BFL - Saturday, April 12

Good Saturday Morning! I tossed and turned last night...too warm in the house. I had a nightmare; two guys were trying to break-in through the bedroom window  then I dreamed I was running in a race. I feel pretty good considering!

I will be taking off in about 45 minutes for the 10k! I will let ya'll know how it went. Can't wait to "see" you guys at the finish line!

Have a great Saturday! Clean eats and hard workouts! }(

Stephanie -- Good luck!! Yes, we will all be there at the finish line!! Sorry you had such a rough night!

I woke up at 4:30 -- so I thought I'd make the best of it. I did Jari Love Ripped to the Core. Feeling good - so now I'll go start my day!!

Michelle

GO STEPHANIE!

I got to sleep in today, which is good because I have major DOMS today. Yes, weighted gloves, that would work to increase weight a little bit, DUH!

I'll catch up on everything else in a bit.

Go Go Go Stephanie!
Good morining!
My plan was to sleep in, but I woke up ready to roll at 5. Drank coffee and visited with DH and now Im just surfing a bit.

So, we're in the Walmart checkout line last night. DD leans over and says "Mama, I don't know if this is true, but Curry (a girl at school) said you have to have sex to have a baby, is that true".
I have been told that 2nd grade is when the questions come up, but I was not expecting it.
I have alwayws planned to be very open and honest with her about these things. My mom NEVER told me anything. Not even about periods. Haley has known about periods and how babies are born for years now. Anyway, I told her we would talk about it when we got home. I quickly went to Parentcenter.com for some advice. I must say it was a great talk! I didn't offer any info..just answered her questions. Luckily she didn't ask about the mechanics of it all...but I know thats coming. I told her she could come to me with ANY questions and I would answer them, but she should not talk abou this at school etc.
Any advice would be greaty appreciated!!!!!

Today's workout will be Kick Max in a bit.

Good morning to everyone!!!

Good Morning girls!

GO Stephanie,GO Girl! Im waving and cheering you on at the finish line;-)

Today is gs s/b/b and some abb work then a interval on the treadmill

I wasn't impressed with the scale this morning,it hasn't moved hardly any? I DON'T CARE becasue my JEANS are Falling off my hips;-) i can pull them off without unbuttoning them:7...so scale smale, right!!!!

So thats one week over of nice eating, yay me:);-) My next challenge will start tommorrow and i will go another week of nice, clean eating!:)

Susan-my kids are still little ones and im not looking forward to the talk! Sounds like you did very good though!!!! My mother NEVER explained anything to me either,so don't feel alone about that!

Sherry-Im going to try that little trick too,i never thought of using weighted gloves, wristweights, ankle weights. High fives on the DOMS!

ETA-
I just wanted to share something special with you girls,Im SO VERY proud of my DD! She is 6,in kindergarten. She won the Carrol County Young Georgia Authors' Comptetition for kindergartener's! As a mother,im know im doing something right,now;-)!

Ameilia have a great workout. Hi5 on the jeans falling off. Doesnt it feel good!!!

That is great about your DD. I know you are so proud of her!!!

I just made some Oatmeal Cookie Pancakes (saw the recipe yesterday) and DD and DH love them
Much better for you than regular pancakes. I tried just a small peice. I am sticking to my protein pancakes that I love

Im off to workout! BBL

Susan-funny about DD. Like you, my mom never had the talk with me either! I had had my period for a few months before my mom even found out! Yeah, I didn't tell her.....I'd actually FLUSH the used 'stuff' down the toilet! Thank goodness my DAD never found that out, or he'd have ME plunge it! LOL

Stephanie-Can't WAIT to hear how the race went.

Sherry-I'm with you on the DOMS today! Enjoy! LOL I am SOOO SOOORRREEE all across my upper body..shoulders, chests, tris! LOVE IT ALL!

Michelle-now THAT's the way to take advantage of an EARLY Saturday morning!

OK...I'm all pumped up. After my mid-week meltdown, and after the advice of all of YOU here and some others on the BFL boards, I changed things up a bit. This morning's workout? I didn't feel like a run, and cardio was on tap, so.............STEP BLAST, baby!. Then SJ&P abs. OH MAN! Was I in cardio HEAVEN! I'm tellin ya! I LOVED IT! LOVED IT! Can you tell? And for breakfast....I didn't feel like protein pancakes, or a shake. So what did I eat? A BANANA! Can't tell you the last time I've eaten a BANANA! OH SO YUMMY!!!!

Like a kid at Christmas, I tell ya!

OK...sorry to hit and run AGAIN! We've got baseball practice for younger DS in 30 minutes, and a game for older DS at 3...but it's supposed to rain, so I'm expecting the game to get cancelled. Then I'm babysitting for my best friend while she, her DH and her parents go to the High School for their production of something or other! lol So I'll be knee-deep in kiddies tonight!

BBL, promise!

