Cathe- role model for you?

Hi Cathe,

I was wondering if there was a current or past fitness instructor that you really admire or consider a role model or mentor for your own fitness or fitness instruction.

Thanks,

Arwen

Cathe is a role model for me. I want to become a fitness instructor and I look up to her. I would like to be as good as she is, she is just amazing!

Aw that is so sweet of you Ivy :) Good luck with your future fitness career and feel free to ask any questions along the way.

What a fun question Arwen. When I was breaking into the industry there were a few instructors that had done the circuit I was looking to go into and I spoke to them and their business partner spouses for some input. At that time it was Candice Copeland Brooks and Douglas Brooks, Lynne and Victor Brick, and Karen Voights husband at that time (Henry Seigel). The industry has changed a lot since these days but I always am grateful for having those conversations with them when I was back in my 20's. They jump started my hopes and fueled my inspiration back then. While my fitness journey has changed directions since those days of long ago, it still remains as focused as ever.

Lynn Brick - didn't she have a w/o show on t.v.? That name sounds so familiar.

Of course I know Karen Voight. I've never seen anything about her personal life and didn't even know if she was married (sounds like not anymore:().

Who is Candice Copeland? I'm Canadian so maybe her w/o's didn't make up here.

Candice Copeland and Douglas Brooks are heading up the Bosu trainer workshops and DVDs. If you go to ebay and type in BOSU, some of their DVDs appear.

I used to have a couple of step workouts by Lynne Brick back in the early 90's. She was a registered nurse, I think.

Candice Copeland(-Brooks) and Douglas Brooks are probably more well known these days in fitness circles as trainers of trainers. He's written some excellent books on fitness and exercise technique (always keeping safety in mind) and she made some excellent step workouts back in the early-to-mid 90's, as well as some Bosu workouts.

Thank you so much for responding, Cathe. I really appreciate the time you take on the forums - makes us feel that you are part of our fitness journey and that we have a friend on the way. I love your strength workouts and have every single one of them. I am looking forward to my STS arriving soon, but am also a little scared of it, the way you are when you are not sure you can handle a particular challenge - and that's just how it should be. If I ain't scared, it's too easy!
