Barbell Preferance

Hate to be a pain in the you know what sorry, I was just wondering Cathe if you prefer the straight barbell or would a bent one work with your videos ok?

I'm obviously not Cathe, but I'll give you my 2 cents. Let me preface this with the comment that I have had wrist tendon trouble and am very careful how I handle weights.

I have both types of bars (4 ft. bent bar and 5 ft. straight bar) and I use the straight one the most. The issue with the bent one is that your wrists can be placed at a very odd angle for some exercises. However, the exercises the bent one is good for, it is definitly good for.

I'd say go to a sporting goods store and try a few moves to see how your body reacts. If you want to err on the safe side, buy a straight bar.
 
Hi Leslie! I think you can do many more exercises with a straight bar than with a bent bar. However, the bent bar comes in handy for certain exercises both for variety and a more comfortable grip, reducing wrist stress. If you only want to choose one and you have no problems with your wrist, I feel you will get more use out of a straight bar.