Gayle

Susan - Way to go on being honest with your DD. I have to tell you, my DS asked me NOTHING. So I was so shocked when my DD started with the questions so early. I ended up going to Amazon.com and searched for books. They have some great ones. I sat both the kids down and we read them together. My DS was soooo embarrased. My DD was asking questions the entire time. My DD is in 2nd and knows everything. I wanted her to learn the truth at home instead of hearing it at school -- and obviously they are talking about it at school. I also bought her the American Girl book on how to take care of your body. It is REALLY good. I have about 5 books for both boys and girls and and I keep them put up -- in case other kids are over. It is interesting because every now and then my DS will ask to look at the books on his own.

Anyway, they both know not to talk about it at school -- and both were shocked that I thought they would -- they think it is so gross, why on earth would they "talk" about it! ha ha! Now things are so much easier - we can talk about things that I always had to dodge before. I love having this open type attitude with them -- because like the rest of you, my mom never talked with me.

Hey Sherry, Amelia and Gayle!!! :) Chat with you later!

Can't wait to hear from Stephanie!

Michelle

Stephanie - you are probably already gone but GOOD LUCK!! Let us know how you did.

Michelle - 4:30...^^^5's to you for keeping that up. YOU ROCK!!

Sherry - I don't have weighted gloves, but I'm wondering if I can somehow make ankle weights work?!

Susan - your post really hit home since our DD's are the same age. I am not looking forward to that "talk", but I know it's coming sooner than later. You handled that really well and I'll probably be looking to you for some advice when the time comes!!:7 My mom never told me anything either. Even when I met DH at 17, I knew absolutely nothing about anything. He teases me all the time that my parents kept me in a bubble and for the most part they did. These days, things are so different. I wish I could keep DD in a bubble, but I know she'll either learn things from her friends or from us and I'd much rather it be us. Way to go on being open and honest with her!

Amelia - my scale isn't impressing me either. I say we just throw them out the window and pretend they never existed!!}( Are you with me?!?!? The fact that your jeans are falling off of your hips, especially if they are your jeans and not DH's ;-) , means way more than any scale does! You are doing GREAT!!! Wow on your DD winning that competition. That is wonderful for you and her!!

Gayle - glad to see you "back" and in your normal PUMPED UP state!

Just got done with CleanMax. It really needed it too after being away last weekend. Going to head out and get DD's hair cut. It's done to the middle of her back right now, all one length. She wants to cut it above her shoulders. I can't wait to see what it looks like!

Have a great day everyone and I'll BBL.

Morning!
I fell asleep last night at 9 pm and woke up this morning at 8 am to the bird singing and the sun shining! I must have been exhausted because I feel GREAT now. :)

Go Stephanie! I'm sure you've crossed the finish line now but I was thinking about you this morning. I can't wait to hear how it went!

On the DD talk, that's a tough one. My daughter is 24 and I remember how hard it was but I always wanted to be upfront and answer any questions too. My mother totally avoided the whole situation and I learned everything from my two older sisters. :(

One thing DD did do was flush stuff down though. It clogged up the toilet so bad DH had to remove it and replace it in the old house, lol. We thought our youngest son had flushed a stuffed animal or something down there but when DH pulled the throne up....what ya know (ha,ha!) Pretty gross huh? :7 Poor girl is still embarrassed about it.

Well, I'm hoping to make it to the pool later but it all depends on DH's plans for the day. Tomorrow is my long run so I'll have to get up extra early.

Kathy

Hey gals! Just a quick check-in then off to hit the shower!

My goal was 1:11:00..............actual time 1:09:16! Not to shabby! My first mile was 10:02...SLOW DOWN GIRL! Mile 5 I was asking myself, can I make it? It was a challenge for sure, but what is the point of a challenge, right? The brochure said "mildly rolling hills", NOT!

I felt you all with me. A BIG thank you! WHOO HOO! Team work!

bbl

Michelle, I need to pull out a Jari Love soon..its been a while! RTTC is my fav so far of hers.
Thank you so much for your input on DDs questions. I feel so good about the situation. I agree I would much rather her learn the right stuff at home. In a round aobut way I told her that her friends most likely didnt know what they were talking about and to come to with me anything and everything.
I am interested in the American Girl book for her! She hugged me this morning and said "mama I love you even more today"...she is such a darling..I am so lukcy!!!

Melissa, I was amazed at how my DD reacted to it all. They are so much smarter than you think at this age. I wonder why paretns back then didnt talk about it. Our DD's and DS's wont have to feel like we did! When I said to DD she could ask me anything..that just opened the floodgates..she was just a rambling!

Stephanie..way to go girl!!!!

Hey Gail glad you are feeling pumped!!! Funny about the flushing now, but I bet at the time it was a scary time going throug that by yourself!

My workout is done just ate a protein pancake and about to get busy with my day.
BB to check on your girls later! The sun is out here FINALLY. YAAY

YAY STEPHANIE!!!!! :D You did AWESOME! What a great time, you did it....you beat your goal! WOOHOO! I'm doing the happy dance for ya girl. :)

Kathy

CONGRATULATIONS STEPHANIE!!!!:7 :7 :7 Way to go on beating your goal!! I bet you're floating for the rest of the day!

