Cardio Coach - Should I get it??

I'm getting my new treadmill this weekend and was wondering where I should begin if I were to download some cardio coach stuff? I am not a big runner - when I go outside I usually walk/run. I'm in relatively good shape cardiovascularly - on a scale of 1-10 (10 being in the BEST shape), I'm probably a 4-5, maybe a 6.... so all you folks out there with CC experience - could you give me a hint or two? What are the top THREE workouts I should download? Don't want to start with anything TOO crazy hard - just want to START! Thanks all!

I would say for beginners(new to CC) volume 1, 2 and 5.

I have all of the CC volumes including pump. They are ALL worth having.

I like 1 and 2 because you can combine them for a longer workout if you need to. They are both under 40 minutes, which makes them a perfect cardio session following weights.

Oh yes, get them! You'll never get a better workout on your treadmill ;) . I don't use a treadmill, but I started out with Volume 1 on my elliptical. I loved it so much that I bought the rest of them in one lump about 2 weeks later. Ultimately, it doesn't really matter which one you start with because you use perceived exertion to gauge your effort, but starting from V1 and working your way up seems logical. Bear in mind that the workouts are completely customizable -- you can use them as produced, skip tracks, add tracks -- whatever you want to do to create the workout you want.

The Quick Start Guide is a handy tool that will familiarize you with the levels and zones Sean uses in his workouts. I've been doing the workouts for 2 years now and I still refer to it from time to time. Here's a link: http://www.cardiocoach.com/about.php

HTH :D

I have them all, and I'm in agreement with the advice you've been given -- you can't go wrong with any of them, and you can work as hard, or as easy, as you want with all of them, based on your rate of perceived exertion. You can even do a light jog or just walk if you'd prefer not to run some days.

Vol. 5 is my personal favorite because I love the routine and the final song at the end (I often play it just to enjoy the music, even when I'm not working out!). I don't do Vo. 6 as much; that's the one with Candace Grasso, which is nice--but she's just not Coach Sean!!

Ummmmmm...YES, you should get them!

You've gotten some great advice so far. I started out with 1, 2 & 3 and even though I now own them all, I still find myself going back to the earlier one. Just because the intervals are shorter, doesn't necessarily mean they are easier.

Have fun!!

I just wanted to add that you will LOVE them Mary! (Great name btw :)) Anyone can use them and do a few challenges or all! In all seriousness, Coach Sean is really a genius for coming up with Cardio Coach.

Have fun and let us know what you think!!!!

I use them on my bike. Have had #6 for a long time but have never done it. I did it last night (Sean's version) and loved it! It was not grueling or too long. Don't know why I waited so long. Now I need to do Push Play and #7. I really find them easier to do than an Imax workout, probably because there is no impact on the bike.

Enjoy! Get them all as most people end up doing that anyway.

Get them all. You'll use each and every one and never regret it. But if you haven't gotten your treadmill yet may I suggest you get one that has an incline higher than 10%. I still haven't gotten to the point where I use 10% that often with my Cardio Coach workouts but I like to walk fast on my treadmill at a real high incline as my sole lower body resistance work. 10% is as high as mine goes and it's not nearly high enough. It will be a very long time before I can get another treadmill. If I could, though, I'd get the highest incline on the market.

Alas, the incline I got only goes to 10% incline:(. I did a sort of "trade" with someone on craigslist who answered my ad selling my treadclimber. Long story - but I live in a townhouse style condo and my neighbor was complaining about the noise of the treadclimber at 5:30 a.m. (in treadclimber mode it is a bit "clunky" and my workouts were limited to only using treadclimber mode on weekends at 7:30 a.m, which really defeats the purpose) so I was using it in treadmill mode if I used it during the week, which limited me as it only goes to 4 mph with no option for higher incline and you can't really run on it). So..... she answered the ad, mentioned in passing that she was selling her treadmill and we struck a deal. I'll upgrade at some future date, but for now it is good for me I hope.
