Baby Shower Ideas

Hi guys,

I am supposed to be planning a baby shower for my friend, but I have absolutely no idea what to do. What do you suggest. It's my friend's first baby and I want her to have a fabulous time. I also need game ideas to play at the shower. Thanks to you all. I know you will give me great advice.

I went to a baby shower recently where we created a scrapbook of baby's first year as a gift for the mom. The hostess supplied scrapbooking supplies, and everyone chose a theme -- an event (baby's first bath) or holiday or other special moment and created a page, leaving space for photos. On the cover page, we each wrote a welcome message to the baby. I'll admit my mind goes blank when I'm confronted with a blank page, but even the non-scrapbookers in the group put together special pages.

I know you'll get other great ideas!
Have fun with it!

Well I'm sure you know that you need to make her a hat out of the bows and ribbons off of her gifts and take her picture with it on! This goes for all types of showers! :)

Serve DELISH food!:9

Mortify her by taking TONS of pics of her and that adorable preggo belly of hers!:+ :p :+

Hmmm...I don't really know the games part...we didn't do the game thing at my shower...probably because the girls who threw me the shower didn't know what games to play either. LOL It was lots of fun anyway though.

I'm sure you'll plan a great party and she'll be delighted with it no matter what!!! :)

I had a baby shower for my daughter. For the most part. People hate games. If it is gonna be a big one omit them. The shower took us 5 hours with games.
I had one for a friend and we set a timer for gifts.Filled a jar diaper pins and guessed the amount . Everyone signed a good luck book for her.
My daughters shower was like a wedding. I was insane.
For my friend I went to a local bar and rest. They have this really nice back room. We had pizza pop, beer salad and cake.
Everyone likes pizza!!
It was really nice and I didn't have to clean up.
I bought live flowers (spring) for the tables for gifts and bought some gifts.
It was really nice. Everyone had a good time.
What ever you do it will be nice. The ladies all like to get together andI love to buy baby stuff!!!!

I went to one recently where the girls throwing the shower put out a couple dozen onesies on the table w/ various fabric markers, stencils etc... each person was to design a onesie for the baby.
it was so cute, cause some were designing ones w/ ducks, "i luv grandma" etc... i saw one that was "superbaby" a few holiday style ones. I really thought that was different and cute.

I know games can be a little old fashion, but i always love playing the "guess what baby food" is in each jar.

At my own baby shower, we served little finger sandwiches in pink and blue bread... a special order from the bakery. they were so festive!

Hi

I just hosted a baby shower for a friend, mid thirties, first child. It was a champagne and dessert shower :9

It was on a Saturday evening, which made it a little easier for moms to attend. I offered sparkling cider as an alternative for those who chose not to drink.

I served chocolate fondue with strawberry roses (large strawberries skewered through the leaf end on thin wood skewers) arranged in a vase, as the appetizer course!

Then later in the evening I put out a dessert buffett.

We did not play games.

I bought cloth diapers and colored permanent markers and every one designed a "burp cloth".

I bought a picture mat and had everyone write the baby's name on the mat. Obviously this only works if you know it!

I bought note cards and had attendees write a note to the new mom to be opend the week after she delivered (this was a huge hit, my girl friend said that the words of encouragement were perfect for that first post-partum week.)
