Anyone here use NetFlix?

I have to ask, because I recently reinstated my NetFlix membership. I am sick to DEATH of the behemoth local chain that NEVER has new releases. Ugh. So... I was poking around the NF site and I absolutely could not believe the number of fitness DVDs they now have. No Cathe, of course, or BeachBody, but they do have Christi, Janis Saffell, Jari Love, Patrick Godeau, and gads of other instructors. (Unfortunately Carmen Electra and Denise Austin seem the most popular, judging by the number of times their workouts appeared on the page, ugh.) Anyway, I think this is going to be an awesome way to try out new workouts without going through the cost and disappointment of discovering one doesn't love them, after all. :)

I am trying to cross-train more, so hopefully I'll find some non-Cathes that I like enough to buy. :)

Anyway, just thought I'd pass along the tip. I know I can't be the only person on this board who is addicted to new workouts.

Marie, I love NetFlix and have a Jari Love DVD on its way :) My only complaint with them is that, now that I have been a customer for a while, my DVDs are coming more and more slowly and I can't help but feel as if this a bit of bait and switch. I am currently attempting to maintain my calm while I wrestle with customer service over this. Still, it's a neat service.

Hey-thanks for replying to my building muscle question- I use to have netflix and I let my membership go-i did not know they fitness videos-I guess I will look at it again-another question (if you would be so kind)-I was checking out a few rotations that aquajock came up with (they look pretty good and this is all so new to me) but by my calculations I would need to buy at least 5, 10 cathe dvds to do it?? before I go rush to buy which ones do you like?? deb

Hi Marie -

I use Blockbuster online and absolutley LOVE it. The best part about Blockbuster - is that you also get to two coupons per month for free in store rentals. I try to use those mainly for games as games are 6.99 to rent now. So I can get 2 games rentals for my kids - or 2 movies or what ever combinantion. There is a distribution area in town here - so I get movies turned around in 2 days!

I havent checked out much of the fitness videos though...

Yes - I have had Netflix for about a year, and I use it to try out workout DVD's - then I know what to buy. Works out great!

I have been using netflix since November 2005 and I really like it. We have had a couple of mix-ups where they send us the wrong movie, but all-in-all I really like the service. They do have a lot of fitness videos too. I have tried Christi and Seasun through them. It was great because I could try these DVDs out before I decided to purchase them. Also, you can keep them for as long as you want to see if you will really like the DVD or not. I also think that I read on the videofitness forums that people will rent TV shows or movies and use their treadmill, bike, etc... the whole way through the movie/show. Wow, talk about a great way to burn calories! Let us know if you find any good workouts!!

I have hdd Netflix for several years. Their selection of fitness videos has really grown! As far so the delivery getting slower and slower, that is because they do this purposefully. In their membership agreement, it states that heavy volume users may receive dvds slowers and are at the bottom of their list of things to do. They has actually been a class action lawsuit on this issue, and several people may have received e-mails saying they are entitled to a free one-month upgrade (I haven't gotten mine yet). Of course, they try and trick people again by not automatically cancelling the upgrade after the month is over, so you will continue paying extra until you cancel yourself. See below an excerpt from their membership terms:

In determining priority for shipping and inventory allocation, we may utilize many different factors, including without limitation, the number and type of DVDs you rent through our service, the subscription plan you select, as well as other uses of our service by you. For example, if all other factors are the same, we give priority to those members who receive the fewest DVDs through our service. The type, number, mix and weighting of the various factors impacting shipping and inventory allocation will change from time to time and will be made in our sole and absolute discretion. As a result of your viewing habits and our operational practices, the actual number of DVDs you rent in any month may vary, and you may experience differentiated service during the course of your membership.

Editted to say: Despite their shipping practices for heavy volume users, I still use them because I hate going to the video store!

YEP! I am addicted. I tried Mindy Mylrea Awesome strength, Gilad step and tone (TOO EASY), Christi Taylor- Totally hot cardio, Dolores Munoz-Killer Butt and Billy Blanks Ultimate Bootcamp. Plus I am also trying the kids workouts. Nice selection I should be receiving Treadmoves today for the treadmill.

Hi! I am really enjoying Netflix. I try exercise dvd's before I buy them. I like some of the crunch pilates, so now have purchased 2 of them. The have alot to look at, but they also have some really bad ones ... Carmen Elektra stiptease comes to mind. I get the collage video catalogue look thru it and then go online and see if netflix carries it. I find it is hard to judge a video in 30 seconds. It's nice to be able to do it before you buy. I would save alot of oney that way!
