Anyone use Cathe exclusively?

Hi all. Am fairly recent convert to Cathe, love both her cardio and strength. In fact, I like them so much, that all my other vids are collecting dust -- I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to them!

Should I hesitate to sell off all my non-Cathe vids? Each video seems to have a much better equivalent with Cathe. I'm wondering if its an infatuation with the new, although I see many posts from those that have been die-hard fans for years.

Anyone else dump their old workouts upon discovering Cathe?

Kim

I use Cathe 90%. Every once in a while I sneak in something else. But for at least the last 7 years I've been almost exclusive Cathe. I have still hung on to other tapes however but that's just me! I do find a need on occasion for other types of videos like yoga or pilates, but for step or strength I only use Cathe. Nobody compares to her workouts or what she produces. She is definitely a cut above everyone else!

I doubt you'll find it's just a "Cathe" phase you're going through. Once you're hooked, that's it!

I use Cathe 99%, I use winsor pilates also, but thats it besides Cathe dvd's and videos .... I haven't seen anything else that really compares to her workouts. .... Rhonda :7

Well, anymore I do about 75% or a little more Cathe.
I do like to toss in a few Slim Series workouts, cause well, it keeps boredome away.
And then there are time I pull out a Firm, cause I just feel nostalgic for a Firm workout.
But for when I want a good tough workout, Cathe is IT!

Hi Kim!
I discovered Cathe about 18 months ago and use her about 99.9% of the time! She is wonderful! I did get a windor Pilates DVD to use sometimes before I go to bed. I did one of my old firm (super cardio) about 2 weeks ago and found it really boring, the choreography just wasn't there, neither was the intensity. I wanted to quit about halfway through and do a Cathe instead. Actually I sold most of my firms and bought Cathe's DVDs with the money. The DVDs are terrific, especially with all the chaptering! Sorry to ramble..... But I have gotten better results in the 18 months I've used Cathe than the whole 10 years of using the firm.

I too use Cathe 99.9% of the time! I just love her style and her intensity and everything! I own a lot of Firm workouts and a few others, but I have not discarded them yet. I gave a few workout videos to my sister and a friend because I was just over them or knew I would not miss them even though they were good workouts. I am hesitant to sell all my other videos b/c I think I need some lighter workouts for backup like if I were to get sick for an extended period of time and needed to ease back into working out. I also hope to have a baby in the next couple of years and my guess is I will need some lighter workouts to do during and after my prenancy. After keeping all these old workouts though, I will probably pull out my Cathe's and just modify! Who knows, maybe I will actually burn out and need to go back to some of my old workouts, but it hasn't happened yet!:7

YES Hollie - I sure did. I dumped ALL my other workouts except the new FIRM ones that came with the body bar, etc. I don't use those and would love to sell them, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Anybody interested???

Nobody comes close to Cathe that I can see and those new pictures sure do prove it. :)

Marcia

I have over 100 videos and in the two years I've been collecting I think I've only given away about 3! I just can't part with any of them. I even have my old Jane's. I guess I'm not one to give advice, but if I were you I'd keep a few easier ones on hand just in case you get sick or injured. I do Cathe 75% of the time, but the older I get--I'll be 40 next year--the more I realize I can't maintain her intensity for long periods of time without my knees or back rebelling. Now I take breaks from her every other month or so and just do a week of easier videos. Then I return to Cathe rested and refreshed and ready to tackle the tough stuff! Since you're new to Cathe I completely understand your enthusiasm. But, I wouldn't bail on my old vids just yet!

Ooops...Marcia, I think you meant Kim. She's the one that started the thread. :D

Like every one has said, there is nobody out there like Cathe.