Susan - after my post earlier, I remembered that last year sometime we had bought DD a book about how the body works. It's a really good book and answered alot of her questions (and mine as well!). The first thing I did when we brought it home was staple together the section on "reproduction". She hadn't started asking about that yet and I wasn't ready to have that discussion. When she asked my why she couldn't see it, I told her that when the time came, we would take out the staples and we would let her read it and look at the pictures (nothing graphic, just general stuff). I completely forgot about that until now. Thanks for your post, it really has me thinking about how and when I want her to find out about the things I was never told!!

Okay, HIIT done. I ended up doing HSTA cardio only repeating 4 & 5 to make it long enough. Now off to get a snack... :9

Stephanie-CONGRATS, girl! You did fantastic! Way to set a goal and BEAT IT! Yeah, NEVER believe them when they say "rolling hills". lol

GREAT JOB!

Just have enough time to have my lunch (tossed salad with a pouch of white tuna), and now we're off to our baseball game!

Gayle

Good morning girls,

I am in El Paso! Feels great to be with my kids again! The flight was really stressful for the dogs! I will go shopping today! My DH is only staying until Wednesday! I will workout today, but later! The time change is messing me up today! My head is hurting like grazy!

CONGRATULATIONS STEPHANIE!!!!

I will be back later to report my workout!
Belinda

Ahhh, all showered up! Feels nice!

Michelle, great workout today! You sound like a great Mom and it's great that your kids know they can come to you! LOL on your DS! That's the way mine acted! I remember my talk, when we were about half-way through, I asked DS if he new what sex was and he said yeah, which shocked me! So I asked, can you tell me? He said yeah, male and female! That ended the conversation for a few months!

Sherry, how nice of your family to let you sleep in today! Enjoy those DOMS!}(

Susan, wow, in the Wal-Mart check-out line? You seem to be a good Mom too! You and Michelle are doing all the right things. You are: #1-Being available, #2-Answering ALL of their questions and #3-Being HONEST with them. What your DD said this morning, how sweet! Being open and honest (even with the tough stuff!) really brings you and your children closer. It's definitely a bonding experience. Hope you had fun with Kick Max!

Amelia, another great workout planned for you! That is so AWESOME about your pants! YIPPEE!!! Don't you pay that scale any mind! Go by the way your clothes are fitting! And a big CONGRATULATIONS to you and your DD!!! That's fantastic! What did she write about?

Gayle, Step Blast, huh? Sounds like a great workout you had! Just getting away from the monotony for a few days brings you to a new level! I'm glad it's working for you! What do you have planned for the kids tonight? Will you fix them supper?

Melissa, have fun getting DD's hair cut off! What a big change! How old is she? Great workout too! What are your meals today?

Kathy, sounds like you had a great night sleep! Hope you can make it to the pool today! How long is your run tomorrow?

Belinda, so glad you made it! Poor dogs.;( Hopefully they will recover quickly! Hope your head feels better!

Again, thanks for the kind words yesterday and today! :7 You chickies ROCK!

It says: I have a zebra. Her name is bucky. She is black and white. She eats her sweet green grass outside. She sleeps at night. She runs in the grass. I like Bucky.

Gayle-enjoy that step blast, ive done that workout once and i loved it. I will have to pull it out agian, soon!

Melissa-LOL at you,i figured everybody forgot about the "jeans DH incident":+ Im always doing silly stuff like that,LOL. My mom is the same way, kinda ditzy!! Have fun with your workout and YES im with you,im ready to throw my scale out the window!!

Hey to Susan,Sherry,Heidi,Kathy,Michelle and Belinda(yay, your off the plane;-)) hey to anybody i missed:)

have a wonderful day!:)

Hello to you all!

Just getting around to checking in with you all! It has been pretty busy here.

No workout for me today…YET!

I will have to read back to see what has been going on with you all today.

Stephanie: Way to go on your race today! You must feel like you are on cloud nine!

Gayle: You finally got your Cathe fix today huh? Nice job!

Hey Belinda: Welcome to the US! I hope you pups feel better! Long flights and travel in general gives me a headache every time. I hope that you feel better and are able to rest today. How nice to be with your children…how long are you here for?

Hi Kathy: Did you get to go swimming today?

Amelia: Nice job on your weight loss or should I say inches on the belly! :) All those ab workouts are paying off!!!

Susan: What are you getting at Walmart? I am still waiting for my weight bench to come in.

Hi Sherry: I am joining you with the DOMS today. I am soooo sore from all the yard work the last couple of days. I won’t be doing any back or chest workouts for awhile!

Melissa and Michelle: As for the subject on S…and kids….I had these talks with my children early before they heard garbage from kids at school. Most importantly was that they wait until they are older and understand fully that this is a big responsibility if things don’t go right.

I hope that you all enjoy your Saturday…the sun has finally come out here. Maybe I will go for a walk.

BBL Heidi

Hi Amelia:

That is sooo cute! Thanks for sharing. I miss having little pictures from my kids. They just grow up so fast!

STAY AWAY FROM THAT CAKE MIX! (UNLESS YOU MAKE IT "LIGHT"...:+ )

I made cupcakes the other day and only had one out of the 24. They were gone in a flash luckily!

What did you do for your cardio? Which weight workout are you doing?

Have a great afternoon.
Heidi
