BFL for Sun Mar 16th 2008

I missed checking in yesterday, but it was just a regular lazy Saturday and a rest day.

I gained 1.2 lb this week. x( But still down a lb from my starting day, so could be worse. I'm going to try to be better this week--cheated a little bit a couple days last week. At least my workouts are great.

Today is HIIT--going to do Amy Bento's Kickbox Xtreme or ASCII (have to pause between combos to do intervals). I really wish DH would agree to us getting a stationary bike which would make BFL HIIT easier. Dude is soooo cheap.

Good morning to Belinda!

Hope to BBL. In fact, I should definitely be able to because DH is going out of town tonight so I'll have extra free time.

Good morning!

I’m at home today. Need to do a workout, and so I can get back on schedule, it will probably be cardio. Might be a run while DD skates.

Work has been crazy this week. We’re having a few production problems, and like a good supplier, we notified the OEM. It’s amazing how they treat every situation like it’s of extreme urgency, like in an ER. It’s just car parts for goodness sake! Everything is getting under control, and all I should have to do today is conference calls. The stress has greatly impacted my emotional eating, so I’d like this past week to be completely off the books.

Belinda – Enjoy your rest day. Your roulade recipe looks delish!

Lanie – Considering my eating this past week, I don’t want to go anywhere near the scale.

Stephanie – Great time on your first run! I’ll be looking for something around that time for the race in May.

Gayle – Did DS’s team make the play-offs? It’s been a looooong time since I enjoyed some cotton candy!

Amelia – Hope your ankle doesn’t keep you down too long.

Melissa – I am so glad the cookies are out of my house! Hope you don’t have the same pick-up problems today.

Kathy – Excellent performance on your 10 miler!

Heidi – I hope all that work on your 3rd floor isn’t going to do you in!

Morning girls:)

Its suppose to be around 70 today here:eek:...and I hope no more severe weather!

Who lived in GA from here...I can't remember? Are you OK? OH Man the tornadoes yesterday were terrible?

Belinda-Enjoy your rest day today, you deserve it:)

Lainie-morning facebook friend:)im not going anywhere near the scale until next saturday...i too cheated last week almost everynightx(. your gain is probably water,i wouldn't worry...ive gained 3lbs since my last WI:eek:,im not worried about it because i know one week of good, clean eating and it will be gone:)

Sherry-Agreed,last week is completely off the books for the both of us:) I too tend to emotional eatx(

ETA-
Mellisa, just read about the inconsiderate gsc mom:eek:, i agree that saying anything at that time would have been regreted but dang that must of been hard to do;-)

hey to the rest of the gang, today is the first day of week ten for me in bfl,i love this program:) I just wish my ankle would hurry up and get better! no workout for me today:-(

I went to pay a bill and stopped by a department store just to try on some jeans and sure enough my current size is loose on me:7 yay!

Good morning, girls! Happy Sunday! It's raining here, but from the forecast, it's supposed to dry up this afternoon. We'll see! HA!

Amelia-loose jeans....LOVE IT! Make Week 10 BURN, ok???

Lainie-are there any used sporting goods stores in your area? It's an awesome way to stock your workout equipment without killing the bank!

Sherry-hope your day at work goes smoothly (and quickly)!

Belinda-ENJOY your rest day!!!!!!!

I, for one, have DOMS!!!!!!!!!!!! Lats, shoulders, upper back, triceps, obliques, even the bend in my ELBOW hurts from yesterday's CK with weighted gloves! LOL LOVE IT SO MUCH! I felt the DOMS creeping on last night before I even hit the bed! :)

Today is 7-10 miles for me. I would like to do them outside, but it will depend on the weather and what I can do with my kids. I COULD have gotten up early to do these miles on the TM, but I a)wanted extra sleep and b)would like to do it outside. I'll keep you posted.

I think starting this coming week, for upper body, I'm going to use my P90X upper body workouts. I want to change things up for upper body, and the X works you to exhaustion, just like BFL. So I may do a split UB this week with the X workouts. Again, we'll see!

OK...kids had a friend sleep over last night and now I have to feed the masses! HA!

Gayle

Good morning Belinda, Lainie, Sherry, Amelia & Gayle and all that follow.

