Anyone still slide?

I bought a Reebok slide with boots at a thrift store for $5 and I'm flummoxed as to whether it was a good purchase or not. You don't hear too much about sliding, but it seems like it would be a good leg conditioner. Anyone slide at all? Or is it a knee blowout waiting to happen?

Hi Rose,

I have a slide and rarely use it, but it is a great workout and provides a good activity for cross-training. I have some slide videos, but I usually just watch tv. You could listen to music obviously as well. I think it's easy on the knees and can be an intense, nonimpact workout.

Tty it and let us know how you like it! It's definitely worth $5!:)

I still slide, when my legs are tired from stepping/jumping/running/stairclimbing etc., and want to stay grounded. I find it esp hits the glutes, inner and outer thighs. For me it's much easier on the joints yet intense and effective.

I was just thinking about sliding recently, when I saw that the powersystems catalog had slide trainers. I could never find a slide that didn't move all over the floor when I tried to use it.

I think it would be a good workout, especially for inner and outer thighs. Too bad that there don't seem to be many videos available. Seems like it was a fad that only lasted a couple of years at most (or one season?) Wonder why it didn't take off, like step?

Wow! I absolutely love the slide! It's the greatest workout for legs and cardio! Love it for crosstraining! I actually put a suggestion in to Cathe to do a video to bring the slide back, if anyone can make it hip again, Cathe is the one to do it! Cia has some good videos 9703 and older ones! The slide didn't stay IN long due to alot of accidents and injuries!(proper placement of slide, away from obstacles, make sure it's sturdy and your eyes are occasionally looking down and you know all the basic moves--staying in control at all times) There are clubs that still have classes or you can request to the instructor (if they have the equipment-slide) to use the slide! It usually depends on how advanced and coordinated the class is but the instructor will take your suggestion into consideration and wing it for you(if applicable) for warm up,cardio , interval training, or bootcamp style. Never hurts to ask (if this is an option for you)
