I always allow my self a cheat day which is usually on sundays. Mon thru sat Im really good and do cathe's rotation. What I have noticed is that at least once a week I always pig out on gold fish. I love love love these little suckers and I could never have just a couple or those 100 cal packs. I buy the big box from BJs which has 3 foiled bags in the box and could eat almose half the bag in one sitting like I did last night while watching the Biggest Loser. My family loves them especially my 2yr old. I also love the Gold Rold Honey Wheat Pretzels. I always eat the WHOLE bag. Is this considered Bingeing?
 
oooh. I LOVE those Honey Wheat Pretzels. I'm not with you on the goldfish though. Ugh. My kids burned me out on those. I'd be happy to never see another goldfish or banana as long as I live.

I don't know if I'd call it bingeing as much as indulging. And if you're not seeing a negative impact from it, then I don't think it's so terrible. You don't do it every day. And it's not donuts, it's lowfat crackers and pretzels.

Just my 2 cents.
 
I don't think it's binging either. I would compare it to eating a bag of chips or something similar, or popcorn at the movies. Only probably a little better for you than either of those.
 
You guys are making me feel so much better. Although when I eat the pretzels I usually weigh about 1 lb or 1.5lb the next morning. My guess it is the salt
 
Yeah, you're not bingeing in my opinion. Just overindulging! ;)

Try to take some goldfish (a weakness of mine too!!!) or pretzels, put them in a bowl (not a HUGE bowl, mind you....) and then close the box/bag and put it away. Take the bowl to the tv/computer/table and sit down and enjoy them. If you really want more, you'll have to get up, take the clip off the bag/open the box, poor some more in a bowl, close up the bag AGAIN and walk away. It helps to make the whole process a little more complicated so you don't keep going back for more. Plus it gives you time to think about whether or not you REALLY want more or if you're satisfied. It helps me, at least. Good luck!

Ive tried it all but nothing works. Its funny because there could be a whole chocolate cake in front of me and I have the will but those darn goldfish and pretzels get me alllllllll the time.
 
Yeah, I have issues with goldfish, too! So yummy! I think its a salt and carb craving. If I am not careful, I'll eat the whole bag! Sometimes I will just go to bed so I won't give in!!! Maybe I'm not getting enough carbs during the day??? Who knows. Good to know I'm not the only one with a weakness for those goldfish! Gotta love/hate 'em!!! Nancy~~
 
I wouldn't call it a binge either. I do like goldfish, but I'm addicted to those stacey's pita chips!!!

Oh, me, too! In fact, I have to NOT buy them or I will devour so many of them! Isn't it funny how many of us just crave carbs??
 
I adore those little fish! Yes, aren't they considered seafood?:p

My favorite are the baby ones, then you don't feel like you are eating that many because they are smaller.;)

I used to have a bag in the car so I could snack if I got hungry.
 
a binge is out of control eating. it is not over eating a cheat each week. i say your in the clear. have you noticed any weight gain or a stall in your weight loss by having an entire cheat day?

same here, and I KNOW that there is a huge thing of them in the pantry right now. MUST-RESIST-LITTLE-FISHIES!

Kariev - I have usually a cheat day a week - the day varies (usually Fri or Sat) and I haven't found my weight to go up or anything. I really look forward to it. I think I would feel stressed out if I didn't have a night once in awhile for a pizza and chips or some good old home-made brownies.

Oh, girl!! It's not the goldfish, it's the JIF I dip them in. Can't resist the big jar!!! (on sale at Target last week for like $2) I have to PB everyday, even just a nibble off the end of the spoon. But I'd say its not a binge, it's your planned cheat day. You plan it, you allow for it, so I'd say its not a binge. For some people it's pizza or ice cream, for you its goldfish.

I am pretty happy with my weight. I would love to get down to 120 I weigh 123 but those last three pounds kill me. I got down to 120.50 but it's sooooooooo hard to stay there. If I even lick a slice of bread BAM it's up pass 120.50. I know Im being a little nuerotic but What can I say. With a cheat day usually on sunday when I weigh my self monday morning Im usually up by 2lbs but then it comes right off during the week when I jump back into my routine.
 
I would consider bingeing to be eating numerous foods and not just one. I don't think eating half a bag of goldfish would be considered bingeing,even if you did it every night. Now if you got up from eating your fish,then had a ice cream,then a cookie,then some popcorn....thats what I call bingeing.
