Can we talk Socks?

hi all,

well..i've been on this 'sock hunt' of late, but have yet to find something that i like, that's not $15/pair of socks! :O

i'm looking for something with cushion, and that has some sort of 'cool max' type material for moisture wicking.

i've tried champion (not enough moisture wicking), lady foot locker (too expensive), and columbia (not quite enough cushion). the nike/fila one's don't seem to have enough moisture wicking, either.

what socks do you favor? and where do you get them? oh yea, and the 'breaker question', "how much are they???" eek!

thanks so much!

Haven't tried these yet, but Cathe posted this in response to a similar question.
Hope this helps
(I don't know how to do a link, so I just copied her response)

Hi Mar!

With only a size 5 1/2 foot, I have to wear youth socks or I will get the bunching up at the toe problem. I like the Reebok ankle height(or just below) socks. I have been wearing these forever. They are not too bulky, yet not too thin. If they ever discontinue them I will cry. If I find a link to them, I will post it. Take Care!

Found them:

I was on a sock hunt about 2 months ago- I feel your pain!

Champion makes a zillion different kinds- at Target, Mervyns, and Costco they are all different Champion socks. Don't know why, it was irritating. Lucky me found the kind I liked at Costco with a coupon, so I ended up paying $1 a pair!

Have you looked at socks at www.roadrunnersports.com? They'll be expensive, but maybe you can read a bit about ones to try. HTH,

I used to get some Coolmax ones (my favorites!) at Walmart (don't remembbe the brand), but they don't seem to carry them anymore. x(

I've also seem some at the Reebok factory outlet (from time to time).

I agree with Amy, and www.roadrunnersports.com is an excellent resource for buying socks. The socks that I like are made by Thorlo, and, while they may be a little more expensive, they last forever. I always get the classic ones that have the thicker pads, and they also help in cushioning your foot a bit when you do higher impact cardo.

Thorlos are the best!

I've tried them all, and these are the most comfortable. They are about $10 a pair, but sometimes you can find a "buy one pair, get the second pair half off" sale.

thanks everybody...

hmmm..thorlo..my hubby has a couple pair of those he used for running...they are a bit pricier, but..i'll still give 'em a looksie. ;)

thanks for that link to cathe's reebok socks, too..

i tell ya, i've gotta find me some socks i like..i figure..if it can help me get "any little edge" on my high impact workouts with cathe..."i'll take it!" LOL :D

thanks again!

I love Thorlo myself and the new kid on the block, Smartwool. They are cushy, breathe and don't stink!

Live a little - I would rather have 2 pairs of super nice socks and rotate them. Your feet will love you!!!!!!
