I'M going NUTS!!!! Ragweed sucks and the waether is nice and all but I cannot wait until the first frost to kill it, bring on the cold weather!!! This year is really bad for me, taking eye drops, nasonex and on Claritin after switching to other ones that were not working...anyone have any suggestions?

No good suggestions, just sympathy from a fellow sufferer. It's never spring - always this time of year. I am on a nasal spray - Astelin. Seems to work.

Also a major sufferer here. Often I feel like I am the only one in the world looking forward to rain or the first freeze, it is supposed to rain here on Wednesday, yay. I am on every med, or type of med, known to allergist and still suffer. I think the related asthma is what makes me most cranky.

I have a couple of ideas that are really cheap and easy to implement that have made a huge difference. One is that I rinse out my nose, essentially use a neti pot, every night before I go to bed. The goal here is to get all of the pollen out of my nose before I sleep. I also take a shower and wash my hair every night. This one took me a long time to get into, because at first it sucks. But the truth is that the pollen gets into your hair and when you sleep it is like sleeping in a bush of ragweed, or whatever you are allergic to. In the morning I just rinse my hair and style as normal. After I got used to it I figured out that it actually saves me about 10 minutes in the morning.

I hope these ideas help.

I was going to suggest this same thing! My son really suffers this time of year and a nightly shower before bedtime is a must! And even when the weather is BEAUTIFUL as it can be this time of year, I NEVER open the windows in my home...then we all feel it!
Good Luck!

Zyrtec works really well for me, as long as i stay on it constantly. I get the 24-hr ones and take it in the morning. If i forget to take it, i notice it within two days (and my allergies are HORRIBLE, and year round)...and then it'll take about a day before it kicks in after i start taking it again...so i try to be very diligent in remembering. But it works very well (absolutely no symptoms) when i remember. Otherwise, i use afrin VERY rarely for severe symptoms. (if you use afrin too much it can actually worsen your symptoms after awhile)
