Can't seem to stick with a rotation..

Is it necessary to stick with a rotation to get the results I am looking for? I finished 5 days of the advanced rotation of SS and I am already bored out of my mind. I love the workouts..but I would like to encorporate Cathe ino the mix. Four weeks of SS is just too much for me..I want to look forward to exercise not dread it. So I guess what I am asking is..will I see results if I mix Cathe and SS together? I would think that the results would be greater considering Cathe is more intense and offers interval training. Okay..now I am starting to ramble:) I would love to hear what some of your fitness routines look like:)

I don't use rotations, I can't. I never stick to them. Even if I write them out and design them, I just end up doing something else anyway. I wake up in the morning and decide what sort of day it's going to be. Was it cardio yesterday? Right then it's weights today. Which one? Hmmm, PLB, LL or PS legs? Whatever I have the motivation to do. Whatever motivates you to keep going and be active is way more important than sticking to arotation even if it kills you, which it will, with boredom and the inevitable demotivation and falling off the bandwagon.

If you are screaming with the dullness of the SS, whatever that is, then stop doing it an do the Cathe's you love! There's no set recipe for results except: consistency. If you are up and down all over the place because boredome makes you a stop/start exerciser, then you will not see "results". You need to train each body part twice per week, and do 3-4 cardio routines, working along the crosstrain principle and varying the intensity of the cardio sesssions. That's like a general baseline that will get you "results." How you choose to cover those bases is up to you.

It doesn't really matter, for your improved health and to ward off serious diseases as you age, what you do or when as long as you keep moving! So, ditch the boredom routine and get jumping with what you fancy!

Thank you..your advice makes much more sense than doing something that I don't look forward to. I love the feeling right after I complete a workout and with this rotation I haven't had that feeling. I am going to mix them up with my Cathe and maybe add a couple higher weighted workouts to my week.

THANKS AGAIN:)

Seabee, I have to agree with Clare. I don't do rotations either because I know I would be too bored. I usually do about 40 min. intense cardio followed by 20-30 min. weight work. I alternate upper and lower body each day. Thurs.& Sat. are rest days. So Fri. I do a total body weight workout like ME or Firm. This has worked fine for me. I have really toned my body and have gained strength through the years. Personally, I think you get great results combining weights with cardio. You don't need to work out more than an hour a day either. So pick some vids you like and have fun. Isn't that what is really important in getting a good workout, having some fun? It sure motivates me.:)

Ut oh! Seabeeswife - did you see results after using Slim Series?? After reading some other threads I ordered SS, but haven't gotten it yet. I think on the last post about it you were just starting, but now that you've experienced it, would you still recommend it??? So my questions are: 1) did you see results after doing the rotation (even though you didn't enjoy it) and 2) do you enjoy the videos individually? Would you recommend them not in the rotation?

I can feel the results from SS..I have been using them off and on for a couple of months now. It wasn't until recently that I decided to give the rotation a try. I enjoyed it much better when I used these workouts when I wanted to and not when someone told me to. My only complaint is the cardio bursts..they are not that intense..instead of the light jogging which is preformed I do high knee running or plyo jumps. This keeps my heartrate up enough to make me feel like I am working hard. I don't experience the *high* I get from completing a Cathe workout..especially her cardio. But for toning..I am all for the SS. I can tell a difference in the muscle tone of my legs..but most of all my arms. One more thing about the SS..I choose the *music off* option and play my own..this really helps the time pass. I think they are a great addition to my video library..variety is important:)

I am trying to drill into my head that numbers are not the correct way to measure success..but I am having a hard time with this. This morning was the first time I weighed myself in a few weeks and the scale still reads 135x( I am just going to throw that thing out}(

Ooops, sorry, I just realized you have only been doing it for five days... still, let me know what you think
:)

Rotations are hard to stick too, but they do work.

When I did the SS rotation it was the 3rd week that I really started to see the BIG changes. So, try your hardest to stick out the 4 weeks. You'll be so happy you did. Remember you are shocking your body. It's used to Cathe and doesn't want a to change.;-) But, Change will do you good. The 4 weeks will go by fast, if you think of the end results. Remember to eat really clean and healthy and you will see a difference. Then after you can do all the Cathe you want and you'll see all those muscles you have worked so hard for.}(

I can't stick to rotations either. I make up my own, then change them every week or so. I still get the best results when I do what my body "feels" like doing that day. I try to stick with my cardio alternating with weights "rule", but I don't always.

:)

SS is a hard rotation to stick with because all the workouts are so similar. Also, if you are actually doing them every day, you may risk overtraining because of the repetitiveness of the workouts.

Try doing SS workouts every other day, with a Cathe cardio workout in between.

Thank you all for your advice..I just was not feeling energized and excited to be working out with the 6 day straight SS. I am going to alternate them with Cathe and only use the SS workouts I like. I did see and feel a difference with the SS..but it was just too repetitive (sp?) for me. Can't go 4 weeks without my Cathe fix:)
