Bowflex select tech dumbbells

Winter

Cathlete
Hi All,

Does anyone have these? Are they easy and sturdy to use? They look like they could be not as solid as a normal dumbbell. Can you change the weight quickly?

Any negatives?

I have to expand my weights and I was going to wait for the Cathe equipment to come out but I love the space saving design of the bowflex.

Thanks much,
winter

Winter,

I have these dumbells they are great-well worth the price. I think the only downfall is that I am slow at changing the weight. I have to pause the workout to change the weight.

I think they are a very worthy investment.

I had to leave these in NY:( The good thing about them is that they go up to 50lbs and it's not hard to change them during the workout. The only issue I have with them is that they're much larger than your average dumbbell. So when doing certain exercises, you might feel like you need to adjust yourself. I would suggest you go to a store that has them, and try out different exercises to see if you like them. I've had to buy a set in the UK temporarily, and switching the weights is such an issue, it's really frustrating. So stick with Bowflex if you're going to get these types of weights. They're worth the money.

I own them, and love them. Like a previous poster, I have to pause the tape to adjust the weight at times, but nothing I can't deal with!! Sometimes I even look forward to that pause...:7

Love them! I'd like to buy the stands for them soon. They are bulky when you up the weight but you soon get used to it.

i love mine. i would suggest them to anyone who wants a nice set of dumbbells. definately worth the price.

I have them and love them...:)...they are sturdy to use but they are a bit "longer" than regular dumbells. I have not really found a problem with that though...

I also have these and love them! There are some exercises where regular dumbbells are better (for me anyway). For example I have very small shoulders so it's more comfortable to do exercises like front raises with a regular 5 lb weight rather than the Bowflex db's as the Bowflex weights are a little longer. Also for some workouts like ME where the changes are very fast, it's easier with regular dumbbells. So I have both! But I will say I use my Bowflex db's 80% of the time. If you get them, get the stand also; you'll be glad you did! :)