Trying to decide if I want to get my workout in this morning or this afternoon. So I guess you could say I'm procrastinating since I'm on the computer!

HIIT for me today since I took Friday as my rest day. Yesterday was LB and bi's & tri's from PUB. Serious bicep DOMS today and I only did the pyramid-up premix.}(

No free-eating day for me today. It's working out really well to let myself have a couple of free items throughout the week instead of an all-out food fest on Sundays! I had dessert on Tuesday night and then I had 2 pieces of pizza on Friday night. And I'm satisfied with that. Especially the dessert!:9

M#1: 1/3 cup oatmeal w/ 1/2 banana & 4 egg whites
M#2: turkey wrap w/ veggies
M#3: veggie chili
M#4: 4 oz steak, baked potato & steamed veggies
M#5: apple & 1T pb

I have a really hard time fitting in 6 meals on the weekend. I'd rather sleep in and miss a meal!;-)

Have a great day everyone!

Melissa-yeah, on the weekends when I sleep later, meal 6 sometimes just gets lost in the shuffle! LOL No free-eating for me today either. I'm trying to 'play' with my Free Day just by extending it out an extra day or 2. For instance, this week, today WOULD be free day since it's day 7 in my 'week', but I'm waiting till Tuesday just to play with it and push the free day a day or 2 later! LOL Just playing...you know! But I like your idea also. I'm afraid, though, and knowing myself well enough, I'm not sure that small treats throughout the week would work FOR ME! GREAT JOB, though, FOR YOU!!!! Enjoy your workout. It feels weird getting the workout in later in the day for me....I can't sit still right now...chomping at the bit to get outside and RUN! LOL

Gayle

Morning!
I did Spinervals Aerobase Builder I this morning (about 83 minutes of aerobic base building on the spinning bike) + a segment of Amy Bento Abs + stretched out to the cool down from RPM31. This DVD focuses on keeping your heartrate in the 70-75% zone while still doing high cadence work. It’s tough to do but a really nice change from high intensity intervals.

Belinda – Enjoy your day off!

Lainie – Just keep the big picture in mind (full 12 weeks) and you’ll be fine!

Sherry – Work stress is the worst! I hope this week is much better for you!

Amelia – How’s your ankle feeling? Is it still tender?

Gayle – Enjoy your run today! We’re thinking along the same lines here, I’m trying to decide what to do after next week.

Melissa – Enjoy your HIIT today! I read your post about the inconsiderate Mom yesterday. Wow, how can you do that??? When my daughter was in GS and she had activities, I was there to pick her up 5 minutes earlier than expected. I don’t understand that one!

Who else is going into week 12 tomorrow? I’m definitely going to do another round but may change up my upper body workouts a little. I’ve done strictly BFL weight workouts this challenge and I’m itching for something different (at least in the upper body weight dept.). I’ll probably keep the BFL lower body workouts because my lower body only responds to really heavy weight work. Just some musings…..I’ve really happy with my results thus far. :)

Kathy

Hi, Kathy! Good workout for you! Can you believe it's week 12 already? WOW!

Tentative plans for my run look like this: I called my neighbor/best friend and spoke to her DH. Yesterday, they took their 2 young kids on bike rides on the local trail around us and LOVED it! I asked them if they'd be interested in tagging along with me and my boys....all of them on their bikes and me running with them. He LOVED the idea, and they just got home from church! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that SHE loves the idea too! I really need to do these miles outside, and I'm not sure my younger DS will make it 5 miles out and back without some 'company' besides his brother and myself! LOL My thinking is that the kids will all inspire each other to just keep going (their kids are 18 months and 5).SO.......here's to hoping THIS plan works out. The later it gets in the day, the more antsy I get to go RUN!

ETA!!! OHHHH! I'm so excited! My friend just called and we're ALL headed out in 30 minutes! I LOVE IT! I really hope all the kids cooperate and we all enjoy this outing! I would love to be able to do this more often with them all!

I'm back,but for just a moment.

Got in 2 miles while DD skated - time was 24 minutes at a leisurely pace . Considering how I ate this week, I'm not complaining.

Plans for the rest of the day: did grocerymax on the way home from skating, both kids have projects due this week so that's what's the rest of the afternoon, then dog training at 6:00, with just enough time for a quick dinner, showers and bed. I think I need to do a load or two of laudrymax also - better check if thy have pants for the week.

