Buff Badgers - Friday 8/19/05

Morning BB's,

Didn't get a chance to post yesterday, way to busy at work and at home. What a storm! Last night was Circuit Max and CTX Upper Body.

Tonight will be Step Works and intervals 1-5 of Imax1.

Youngest DD went up another level in her swimming, she was very happy about that. Those two girls are like fish, they just love to swim. Oldest DD is going to be on the swim team. Lot's of $ and lot's of time, but probably well worth it in the end.

Have a great day!

Laurie

Hi everyone,

I'm so glad it's Friday. It's been a busy but very slow week. There's been a lot going on at work, and everybody seems to be on edge, including me. I hate feeling that way. I'm looking forward to a quiet weekend at home.

I started the August rotation this morning with Body Max and 200 jumping jacks. We'll see how long I last on it. I started it today so the day with Boot Camp x 2 will fall on a Saturday (next week, actually). It'll also give me a rest day on Thursday instead of Sunday, which is usually better for me because mid-week seems to be really low-energy.

One other thing: Can anyone recommend a healthy-food cookbook or two? I don't cook much, and most of what I do cook are things that take a relatively short time to make. I need to start making smarter food decisions, so I guess I'm looking for inspiration. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Take care. Is it 5 p.m. yet? :)

Hi Laurie & Ellen!

Where is everyone? I am afraid our little daily checkin is falling apart. :(

Laurie-good news for your daughter! My younger son is autistic and not into sports, but my older son is a total jock. Plays the big 3, so we're busy all year round. There are only 2 weeks out of each year that he (we) have a break-between football and basketball. It IS a lot of money, and a lot of TIME, but I agree it's well worth it. I firmly believe it keeps them out of trouble and too busy to be bad lol.

Ellen-good job on your workout this morning. And good luck on the rotation! I'm too scared to try it. I have found tons of free recipes online by searching for "weight watchers recipes". They are generally low fat based.

Speaking of sports, I'm proud of my son! He is a sophomore this year and has made the varsity football team! (He played varsity baseball as a freshman too). It's a tough thing for him to make it cuz he's so small. He's about 5'5" and 130 pounds---VERY much smaller than all of his friends. Almost all of his friends are over 6' already, at 15! So our Friday nights will be fun this fall. I love football. :)

The storm was BAD here in East Troy last night! We actually went in the basement and cleared space under the stairwell in case we had to dive for it. But it was just wind and torrential rain and hail. My poor little bush in the front yard lost almost all it's leaves. I'm sad cuz it's a pretty burning bush; the ones that turn red in fall. It was just starting to turn.

You can sort of tell---the low bush next to it shows through, but there are almost no leaves!

I have had 2 rest days=-yuck!!!! Not sure what I'm doing today, but I am NOT letting myself have another rest day. It's too east to get out of the exercise habit.

Happy Friday!
Jill

Hi All!
We didn't even get any rain although considering the intensity of this storm, I am not complaining.

I think this is a slow time for the forum in general. Even VF is really slow these days. Although some people have gotten Turbo Jam so that is causing some excitement. Maybe this means mine will arrive next week.

Jill sorry about your bush. We had a tree hit by lightening about a week ago and lost a few big branches. It looks very sad!

Went to the MD about my bee sting since my foot and toes were still huge and red. She gave me antibiotics and prednisone so hopefully in a few days I'll be back to working out.

Is a daily check-in too much for everyone? Would once a week be better and just add to it during the week? I wish they had a separate area since the threads seem to get lost quickly.

Hi marie. Gee I hope your foot is better soon. Ouch!!

Weekly check in is okay, but I would suggest making the title with capital letters since all of our requests for a separate board were ignore! :(

Hi everyone!

Late post for me today. Didn't get to post yesterday. It has been absolutely crazy here at work. Sooooo glad it's Friday!

Wow, what a storm last night. I live in Madison, Stoughton is about 20 miles away from here or so (just a guess)--terrible pictures today of the destruction from that tornado. Saw some pics of the actual tornado on tv and it was HUGE. Sounds like there were tornados just about everywhere in WI yesterday, hope everyone is okay! Didn't seem to storm too much in my neck of the woods. Heard more could come tonight though.

My ankle is still healing. I am planning a "rotation" to do next week involving upper body, abs and some biking/walking. I will just take it day by day and see how it goes.

Sounds like everyone is keeping busy! Have a great weekend!

I just wanted to say that my mom lives in Stoughton, and she said she was sitting in the sun in her backyard when the tornado sirens started going off — she didn't know anything was wrong, and she didn't get any rain at all! She went inside just in case, and her TV was out so she couldn't get any news about what was happening. She was really lucky; she lives only about five miles or so from where the major damage happened, near the Stoughton Country Club on Highway 51. She said Main Street in Stoughton is a mess. She was supposed to come to Madison to have dinner with us tonight, but she doesn't think they'll let anyone leave or enter the city. I guess it just goes to show — if the sirens are going off, it's probably for a reason. My dad always liked to watch storms and see what was going on when the weather was bad, so I always did that too, and still do. I guess I should go to the basement instead :)

Hey, Ellen! I have a sister who lives in Stoughton but she was okay since she lives on the other side of town. My nephew's girlfriend was at an Open Pantry about 1/4 mile away from where it hit. Sis said 2 houses on 51 were totally GONE this morning on her way to work. I don't think they're closing down the city or anything but only people who live in the neighborhood will be allowed back in their homes or the subdivision.

Checking in late today because I went out for lunch which is usually my "Cathe time". Did Musclemax this morning. After Kickmax tomorrow I will be done with the Hardcore Fat Loss Rotation. I've got to say that I really liked this rotation. It pushed me when I needed to be pushed but wasn't too much either. I'd love to do the Boot Camp rotation next but time does not allow. . .

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Sue

Sorry I've been MIA....we're knee deep in our remodeling project so I haven't been on the boards at all until tonight - at work. I haven't worked out since Tuesday, and we went to the Racine boat show yesterday and ate out twice...so that was no good at all! I'm back on track today with eating, but it will be likely next week before I'm back with the exercise. I'm trying to come up with strategies to keep myself motivated and on track. What helps you to get up and stick to your workout routine and clean eating when the face of temptation rears it's ugly head?

I hope to be around more next week - and I'm also hoping to have running water in my kitchen by the time I gt home tonight!!! :)

Have a good weekend everyone!

Amy
