's check-in. So glad I did...I'm definitely a beginner at Yoga and this really helped clarify some of the questions I had previously while doing the stretches)

Tuesday: Todd Gheisar Workout III

Wednesday: Nothing. Went to dentist late yesterday to complete root canal, still in pain.

Thursday: MIS Chest, CTX Shoulders, CTX Triceps, Abs

Friday: CTX Power Circuit Whole thing, Rodney Yee Yoga for Athletes

Saturday: Power Max

Sunday: Having family over so my workout is going to be cleaning the house before they get here!

Have a good week everyone!

Terri

root canal

Hi, Terri. I had noticed an earlier post in which you mentioned your root canal, and I meant to jump in then, but forgot. I had a root canal 6 months ago (with no dental insurance, mind you, and I'm still paying for it!!). I noticed you wrote that you went to the DENTIST to have it done. I know that may just be easier than typing endodontist, or it may be because you really did just have your dentist do the root canal. The reason I'm wondering is that you've talked about such pain, and I've heard so many horror stories about root canals from people who have had them. I was scared silly to have mine, and was in terrible pain before the procedure. However, the actual procedure itself was so painless I was amazed. Did you go to an endodontist? Did you get anti-biotics to use several days before the rootcanal? I hope this doesn't seem nosey, let alone advice given too late, I just want you to be aware of an option for the future.
PS, yes, I did MIS and then Bodymax body parts combined this week. It was tough, but not as hard as I thought it would be. You should try it! :)
Hope you have fun with your family today!
Wendy

getting my "groove" back!

After a rather slumpy 3 months of workouts, I think I'm getting my "groove" back...but believe me, it's not a funky, hip-hop groove thing...you should really see me try latin groove and I done the MTV videos, now that's a laugh!!!
Wendyloo-wouldn't it be nice if MIS and BodyMax were on DVD? That looks like a fun rotation though, add it to my list :D
Kelly-ya know, I believe that most 2 year olds have plenty to spare...of course most 2 y/o kids that I know, when they crash they CRASH!!!
Erin-how old are your daughters? That's awesome that they're into fitness too ;-)
Terri-"PowerCleaning" the newest workout craze (did that Friday night-man I know how to have a good time huh?-I used muscles I didn't know I had!)
Gretchen-Ouch :-tired !!! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
HB-happy moving! Thanks for giving our bellies a rest, I still think that you and Cathe are in cahoots...you with the awesome recipes and Cathe with the tools to work them off!
My week was a little better! Was so excited, I finally ordered another step so I can make a mini step topper (thanks for the instructions Erin!) Fitnesszone.com had a $10 off coupon so it was $65.50 (shipping included), I couldn't believe it, ordered Tues. here on Fri!!!
Sun & mon-whoa super cramps!
Tues-CircuitMax
Wed-9803 Greg's hilo
Thurs-Franny B's Cardio parties step
Fri-precision yoga section2 and "The PowerClean" workout
Sat-started off with Breakthru Cardio Dance and the core conditioning followed by the Tough Tape...then later that day I was in my basement eyeing the still intact 2 full size steps and thought remembered that 9803 had a 2 step workout at the end and I did it!!! It was a lot of fun, excellent cueing! The warmup was REALLY slow but the aerobic section was a lot of fun, didn't stick around for the abs though, my belly was already screaming!!!
Today-millenium stretch and gonna at least start my mini step!
have a great week!
:-jumpy :-jumpy julie :-jumpy :-jumpy

cia videos

Hi, Julie,
I noticede that you did a couple of CIA videos this week, and I was wondering if you have a lot of them. I saw in VF that G&R video was having a sale, so I went over and ordered Two Jammin' Wrokouts with Gay Gasper, and Hi-Lo Step and Sculpt--I think they are 2K01 and 9802 (???). Do you have either of those? If so , what do you think of them? I did look at the reviews, and they were mixed, but I was looking for floor stuff that could be adapted to lower impact (to save my knees :) ).
Thanks, Julie (and anyone else)
Wendy
PS I hope everything of Cathe's will eventually be on DVD--can you imagine???!!!!

Hi everyone...good weeks (or good comebacks) all around :).

Here's my week:

Sunday - IMax; PS CST and PS BBA
Monday - TaeBo Advanced Live #11; Living Arts Yoga for Athletes
Tuesday - A CTX combo: w/u from SNI; cardios from both SNI and Power Circuit; strength work from each (chest and back); planks, abs, and stretch from Power Circuit
Wednesday - CTX Kickbox (entirety, as is)
Thursday - 10-10-10 (as is) in AM; Firm Standing Legs in PM. Standing Legs is a new tape for me and it was TOUGH :-tired...I had sweat running down my forearms as I held my barbell during some of the squats...Yikes!!
Friday - All Step (as is)
Saturday - MIC; planks and abs from Power Circuit again (Even though it's still some of the toughest work for me, I think planks might be getting just a teensy bit easier...Yeah :D!!)

As you can see, all that yoga some of you guys are doing is definitely rubbing off. I'm not sure if I really like it too much yet but I know I need the flexibility work. I'm going to try to do one yoga tape per week at this point and see what happens.

Have great weeks everyone,
Lisa :)

Hi everyone!

Wendyloo - hope you enjoy your hike! I love being outdoors this time of the year if the weather is ok. By the way, my dentist does excellent root canals, but I think if they are too complicated he sends patients to a specialist.

Terri - you poor thing - hope your mouth feels completely better soon.