I have given away most of my useless workouts but hang on to some because I use them when I am sick, to get back in shape. I even have the Cindi Crawford "New Dimensions" workout for getting in shape after pregnacy because it has 3 good workouts that will get you out of your "out-of-shape" condition into a more "Cathe-workout" phase. :+

Hang on to them for the next year and then reconsider staying with them or selling/giving them away. You may just find that you don't have time for any of the old videos because Cathe has such a great selection of workouts and she keeps coming out with more every year! ;)

Blessings from our home to yours...Runathon

I only use Cathe. No other video or instructor holds my interest like she can. If I get bored, I won't work out. I'm never bored with Cathe. Plus, all my old videos from the dark, dim PC days ("Pre-Cathe") come nowhere near to challenging me anymore.

I sold most of my Firms and bought Cathe DVD's. I haven't done any of my remaining Firms(classics)since I found Cathe. I mainly workout to Cathe, but did buy the slim series and think they are a compliment to Cathe's workouts. I kept some yoga, pilates and just got a treadmill. I recently bought some treadmill workouts. Mainly for when Cathe says to run or walk on her one of her monthly rotations.}(

So, I have some varity, but the main focus is Cathe workouts.

Editing to add: I have a hard time useing any VHS now that I am spoiled by Cathe's great DVD chaptering.

I do a fair amount of non-Cathe exercise, like swim, run, bike, blade, but for home workouts I do Cathe almost exclusively. I still own 3 Firms and Gin Miller's Intense Moves. I probably use these tapes 2 or 3 times a year. I discovered Cathe in 1996 and within 6 months I was a die hard Cathe monogamist. I almost never "cheat" on her anymore!

While I'm not 100% surprised by the responses, I am surprised by the number of you using her exclusively -- and long term.

I will take the good advcie to hang on to a few easier videos for recovery needs.

I guess its off to Ebay for me, LOL, thanks everybody!

Kim

I don't do Cathe exclusively through my workout week anymore. I tried that and found it taking a toll on my knees and calves. So, now I aim for Cathe 2-3 times a week, more often twice a week, with Christi Taylor, Pilates, Kickboxing and Powerstrike in between. I've kind of found a happy balance now.

Anna :)

Cathe's workouts have a place of honor on my workout media shelf (top row, first group), but I use many others. (I have over 10O tapes/DVD's)

Overall, I use 70% Cathe for strength, and 30% Cathe for cardio. Sometimes I go through a phase where I use 100% Cathe for strength. Other times, I toss in a Cathe workout into an otherwise "unCathe" rotation.

I think Cathe makes the best strength tapes, but I still like to vary my resistance workouts between Cathe, the Firm, Slim Series and some others.

I also highly believe in crosstraining and like to do something different every day. I enjoy kickboxing with Powerstrike (my favorite for technique and power...I've gained a lot of flexibility, balance and sense of power from ths) and Tae Bo (which I like less). I like rebounding to various tapes as well, as using step tapes with more linear moves at a bit slower speed (my knees prefer them!)

Hi,

I do Cathe's workouts 70% of the time, but I still love to use The Firm. I am just the type of gal who loves variety. Also, my knees cannot tolerate the impact for too long.

Kimmy

Hi Kim,
Outside of walking on my treadmill twice a month (can't seem to do any better HA) I only use my Cathe tapes and DVD's. I rotated all my Firm tapes exclusively for 10 years, so I feel Cathe deserves no less. LOL
I have been thinking of trying Powerstrike but for now I'm staying amused by rotating Cathe. I found Cathe in 2001 and have been using her tapes 6-7 days a week ever since.

I agree with the girls who say to vary your workouts and do other things, though. Variety not only helps with boredom but it will challenge your muscles. Personally, due to health related issues, I have to do videos indoors. Because Cathe's workouts seems more advanced than other workouts IMHO, Cathe just fits the bill for me.
If I want a light day, I walk or modify Cathe by lowering the weights or doing 30 min of aerobics(CTX is perfect for this) instead of an hour.

I feel a person just needs to do whatever keeps them motivated to keep moving. If it means other videos or other sports, then so be it. The goal is better fitness, both mental and physical. It is what works for you. Every... body... is different. :7
Have fun on your journey to fitness.
