Well pass the tissues Carla, here's my story LOL. I've been following BFFMs method of calculating my TDEE. It came out to 2107 and I subtracted 500 for weight loss. Therefore my target calories per day are 1600. I go over and under that number, but since starting BFFM I have averaged about 1550 calories per day (and that's factoring in my high days too). The lower side of 1600 seems to be giving me results, but I'm sure I'll have to change it up shortly. I plateau easily and once embedded in an eating program my weight loss is very slow. BTW - yesterday's calorie count of 900 is way under my norm and rarely happens. Eating after 9 at night didn't seem like the right thing to do either. I hope to make up that deficit today.
I have a couple things going against me, one of which is age and a very sedentary job, which I've noticed doesn't allow me to enjoy the volume of eating I enjoyed when I was younger (waah!). Over the past several years of tracking my intake, I've found that my body also adapts very easily - both to cardio and eating. I'm constantly changing up exercise and eating patterns to get and keep results. I'm kind of glad that TV mentioned this in the BFFM book because it is so true for me. I always thought I would just find that perfect eating/exercising routine and use that for the rest of my life but it's just not that simple!
Another thing which I think impacts my metabolism is that I have a low resting heartrate (mid 40's). I get so jealous of people who say they burn 400+ calories on an hour workout when all I get on a good day is 280-300 (double waah!).
I'm always tinkering with my diet and exercise hoping that I'll find that perfect combination that will allow me to eat endlessly without worrying about it (yeah right LOL). Well, the hope is always there...
