Bands or Tubing???

What's the difference? Is one more challenging than the the other? More versatile?

I wanted to add some heavier bands, but wanted to make the right choice between the two. To be honest I have no idea what the difference could possibly be?

You know, I've always wondered the same thing. I have both--in fact, I have 3 sets of bands (Xmas gifts, RT gifts, yadda yadda yadda) & one set of tubing.

I will say this: I def. use the bands more than I use the tubing. In fact, I almost never use the tubing. BUT I think there are a lot of strength building exercises a home exerciser can do at home w/tubing that I do at the gym w/machines. In fact, I believe STS has some modifications w/tubing.

Aw crap. Just get both! They're relatively cheap compared to most exercise equipment.

I was wondering the same and was going to ask, but never did. I have bands now - 3 of them, different resistances. I used to have a tube, but it broke. I didn't like the tube as much, I found the handles to be annoying and in the way when I didn't need them. But to my muscles, it all felt the same

There's not much difference with my bands and tubes. I have a set of three tubes from beachbody and a set of three bands from ???

My tubes are heavier than my bands. I use my tubes for exercises (mainly upper back work and standing rotator cuff work) that require me to use the door attachment. I prefer to use the pull up bar for overall back work.

I use my bands for Cathe workouts (bonus burn, firewalkers), and sidelying and supine rotator cuff exercises. Something to think about... You can use the bands to tie around your legs, and wrap around your bar. Yeah, I suppose you could do the same with tubes. I don't think it would be very comfortable or secure.

I agree with Wendy. I use both bands and tubing. Mostly bands with Cathe.

I'm very particular about the handles on my tubing though:) I have to have a solid handle. I love this brand called lifeline professional. The handles are solid.

Everyone, thanks so much for your input. I am not sure that I know why they make the two different types of resistance, but I least now I know what to use what for and what to look for when I do buy....both:p:D!

I am so excited because I went to Scheels for the first time today and they had all of the fitness by Cathe products so I bought a medium strength band.

I have gone to only using bands although I have TONS of tubing...For some reason every single time I use heavy resistance tubing I pull a muscle...It doesnt happen when I use the heaviest band. I have no clue why- it must have something to do with the position of my wrist/hand.... I also have a client that experiences the same thing so I've taken her off all tubing and ise bands.

Traci - Thanks for the heads up! Do you use handles with your bands?

Linda-
I dont use handles w/ my bands but I do wear my lifting gloves. I think its the handles that actually cause the stress although I'm not sure why. As long as I get 6' bands I have enough to wrap

Traci - Okay, one more question - I have the Dyna Band in silver/grey, is there a band that comes heavier than that?

I think that Silver is the "toughest" on the market...Now having said that- I recall Cathe saying that her new line of bands felt heavier to her - I may invest in her set just to see- I can always use them.
