I'm off to buy a nano today and, assuming I eventually wind up buying most of the CCs, will a 2GB nano suffice, or would I be better off with a 4GB? I also have a few other gym workouts I'm going to want to store on the nano. The website doesn't say how many GBs each workout is, unfortunately. If the 2 GB is going to be more than enough, than I don't want to pay extra, but if it's going to be close, I'd rather pay the extra.

Thanks!!

I have no clue what to tell you. this kind of stuff is way out of my league. I bought the 8GB Nano and I'm sure it's way more than I'll ever need.

Nancy - Mine is a 2 GB and I have plenty space for all of my CC's plus some other music. I kind of wish I had gotten a 4 GB just to have the space, but my 2 does work well. If it's not that big of a price difference, I would just go for the 4. At the time I bought mine though, it was quite a price hike so I stuck with 2.

I have the 4GB (or do I? *runs off to check*) Yes, I have the 4GB and it's starting to get full. I have a LOT of stuff on mine, though - ALL the CCs, some iTrains, a TON of music, some podcasts... I really need to go through and purge some things from it. :) For just working out, a 2GB would be fine. I use mine for music/entertainment in my car, so I need more space for all my "crap". ;)

I would go as big as you can. You'll end up wanting more space once you get it and figure out all the fun stuff you can put on it. 4 at the very least. Mine's 2 and I wish it was bigger.

Thanks for being so obedient Robin. ;)

Thanks guys! I think you're right. I'm going to go with the 4 GB. It's about $40 more or so. Considering how much I lost in the stock market this week, another $40 is nothin'. ;)

Thanks so much for all the fast responses!! Michele, 8 GB??? I can't imagine needing that. I mean, the nano screen is just too small to be useful for video and such. I really wanted the iriver clix, which has a gorgeous screen, but it is so much more difficult to use the itunes library with anything that isn't an ipod, I gave up the idea. Plus the iriver had all kinds of bells and whistles I didn't need and didn't want to pay for.

Thanks again!!:7 :7

ETA: Shelley, if I were you today, I would buy the 8 GB only because I know what a huge music fan you are. I, on the other hand, just listen to the same old songs over and over again, so I doubt I need the 8GB.

Facts:
The 2 GB is $145
The 4 GB is $195
The 8 GB is $240

So, to go from the 2 to the 4 is $50 and from the 4 to the 8 is $40. Hmmmmm. The 8GB is a better deal.

I have a 4 but space is never really an issue. I don't keep all of my CC or iTrains on it all the time anyway. It's very easy to load what you want into your library and then just check and uncheck as you need/don't need stuff. If you don't think you will upgrade for a long time then getting the largest is probably a good idea. If you're someone who will get a new one whenever the next generation comes out, I would say save your money, get a smaller one and then just check/uncheck as needed. :)

Nancy,

I am the untechnical CC fan, I suppose. I just download them and copy to a cd.

I looked into ipods for possible Cathe workouts in the future. Those with video were around $300 and up. I only looked at Amazon. You might want to check into those while you are shopping.

Hi Nancy,

Given that Cathe is also coming out with MP3 workouts, I'd go for the 8GB Nano. That's what I bought. Once you start using it regularly for workouts, you just end up wanting more (or at least I do/did). :)

I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I still use a cassette Walkman for goodness sakes!!! I am reaaalllllyyyyyy behind the times! By the time I ever get an Ipod there will be some new technology and Ipods will be long gone!!!

Thanks to all the enablers! I got a groovy-cool green 4GB 2d generation nano with Sennheiser earphones in the same color green (insert cool smiley face here). Also got a "tough skin" clear rubber case so the groovy green could show through.

I now need to go figure out how to get my music onto the thing. That's my next fun project!!

Thanks again for all the advice!