The kids' projects are interesting: DS is making a website to entice tourist to visit the ancient ruins of the Mayas, Incas and Aztecs while DD is writing a biography on her great-grandma. She's called grandma many times over the past week and has learned quite a bit about life "in the old days".

Ok, now gotta go type her paper (I'll type exactly what they write - they are responsible for spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.)

Have a great day!

Hello and Goodafter Noon! What it is that late already!

I have been up since 5:30 with a blasting headache. I tried to go back to bed with some Advil but got up again around 7am.

Cleanmax and laundrymax for most of the morning.

Belinda: Enjoy your free day! Do you have anything special going on today?

Lainie: How was your workout?

Sherry: I hope you had a nice run while your DD was skating.
Oh YA! It's getting there with being overwhelmed with work on the 3rd floor. We are currently doing the wiring of the outlets. I have to wash the floors again for the sheetrock dust has settled out again. Just can't seem to get rid of it.

Ameila: Have you had your ankle looked at? I hope it gets better soon. :) Ooooo what a nice feeling on the loose jeans huh?

Gayle: Have a great time with your friend and kids! Sounds like a lot of fun. It is snowing here again!!! Darn.

Melissa: What did you end up doing today for your HIIT?

Kathy: Great job on your workout. I am still hoping for a bike...

Well...I did get in my workout before heading out for dinner. I ended up doing Basic step because it was really short. My friend that we were going to dinner with was luckily running a little late so it worked out for the best.

I guess I should head to the treadmill to burn off this headache.

Hello to Rhonda,Stephanie and Michell and anyone else that hasn't checked in yet.:)

Stephanie: What a cute couple your son and friend are!:)

Catch up with you all again soon. Have a great day. Heidi :7

Belinda

Hey guys! I'm doing the HAPPY DANCE right now!

My friend and I headed out with our families and now we're back! I was shooting for 10 miles, but would have settled for 7, especially since I didn't know how the kids would hold up. It turned out great! Older DS stuck with me the whole time, and my GPS said we did 9.49 miles!!! WOO HOO!!! Younger DS got tired once, and my friend stopped with him. But he did really WELL too! We then treated the kids to Rita's Ices (I got a gelati...a bit of custard, then sugar free root beer ice, and a bit more custard...figured I burned 1100 calories according to my GPS HRM, so I could eat this as a meal! HA!) My time was a few seconds over 1:30:00!!! Average pace around 9:38. And I FELT GREAT THE ENTIRE WAY! I was a bit concerned my shins would burn, but it seems that they're all healed up from whatever was plaguing them earlier this week!

ANYWAY.........we've got nothing else on the calendar for the rest of
the day. I'm going to go dry my hair from my shower, and maybe sit
and relax and read my book!

We're still waiting to hear about DS's basketball team. We DO know that the team that may have pushed us out of the playoffs LOST their game yesterday, locking the 4th place position for us! And they take the top 4 teams of each division! So we're just waiting for more details!

ENJOY the rest of your weekend! We're on Spring Break all week, so
I'll be around the house for LaundryMax and CleanMax all week!

Gayle

Hi everyone--I'm back for a bit.

I did part of Amy's ASCII alternating combos with my own intervals. I do so love that workout. Oh, I should mention I do that one on the MatStep. I've been keeping most higher impact step on the MatStep but going up to a whopping 4" for low impact step. (bad knees)

Sherry, hope you have an easier time of it this week!

Amelia, glad you made it through the nasty weather o.k. I grew up in the heart of Tornado Alley so I know how scary that can be. I still have nightmares about tornadoes, even though we don't get much weather like that here.

Gayle, I don't know of any used sports stores nearby, though there may be. The problem with DH is not how much to spend, because once I convince him to buy he'll be very interested in getting the best quality bike and we can afford a decent one, I imagine. The problem is just spending ANY money is hard for him. Groan. It's actually a lucky thing I didn't marry someone as profligate as I am, though.

Melissa, your meals for today look great. Veggie chili in particular sounds like something I should learn how to make.

Kathy, you're right--have to remind myself I still have 9 weeks in this challenge.

Heidi, my workout was really fun today--love days like that. I hope that headache went away quickly.