Gretchen - Too bad about the anesthesiologist - that's incredible. Glad you are doing better. I am like you about harassing the doctors about my workouts. They all think I'm nuts.

Erin - I love working out with my kids! My boys love Tae Bo and Gilad. And I love running while they ride bikes. I hope they stay active and want me around when they get older.

Kelly - I saw your post at the weight-loss check-in. You are doing SO well. I am so impressed with your commitment.

My week was much better. My tailbone feels like it is almost all healed and I was able to do kickboxing and hi/lo this week. Today I ran for the first time. It feels so good to do cardio with impact again. I have been able to do some step - no Cathe yet - can't tolerate the turns. I also haven't been able to slide, but I think I will soon be back to normal for cardio. I'm not going to post my daily workouts - I was so excited to do cardio again that I went a little overboard. I think I did the cardio portion in almost every video I own!! :-jumpy Now I just have to be patient until I can do strength again.

Hope everyone has a great week!!

RE: root canal

Wendy: No problem with all the questions, I appreciate your interest.

Actually, I've had at least 6-7 root canals in my life thus far...and I've noticed that some are really easy, painfree, feels like nothing. Others have been really painful and taken a LONG time to heal.

I agree though...I had one of the root canals done by an endodontist and found that he had done a wonderful painfree job. It just seemed this time that once the dentist had me in the chair telling me I needed a root canal that it wasn't like he gave me a CHOICE or anything...something like "do you want ME to do the rootcanal or would you prefer going to a specialist?". He just went ahead and started doing it. Maybe next time I'll open my mouth and insist on it instead...

On another note, I'm definitely going to try burning out my biceps and triceps with MIS and BMax the way you have done...I'll let you know how it goes!

cia videos

Hi Wendy!!! I really liked Gay's workout, but I use it for a lighter day. The hilo was kinda repetitive, a lot of TIFTing...but I REALLY enjoyed the step and strike workout, I could boost the intensity pretty easily, but it also could be lower intensity and impact. One of the background exercisers is 6 mos pregnant. Gay has a fun personality. I can't wait for her new one, Greg T. of CIA had asked her to up her intensity and not as much TIFTing and sounds like that's what she did. 9802-is that Faith Scarizini's (sp?) video? If it is, I had it, never really got into the workouts, I just didn't mesh well with her cueing style so I traded it. Others have really liked it. My personal CIA faves are anything my Christi Taylor, Mindy Mylrea, and Franny Bennedetto (I'm sure I murdered her name ;-) ) The cardio options, 2K08 I believe, by Linda McHugh was IMO really fun and easily adaptable to high or low impact or intensity with crescendos where it becomes alittle more intense, but you can continue with a modification. I've used it for both light days and days that I want to go all out.
there's a few of my faves!!! Have fun!
julie :D

RE: Wow! Some interesting posts and great weeks!

Hi everyone. I do not have a lot of time to individualizw my responses but everyone had some interesting weeks though. Mine was a real low-key one. The kids had a full week of school.Yeah! No snow days. Hopefully the winter is just about over; the days are certainly longer.

In one week my husband and I (kids stay home) are heading to Scottsdale, AZ for a week of sun, golf, and relaxation. We can hardly wait, it has been a cold, snowy and icy winter hear in Nebraska.

Here's my week, I have noticed a little change in my leg definition but it sure takes time. I think I have nibbled on too many sweets lately, so more clean eating would probably show results quicker. Oh well, here's my week:

Monday - Interval Max with planks and abs from power circuit
Tues. - PS Chest/Shoulders plus cardio and abs from All Step
Wed. - Cathe's Treadmill workout
Thur. - PS Back/Biceps plus cardio and abs from CTX Kickbox
Fri. - PS Legs and Abs
Sat. - Rest
Sun. - MIC and abs from CTX All Step

Hope everyone has a great week!

Lynn W

surprised you're walking!

What a week! Maybe it's a good thing you're on your feet since it doesn't seem like sitting would be very comfortable. I realize that you're a veteran at the rehab, but please take care of yourself.

Hi everyone!

Along with a lot of packing & culling:

Mon: Wedding tape conditioning w/ sis
Tues: Spinning (too rainy to ride)
Wed: Spinning; Wedding tape conditioning w/ sis
Thurs: Pilates mat class
Fri: nada (more battles w/ builder. Took dogs for a 2 hr walk in the fields. Thought about p.m. spinning but decided to save legs)
Sat: Cycle 76 miles w/ DH (did 2 loops of our hilly ride. Felt great the 1st loop, felt every incline on the 2nd. Pace was good for us - <5 hrs w/ 2 stops).
Sun: Millenium Stretch? (Should spend some time w/ Scott Cole but I've been packing all day. All I have to do is start it & I'm fine but...)

My husband & I are doing a hilly century (100 mile bike ride) in a few weeks. Weather & our much delayed move sabatoged our cycling this week. We got in our long ride but that was it.

Tried a new instructor this week because of the rain x(. Made me wish I had a Spinerval tape. Wed, back to my regular instructor :D. Nothing beats a live class w/ a great instructor. But then a great instructor on video beats 95% of the instructors out there IMO!

My sister is getting results with Cathe's Wedding Tape. We've been doing the muscle conditioning together twice each week. She's doing the Voight tape w/ Elle (Personal Best) once on her own, along w/ some walking & treadmill work. I think her favorite jeans are going to Goodwill real soon ;-) !

Have a great week everyone!
Debra
