Bootcamp + Slow Heavy

Hi everyone,

I was thinking of doing a rotation using a 6 day split with the Slow and Heavy series (1 body part per day), and alternating Bootcamp with some other cardio activity too. So, I would do Bootcamp 3 alternate days with the 30 min. of Slow/Heavy and 3 of Cathe's other tapes such as Imax 2 or 3 or step blast or Rythmic step on the other days (plus the 30 min. of Slow/Heavy). My Question to all of you is this: Is this going to be too intense? Will I be overtraining? Would it be better for me to take it easier on the non-Bootcamp days and do only 30 min. of cardio. (the ctx cardio segments maybe.) I consider myself an advanced exerciser, although it took me a couple of times to get through the "Blast" segment in HC Kickmax without stopping to give Cathe and crew some unkind words!
Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Vickie--

You might be overtraining with that schedule, since there is weight work in Boot Camp plus you will be getting pretty intense weight work with slow and heavy. I don't see how you will avoid working the same body part two days in a row.

But, I wish that the educated crowd would weigh in, because sometimes I feel like buffoon on these forums:+.

I did a slow and heavy rotation last summer (which I am planning to do again this summer)where I did one upper body part per day and did leg/cardio circuits after my weight work. (I personally don't care for slow and heavy legs--to hard on my knees)

A sample week might have looked like this:

day 1--SH chest+BC legs/cardio premix
day 2--SH back+cardio
day 3--L&G or PS legs or PLB or some other all leg workout
day 4--SH shoulders+cardio
day 5--SH biceps+HSTA legs/cardio premix
day 6--SH triceps+cardio

Maybe if you wanted to get Slow and Heavy and Bootcamp in the same week, you could do something like this--

day 1--SH chest, shoulders, triceps
day 2--SH legs+cardio
day 3--cardio
day 4--SH back, biceps
day 5--cardio
day 6--Boot camp

just a suggestion

If you try your rotation as planned, please post your results. It sounds a bit too intense for me:), but I love to hear how different people do with different rotations. It gives me ideas.

take care

maggie,

Thanks so much for your input. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Thanks for your ideas too. I might do the getting lean routine posted here. It uses the Intensity and Hardcore series. I'll let you know.

Maggie:

you are no buffoon. Your response is just fine, perfectly sensible. So, stand tall, lift that chin, you're doing great! :)
