Can't find clothes that fit!

OK, I have a serious problem - now that I've lost weight, I cannot find any pants that fit me! My waist is too small in proportion to my hips. Even the low rise jeans gap in the back. And I really don't want to wear elastic waist stuff anymore - I've been hiding under long tops for too long. My boss prefers I wear casual dress slacks (dockers, khakis, etc) but I can wear jeans on occasion. Can anyone recommend a store or brand geared toward this body style? I wear talls, too - that makes it even harder. Looking at catalogs hasn't helped much, keep running into the same problem.

TIA,
Kathy in Wayne, OH

I have the exact same problem. I have the best luck at Belk's and have actually found pants in 10 minutes flat that fit beautifully. I can't do that in any other store within a 50-mile radius.

Where in Wayne Co. do you live? I'm in North Canton, but lived in Doylestown for a long time and worked in Orrville. The Wayne Co. Fair is one of the very best, IMO!

Hey Kathy,

I have the exact same problem, that is until I discovered Gap's Curvy Line of pants. They are amazing. I no longer have to wear belts to scrunch in the waist of my pants and my pants don't gap in the back any longer. The fit is amazing and Gap pants last forever. You should definetly give them a try!

Good luck,
Liz

Now that you mention it, I did buy Gap jeans when I was in college (OK, so that was 20 years ago!)

Thanks for all the tips everybody - looks like I'll have to make a road trip. I don't have any of those stores nearby.

If you have a local tailor that you like, buy pants that fit your hips and have them nip in the back for a good fit. If you are investing in a quality pair of pants, I think it's worth the $15 to have them fitted.

I have the same problem, but I'm short. Same issue, not enough short lengths available.

I've discovered the Lee's is making a "new fit" cut that seems to fit me. The waist is smaller than normal, but the hips are cut wide enough for me. I found mine at Filene's.

I will be stopping in at some of the stores listed above, though. While I love my new look, I hate shopping because it takes forever to find pants that fit.

PS - I had stopped in at a Coldwater Creek store. Their pants have the smaller waists too. The hips were just a bit too roomy for me (first time I've ever had that happen), but if you like the styles, you might want to try them too!

Hi,

I have the same problem as you. I hear this more and more
from women having the same problem as us and it makes me wonder
why pants are designed like that. I am usually a size 8 or 10
but occasionally a 6 will fit. I find that Lee and Gap
brands seem to fit me best.

FYI
I shop at thrift and consignment shops
a lot because the Gap is so very expensive that I don't know
who could afford their prices. I find a lot of Gap and Lee
brand pants at great prices $5.00 to $10.00 per pair.
