Body Fat Percentage

I had mine done this past week and I was very happy with the results. But, I wonder if it was accurate. Anyone have advice with the caliper method? I only had the 4 site test. I know it isn't as accurate as other methods generally, but any idea how far off these are? The person doing it does caliper tests quite often on athletes so he did have experience.

Maybe I should just take my good result and be done with it, eh?

What's most important is consistency in taking the measurements. Short of a DEXA scan, any hand-held device or caliper method is only as accurate as the user. I use the 7 point method, but of course you need help with that method. If you're consistent in how you use the calipers and in where you test each site, each time, you should get fairly accurate results. Measuring bodyfat is only one number you can use, so also use your scale weight, your tape measure, and of course how you look and how your clothes fit, to get the whole picture.

Hopefully others will chime in with their experiences as well.

Don't know about calipers, but ...

I broke down and bought one of those super-expensive Tanita scale/body composition monitors. I really like it because it gives a detailed breakdown of body fat, bone, muscle, water, and even breaks the fat percentage and muscle down to left/right leg, arm, and also torso.

I don't know how accurate it is, but it tracks results and I use it consistently to monitor my progress.

I think it was worth it, and my DH uses it too.
