Cathe,

Curious about the kinds of books you enjoy reading. I'm one that needs help in getting a great book to read from the suggestions of others. Any suggestions?

Can hardly wait for the new DVD's that are comming. It is getting closer, I'm sure you are feeling much better and I can hardly sit still. Can you feel the excitement?

Take care,

Janie

Hi Janie! I have to confess that I am not a big book reader at all. I guess having little kids keeps me from diving into a good book. But even aside from that fact, the minute I sit down to a book (good or bad), within five pages I am dozing off. I don't think I am cut out for reading books, ha :7

Hi!

I know you didn't ask me, and I'm sorry to but in here, but I'm an author and besides writing, I'm reading almost all the time. And because I'm an author, I often am reading other people's (friend's) books and I just read and read and read. I can't imagine life without a good book in my hand -- and my nose in it.

So my question is -- what do you like to read? Fiction, and if so, what kind of fiction? Or do you want to read about nutrition or exercise? In other words, what do you enjoy?

Here's a few suggestions (only cause I'm 6 days away from a heavy deadline and don't know when I'll be back on this forum again.

For nutrition, one of the best books out there is NOURISHING TRADITIONS by Sally Fallon. There's also Enzyme Nutrition by Dr. Edward Howell. Also THE UNTOLD STORY OF MILK by Ron Schmid, ND. Those are good starters.

For exercise, I'm often recommending READY, STE, GO! by Phil Campbell, as he goes through basics that bring about good understanding of the different muscle groups and why different exercises work -- plus rotations and why they are important.

As far as fiction goes, it's your taste entirely. I write historical romance, Native American, but again, I read almost every genre out there.

Anyway, perhaps I should have kept my nose out of it, but when talking about books, it's a subject I love so very much.

Have a great one.:7

Good Morning Cathe,

I also have to confess, that since I'm retired, and our children are grown, that I now have time for books.

Thank you for your message, it's always a thrill.

Good Morning Karen Kay,

I've met you here on the forums, and remember how much you have impressed me. You invited me to talk with you on a forum with a few other ladies (this was about a year ago), when you had to travel because of your work. I didn't keep it up, but now wished I had. I also remember looking for books from you on the internet. WOW, you still impress me!

I'm interrested in all the above. Thank you for the suggestions. I ask people what they like, because I don't want to waste my time on something that is boring. I've done that all too often. Life is too short to read a book that you don't care about.

I do have great exercise and nutrition books. Just sometimes would love to curl up with any genre book that is full of excitement, or love, mystery,...You get my drift don't you?

It is so nice hearing from you again,

Janie

Hi Janie!

I'm so glad that I was able to return to this forum and see your message. Thank you so much for your compliments -- you made my heart sing.:)

I read so many varied things because it gets my mind off of my own writing -- plus, I just love books.

Here are some suggestions: Again the best nutrition book -- it changed the way I think about food and the way I cook -- is NOURISHING TRADITIONS by Sally Fallon.

And then here are some books that I have enjoyed: Taming the Barbarian by Lois Greiman -- The Rogue's Return by Jo Beverly.

My most favorite romance book of all time is Shanna, by Kathline Woodiwiess -- if you can find it. My most recent book is The Spirit of the Wolf. There's a few for starters.

All of the above, with maybe the exception of Shanna, are available at borders.com or barnesandnoble.com or any bookstore outside of WalMart or grocery stores -- and if they aren't on the shelf, the bookstore can almost always order them.

Have fun, Janie, and you're certainly still welcome to come over and chat anytime you want to --we've moved the site to the check in and challenges site -- and it's under KK's July Check in, I think.

Have a super day. :7

Hi Karen,

I'm so glad to revisit this thread, or I might have missed you. I'm wanting a comical book to read. Thank you for your suggestion, I'll check with my library and see if they have these books. I would love to laugh about now.

Thanks again,

Janie

Hi Everyone,

Laura, sounds like you are a playful spirit. What are Dragon Lance novels?

I wanted to let everyone know that I opened a "Check In Book Review" in the Check in and Challenges forum. We could move this subject over there if you like. Seems there are other people interrested in books as well. Hope to see you there.

Hi Karen,

Wow, how amazing! I just googled you (Did you feel it?) After reading about you, methinks I will have to do some ordering from Amazon. I read my first Native American novel last year: 'She Who Remembers' by Linda Lay Shuler. It's one of those books you wish was 10,000 pages long, and it actually inspired me to travel to Anasazi lands in April this year, as part of a four week trip to the US.

I've always been fascinated with the Native American culture. As a child growing up in Australia, we would go to the cinema and see films about 'Cowboys and Indians'. (At the age of six, I thought they were make believe, like spacemen.) Even as a kid, I always cheered for the Indians. So it was a dream come true to actually meet some Navajo people and share a meal with them.

Like you, I can't imagine life without books. I would have loved to have been a writer, but I couldn't write a story to save myself, so I'm content to read other people's books. And I'm really looking forward to reading some of yours.

Regards
